"Look, I..."
Lana wrapped a stray strand of hair around her finger mindlessly, struggling to find the right words to respond to the delivery man. It has only been a few weeks since her distant relative passed away, and she wasn't entirely too certain what to make of the current situation. She didn't know her aunt too well, and if anything, Lana nearly forgot that she even existed. It came to her as a shock when she discovered that her Aunt Macy even mentioned her in the will, stating that she will leave her one and only love, Jonathan, to her care. Lana had no idea what to do with this, for not only was she struggling to take care of herself sometimes, but it would be much more difficult having another mouth to feed.
This, of course, was even stranger in that Jonathan was not in fact her spouse or child, but rather, her pet tortoise.
She had never even seen a tortoise before, yet alone taken care of one-- and right now, there was one standing right in front of her on the counter. She sighed, having just cleaned the counter. Lana co-owned a small bakery with a friend, and the two of them worked hard to keep the place up and running without too much outside help.
However, there wasn't much she could do to evade this current situation. After reasoning with herself, she concurred that it would most likely be best if she gave it a try. After all, it was only a tortoise. How hard could it be? A trip to the pet store wouldn't hurt, either, to see if she could pick up some tips.
"...thanks. You wouldn't happen to know where I could find the nearest pet store, would you?"
