Prompt; Zohar entered the empty house, dust filtered
through the sunbeams and settled back from the quick burst of air.
The floor boards creaked with each step, a painful reminder of the
weight they use to hold. A soft sigh escaped their lips as they
continued down the long halls. The rooms had been covered
in white sheets, now they were more of a grey from the built up
grime. The walls left vacant squares where the frames had hung.
Each step became heavier than the last, every room more desolate
feeling than the previous, every bare spot more noticeable than
before. Zohars mind spun as they swayed in the hall, the end of the
hall. A large carved oak door stood shut, the reason they were here,
the motivation for their return.
A turn of the glass knob and a gentle push gave way to a blinding light.
Squeezing their eyes against the dazzling beam they pushed further in.
Adjusting did not help as the object of their affections aided in the
intensification of the blaze. With blind confidence Zohar flowed over
to the shades and began to shut them, allowing
them to gaze upon their last prized possession.
Pulling the cherry wood chair out from underneath, they sat gently
down. The feel of the wood an old sweet memory. Breathing out
Zohar sat still, silent, for just a moment. Then as if life burst forth
from them, their hands worked the keys effortlessly the pipes burst
to life and the house seemed to breath. The organs melodic tone
filled the stale air and Zohar felt their memories reach
forward from within, giving them hope.
The kind of hope that healed.

kel name: Galad
prompt;

Galad found a very small plant outside poking out from the gutter. It was barely the size of their fingertip, perhaps it had been due to the constant downpour or maybe due to the freezing night but the small plant was droopy and insipid. Gently pulling the plant out from the edge of the drain, being careful not to damage it’s roots, Galad transferred the plant into a small yogurt pot filled with some dirt he had dug from the neighbours garden. At first Galad had been stringent in his routine of carefully watering the plant the right amount so the roots didn’t root and the small plant would drown. Galad kept it in a nice snug spot in their room where it was light in the mornings but shaded in the afternoon. Within a few days the small plant seemed to come to life one again.

However, the small plant was put to the very back of their mind when their house fence was crashed into. Paperwork, finding someone to repair the fence, getting the money to fix the fence, all of this played on Galad’s mind, to the point where they constantly had a headache. Then one day they sat down in their room to have a quick nap and saw the little plant they had put so much effort into healing, was now back to its original sad state. So Galad spent a few minutes each day watering and watching the small plant. Every time they saw the small plant gaining a little more life they couldn’t help but things weren’t all that bleak. If the little plant could become healthy despite the many setbacks, why should Galad be bothered about some small setbacks? The small little plant gave them hope.

As she stared at the ceiling of the hospital room, she was honestly not sure how she could continue on. It had been an honest accident. Two cars simply... going too close. But it had cost her what the doctors now were sure might be the use of her legs for good. What would she do now? What good would she ever be? How could she...?

They gave her a notebook, to help write her thoughts down in. To try and cheer her up. But no words came.... instead as she finally started to relax a bit lines came. Nothing that made sense at first, but slowly the lines became more detailed, joined together to form pictures, scenes, stories. And for a moment, she stared at a now filled page.

"I can create..." she whispered, hope returning to her. "I can still create..."

And she smiled, serene at last, looking forward to the worlds and characters she would bring to life next.

Re: Keldine #519 [ winner announcement! ]

Sorry for the wait, brain got in the way there for a bit (--;;)

Winner is DigitalLynx! I really liked the creative use of the tail as sort of a desk light! I also found the idea of this keldine being a writer fitting- super cute and neat idea! There were tons of really amazing entries, but I personally found this one to be my favorite.

Thank you for participating everyone!
