how has this year challenged or changed you?: was stuck at a job i enjoyed at first (kennel technician) but began to hate for most of the year. despite being in this profession for years, i got burnt out quickly and was unappreciated and disregarded by management and some of my coworkers. i would do x, y, and z and was easily the most reliable employee in my department, being the only one who didn't call out, go on leave, or no call no show on the regular, and picked up shifts when we were understaffed and i was overworked. i had to learn a lot about not giving myself to a corporation and that being the "good employee" gets you nothing in return at those places; you're dispensable to them. my friend and ex-coworker (now coworker again lol) left to a different job as she had the same issues and told me to apply as well. i did, and i got the job, and now i'm working as a vet tech making dollars more than i used to, in an environment i don't hate, and actually working a job i want to work. my old job begged for me back, but i learned i had to put my own needs before the needs of some company who wasn't going to treat me decently regardless of what happened. it was nice to listen to them beg and try to negotiate, though.😉

how has this year challenged or changed you?: I started college and met a bunch of new friends over discord, in which we play games together now ^^. Previously I only had a few friends and they moved away, so new company is always appreciated.

how has this year challenged or changed you?: i''m attending school a few hours drive away from where i've always lived. i'm getting my first taste of young independence, and it's fun, even if stressful at times. school has been easy so far, but the social aspects of being in a new place surrounded by new people has been difficult. i'm constantly surrounded by people who want me to be successful, and even though i still feel like an outcast, i'm growing more confident in being able to be strong for myself. ^_^

how has this year challenged or changed you?:

I am doing a research course that is partnering with an animal conservation organization. It has been interesting meeting with them and developing a project that could help forward their goals! We have been doing quantitative research when I usually do qualitative data so it has been different!

how has this year challenged or changed you?:
i think this year has easily been the hardest year I've had. my mental health hit absolute rock bottom and I've had to slowly and honestly frustratingly get up, dust myself off and keep going. and every time ANYTHING got better, life took to my legs with a baseball bat and knocked me down again and again. after months of being stuck in my lowest point, after being stuck inside for 5 damn months as a prisoner to my own anxiety I decided enough was enough. that wasn't living, that was just barely surviving. i pushed myself insanely hard, and I finally left the house and things have only been on an uphill slope since then. it's still hard, but I'm no longer having 2-3 panic attacks daily, instead it's like 2-3 a month. i got double vaccinated, something I never thought I could do with how I've been. it's taken me a year to get to this point, and i'm finally starting to see progress and I couldn't be happier. I'm FINALLY recovering, my body is finally healing after years of mistreatment and I'm so happy!!
