To me, beauty is confidence; it's the ability to fearlessly show your true colours and be who you want to be, regardless of others' expectations or ideals. A person who is truly comfortable with themself has something about them that cannot be replicated, nor can it be countered - it is indestructible and all-powerful. Many of the popular ideals of beauty are really just attempts at replicating something that already exists or forcing people into an arbitrary mold of what should be beautiful. In a society that feeds off of the insecurities of its people, it's no surprise that we have such a skewed understanding of beauty. Ultimately, beauty is what comes of looking in the mirror before stepping out into the world and being able to say to yourself, "I am beautiful".

beauty is more than the images we see on the daily in magazines and on television programs, it is more than the predetermined ideas set in place on what we should look like. Everyone has different concepts, in psychological terms, we all have a "prototype" of what a woman looks like and what a man looks like. It is said that beauty is about perception, we all have different ideas of what beauty should be, but in the simplest terms.. beauty is being who you are, it's both the acceptance of yourself and of others.. Beauty is having character rather than conforming to unrealistic standards so you'll seem more desirable. Beauty isn't just in the eye of the beholder, it's within ourselves. The way other people see us is the way we present ourselves to them, which all stems from being able to embrace who you are. It's loving yourself and being the best you that you can be. Feeling confident in yourself and feeling beautiful IS beauty, and it's the beauty that no woman in a magazine can show you. Flaws are perceptive, and these flaws are only "flaws" if allow them to be. Rather than hating our flaws, and doing all we can to get rid of them, learning to love them will make you truly beautiful. Inner beauty is confidence and self-respect and even if it's a challenging feat, we should all strive for it.
