Irrational fear:
what's my irrational fear? paintings. specifically, paintings on canvas. i don't care about the ones on glass, acrylic, wood, etc. but canvas? nuh-uh, get that thing away from me! they're real freaky, i can't stand it. i am terrified of those paintings. i have absolutely no idea how someone could dare to hang them on their walls. the very thought of it sends shivers down my spine. but think about it, they're pretty creepy. just imagine it this way...

you're greeted by your aunt and uncle as they open the door. you step inside their house and slip off your shoes and jacket. your aunt takes your jacket and hangs it on the coat rack. she asks how you're doing and you reply, "i'm good, how are you?" just casual small talk. you've been to this house thousands of times, even though you are just a kit. this time, you are there with your mother to have dinner with them. your aunt and uncle are big art lovers, and they have bought many pieces of art. they've hung up the artwork around the house. they even have an entire room with walls full of various artwork. and i mean full. your aunt and uncle bring out the food as you and your mother sit down at the dining table. your mother begins to chat with them about some rude lady at the bank. you quickly finish your food and ask to be excused. after your aunt and uncle allow you to leave, you run up the stairs and to the bathroom. but on your way there, you notice a painting you've never seen before. it sticks out a little, and so you examine it more closely. then, something horrifying happens. you see a shape from behind the canvas painting. it forms into a hand with very long fingers and pointy claws. it comes closer to you. the canvas just stretches along with it. it comes closer still, and you can barely breathe. your body is frozen and you're trying as hard as you can to move. the hand is just about to touch you. suddenly, you're able to break free of the daze and in your desperation to get away, you tumble down the stairs. full-on somersaulting down the stairs. you manage to walk away without breaking any bones. you ran into the dining room, and beg your mother to go home. "please, i really don't feel well. i want to leave now," you plea. she swiftly stands up and puts on her coat, thanking your aunt and uncle as she walks out the door. thankfully, on the way home, she doesn't ask. you think that maybe she heard the terror in your voice.

ever since that incident with the hand, i picture the same thing happening. that was some creepy stuff, especially as a kit. i don't go to my aunt and uncle's house anymore, and i am terribly afraid canvas paintings. and now you know why.
