"autumn skies bright like a burning candle light

(97/400) The cool air breezed through an open window, chilling an Autumn festival's preparation and celebration. Sliced apples thinner than paper curled over a crackling fire. Candles lay in cloth wraps, awaiting Samhain rituals. Squashes, pumpkins, and garden gourds sit in the kitchen, chatting with bundles of cinnamon and freshly churned butter.
Samhain's eve is an exciting time for Caine. Her family has passed down Pagan beliefs for centuries, and now it's finally her chance to carry the weight herself. She shares the holiday with her neighbors by gifting them classical Pagan treats, and spreading some holiday cheer!

    username;;
    name;; 秋 (aki, japanese word for autumn)
    gender;; female
    prompt;; autumn in japan is quite different then in america. for one thing, the once pretty pink cherry blossoms turn orange.
    yes, yes. you may think that's like america. but it really isn't. while the kalons in america stay indoors, the kalons in japan go out and see festivals. like the Takayama Matsuri Autumn Festival, for example.

    you start your winter prepartions at the festival. then, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery! japan is a big city, seeing the beautiful festivals in beautiful places is amazing in japan. oh how she loves japan, her home!

    she also just sits in beautiful places, grabbing the cherry blossoms and leaves from the ground. she carefully puts it inside her scrapbook, so next year she can remember everything that happened in this beautiful season.

Mottomo Utsukushī Hana
{Most Beautiful Flower}

Agender
They/Them

My favorite part of Autumn; watching the crisp, red and gold leaves flutter gracefully to the ground. Oh how I love it! I know, it may seem quite silly, but I have a story to tell about how it came to be so, just listen;

"Mottomo, come here!" My brother was calling me. I didn't know what for, I was still in bed, my alarm going off, everything seemingly ok. "Mottomo! Come down!
Its very important!" Now it was my mother. I got up, grabbed my sweater, it was a red sweater with gold stripes. Before I went downstairs, I looked out my bedroom window to see... No... It couldn't have been... Oh but it was.... My father. My mother never spoke much of him. I ran down, my mother greeting me with a smile. "There you are, sweetie. We have.... Unfortunate news. You know the tree that you love? The one where you always sit in to think? They.... They... They're cutting it down." Tears began to stream down my face. "Why, mama?" "Well.... Its in the way of a construction site. For your father's company. I looked angrily to my father, who I had never seen before. "You..... How could you!" I tried to jump toward him, but my brother held me back. "He's here to negotiate." Father stepped forward. "We have a way of avoiding your tree, but.... We'd have to close down another building for the money." I looked up at him. Surely I was important enough? "I'll do it, but.... You'd need to save the money." I smiled. I knew we could do it.

So, long story short, we saved the tree. The tree that I loved, and I still do. I think of it all the time.

    username. caius. kalon name. sayuri. word count. 285/400.

    Back when she was a little girl, Sayuri often dreamed of wearing fluttering kimono and dancing along the streets. Her mother had been a dancer, and her mother before her, and so on way through their family line. Being a dancer was laced into her very bones, a fate determined before she'd ever been born. And Sayuri was a natural at it.
    She picked up the flutter of an sleeve and the batting of an eyelash quickly. She learned where to place her feet, how to sweep low with her fan, and how to glide along the street in a way that projected her feet from the ground below -- like she was flying. Sayuri's love for dancing and beautiful kimono knew no bounds, but it was safe to say her favourite part was the Miki Harvest Festival.
    The celebration of good harvest gave way to celebration of all kinds, and watching the shrines pass by never failed to steal her breath away. Sayuri loved them dearly. Not only could she watch, but Sayuri had been given the honour of dancing in the very festival she loved so much. Trailing behind the shrines with drumbeats and laughter all around her instilled such a beautiful feeling she couldn't help going home brimming with energy and a spring in her step. There was nothing else like it in their small hazy town and the excitement that followed made all of their hearts soar.
    Yes, it was safe to say the Miki Harvest Festival was her favourite part of autumn. Sayuri would even go as far to say the whole year. It was only a matter of time before Sayuri passed her arts on to her daughters as well.

name;; Waverly

gender;; Female

Waverly's favourite part of autumn was by far the fabulous pumpkin spice lattes that were always around. But why? She loved them for their taste, the smell, and a gazillion other reasons but her first encounter with them had happened on a chilly autumn morning...

Waverly dragged herself down the street, head bent against the biting wind. She was usually a morning person but everything that could go wrong had gone wrong. First, her bathroom had a leak and she slipped on the tiles and now had a nasty bruise on her hip to show for it. Second, her favourite cafe had run out of her favoured pain au chocolats. She needed her chocolate fix in the morning nearly as badly as her caffeine. Third, a downpour had suddenly appeared merely minutes ago and she was soaked to the bone. Thankfully, it had slowed very quickly and there was only a slight shower now. And lastly, she was now stuck walking in wet clothing with dripping hair.
The red and orange leaves whirled past her in the wind, sticking to the pavement and shop windows. A particularly bright leaf caught her eye and she stopped to watch it whirl past. It stuck itself on a window of a cafe, partially obscuring a letter on a large sign. She looked in through the window and caught sight of golden pastries in a glass cabinet. Waverly immediately opened the door, a chime ringing out above her head. She made a beeline towards the cabinet and smiled with delight as she saw her pastry of choice sitting front and center. She eagerly ordered one and remembering the sign outside, decided to try this “Pumpkin Spice Latte”. She received her goods and took a seat at the window. She watched the other kalons of the city rush through the drizzle outside and followed swirling leaves fly past as she munched happily on the chocolate pastry. She took a small sip of the sweet-smelling beverage and was immediately accosted with the sharp taste of cinnamon. She eagerly drank more and before she knew it, the cup and been drained and she was left feeling a lot happier than half an hour ago.
She skipped out of the cafe merrily and resolved to have another of that delicious drink tomorrow morning.
