Laelia's shine would be her namesake; a laelia orchid. Elegant and unique in a sense, Laelia's nam
e and shine design originates from the fragrant flower that can be found in Mexico and in Central
America. The shine has three main shades of purple; lilac, lavender, and a darker violet colour. Th
e dark emerald stem sticks out slightly from under the flower, but not much of it is shown as the
main focus of the shine is around the orchid.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
As a young Kalon, Laelia had always loved running around and playing amongst the orchid mazes
that can be found on her family estate. It was as though she could run away from all of her stress
and leave her life behind, if only for a mere moment. However, as her parents were well-known
aristocrats who had high expectations for the female Kalon, her childhood of running in orchids
were soon left behind, and replaced with mounds of textbooks and scrolls. Whenever Laelia would
catch sight of the flower on her tail, she would feel an unexplained pang in her heart. If she was
given the choice to relive her life, Laelia would, without a doubt, take that choice and spend her
days running in the delicate flowers again.

"Young Kalons who run away from their responsibilities and their studies deserve to be thrown into the lake. I reminded you time
and time again, didn't I? You can't blame me, dearest Laelia, it was for your own good. Soon enough you'll come to see the truth and
you will thank me for it..." Staring stonily at the struggling Kalon in the water, Laelia's mother turned tail and left her daughter alo
ne in the water.
"Mother... Mother! Don't leave me, please! Don't abandon me!" No matter how much she begged, the Kalon's mother wouldn't even
turn her head to spare a glance at the young Kalon.
"Prove that you can get out of the water yourself. Afterwards, dry yourself. We will be reviewing the history of our family bloodlin
e again. You must be able to do anything, you must be absolutely perfect. You must be number one. You cannot fail."
The young Kalon could do nothing but watch in despair at the back of the creature that she had thought she understood. What sort
of mother would go to such lengths to teach her daughter? Apparently, Laelia's mother was one of those mothers.

"No, no, you're wrong!" Laelia yelled out, practically hissing with rage. "How do you expect to succeed with something as half-assed li
ke that?! If I asked for piping hot chamomile tea with a side of lemon cake, then I expect to receive piping hot chamomile tea with a
side of lemon cake! Also, the amount of time you took preparing that awful afternoon tea snack was outrageous as well. Get out of
my face; you're fired." Sniffing haughtily, Laelia turned so that her back faced her devastated attendant. "Before you nip at me about
how my parents were only supposed to fire Kalons, guess what? They've passed along the privilege to me as well."
The attendant bowed, shame-faced, as they backed out of the room. Laelia's piercing blue eyes closed and leaned back into her chai
r. Exhaling heavily, Laelia lifted her head and opened her eyes to find herself looking at a portrait of her late mother. Smiling bitterly,
Laelia got out of her chair and made her way towards the portrait. Brushing a sophisticated paw along the gilded frame, Laelia humm
ed to herself. "Are you proud of me now, mother? Father is busy with his work and barely has time to tend with me, but it turns out
that your lessons had some use." Laughing sarcastically, the blue-furred Kalon then proceeded to rip the portrait of the wall. Flinging
it at the ground and watching the glass break and the wood splinter upon contact with the linoleum, Laelia remained unblinking. "Wh
at am I saying?
"Because of you I turned into this hated monster when I could've had solace among my beautiful orchids.
"Because of you I started to crave perfection, but what is even perfection? It is just a figment of our imaginations, a dream. A mere
hope of something that doesn't actually exist, does it now?"
Remaining silent, Laelia was surprised to find the trace of a tear trickling down her pristine fur. "What is this heavy in my chest, moth
er? Am I doomed to never be satisfied due to your whimsical whims of a perfect daughter? You and father forcibly pushed your beliefs
onto me. All that's left of me is a simple puppet, unable to do anything except to listen to your orders. What an adventure that turne
d out to be!
"I still remember the dark depths of the pools of water like it was yesterday. Maybe it was yesterday. How long have you been dead fo
r? Oh well, I don't really care. I really don't. How can I care about somebody who constantly tried to kill me for not being number one?
It sure gets really tiring, after a while." Making her way over to a violin case on the side, Laelia was hesitant to pick it up. When she
did, she stroked it lovingly. "I adored your violin. You taught me how to play the violin. Despite all my hate, this is the only thing that
I'm actually grateful to you. Now that you're gone, this violin is mine."
Picking up the stray bow that was lying on the side, Laelia removed the case on her violin and positioned it. Pointing it at the portra
it of her mother, Laelia hummed to herself. "And to you, I dedicate this farewell song.
"Now... It's time for you to disappear. For good.
"You know, I truly wonder why I even bother holding onto these bitter memories. It's not going to do anything but cause more pain
and suffering.
"I hate you so much to the point where you couldn't even begin to imagine. However, wasn't confessing our hate in a way confessing
our love in our dysfunctional family? I never got the love I should have received as a child, and you never got the affection that you
should've received from your soulmate. I guess in some aspects we are similar." █
