Ykhar always had a special place in Alana’s heart. They were always a clingy kid when they were younger; growing up close to their mother, afraid to leave her side.
Alana always enjoyed the time they spent with Ykhar growing up; they always looked up to her, loving the poems their mother wrote and the music their mother played on the grand piano they owned. Their mother was a role model; a hero; Their go-to person; a shoulder to cry on.. Ykhar was, and still is everything to the; nothing could ever change that.
Alana’s relationship was very close, and had no problem with having a single mother; it only made them happier that they had more time together.
As long as their mother provided something; Alana would do their best to provide something in return, such as a shoulder to cry on.
Since they took heavy inspiration from Ykhar; Alana took interest in the arts yet found no interest in music nor writing; all their inspiration was told through the drawings they often drew for their mother.
One year; for Alana’s tenth birthday, was given the gift of paints, canvases and their own easel; leading to Alana’s career in oil paintings.
With every bright side of a story comes the dark parts, despite being dark, made the relationship between Alana and their mother even more meaningful.
Born a female, around the age of five, Alana felt very out of place with other girls, yet still having that little place inside that said she identified as a female. Some part of her felt she was more masculine; always missing out on opportunities only boys got. It was hard for Alana to bring the issues up to their mother which lead to a life of them being closeted. Around the age of fifteen, and after long hours of thinking, Alana had the courage to talk to Ykhar about how they felt.
“Mama..”
“Yes, sweetheart? Are you alright? You sound upset.”
“I don’t feel like I’m a girl.. I mean.. I do but I feel more comfortable as a boy! Well kind of..”
“Oh honey… How long have you felt this way??”
“Years”
“Years??”
“I was afraid you’d be mad..”
“Honey.. I would never be mad! I love you; and I’m glad you had the courage to talk to me about this.. I’ll gladly call you by whatever gender you see fit!”
“Really?”
“Of course.”
“Thank you mama.. I love you so much…”
Alana can’t help but be thankful for the accepting and loving mother they’ve been blessed with; not everyone is as lucky as they are. They’ll make sure they’re always at their mother’s side no matter what; it’s the best thing they could do to repay what Ykhar has done for them growing up. As long as their mother is there for them, they’ll be there in return; it’s only fair in their eyes.
