Username:: MotherMother
Name:: Lucian
Gender:: Male
Personality:: When Lucian greeted the world he was a friendly, bubbly little kalon with not a worry in the world. He loved to explore and play pretend, like many kits did. He was too young and oblivious to understand the problems in his broken family. His dad's life was cut short when he stormed off to the pub after he and Lucian's mother had a fight. In a daze he got in the car and started driving. That night he did not come back, but an officer instead was standing on their doorstep.
Lucian was too young to understand, and his mom tried to hide it from him as much as she could. So, he was still the outgoing kalon that his family... or what remained of it... knew.
Now, it's hard for a single mother to handle the family while going through grief. You'd think Lucian was forced to grow up too fast, to take care of his mother himself. Well, that's far from the truth. Lucian's mother managed to give him a nearly perfect childhood and always babied him, giving tons of hugs and kisses. Lucian was never aware of the struggle his mother was fighting, because she never talked to him about it. He knew dad was gone, but the sadness didn't warp his whole life.
Lucian made plenty of friends as the eccentric, adventurous kalon. But as he advanced through his school years, his peers were growing up around him, and he couldn't keep up. They were maturing, taking on responsibilities like caring for younger siblings, meanwhile Lucian was still being babied by his mom. She did a great job making sure his father's death didn't make him grow up too fast, but in doing so it actually made him fall behind. Lucian was still collecting baseball cards as his friends got their first jobs. Abandoned by his friends by unstoppable personalities, he felt his perfect life slipping away from him, running ahead while he couldn't keep up.
Friends faded. They weren't interested in immature jokes or exploring. As he asked them to play, they always gave him a funny look and would ask if he meant 'hang out.'
Now this lost kalon started to lose his happy self. That happy self followed the friends as they left him behind. It happened slowly but he eventually realized he'd lost everyone he knew at school. At first it came as a thought, hinting to him that he was alone. He'd ignore it, but it'd always come back. Then a nagging voice prodded him, questioning why the others left him. What's wrong with him? And it seemed that soon the outgoing kalon was gone, replaced with a dark cloud of depression. He changed, but not in the way that would get him back his friends.
He became very irritable, and it was easy to make him snap. He had a pessimistic look on life, and resorted to bringing people down with him. He became a bit of a bully, which actually gained him popularity in the school. Somehow he made it to the top ranks in his grade and was deemed unapproachable and the 'alpha wolf.' The other not-so-nice kalons were drawn to him and are now his "friends." Being one of the most popular kids in school only boosted his cockiness and made him into more of a jerk. He'd pick on others, and be disgusted if anyone thought they could even think of coming near him, as he of course was too good for them.
But then there was a thought, hinting to him that he wasn't alone. He'd ignore it, but it'd always come back. Then a nagging voice prodded him, questioning why, as the top dog in school, he still wasn't happy. What's wrong with him? And the outgoing kalon was still gone, replaced with the unfavourable persona. He didn't want this kind of life, he didn't want to be an angry, spiteful monster.
Everyone at school knew his nasty reputation, and he wanted to start fresh, so he went to a park he loved as a kit. He found a
stranger and started talking to them. The chatted for a while, and though it had a rocky start, the relationship grew strong. Now, in the park where he always played as a child, he finally grew up. It was time to take control of his life and not get left behind anymore. No longer will he feel outcast. It will be quite the journey, but surely he'll make it.
Quirks::
• Whenever there is a thunderstorm, Lucian always counts how many seconds are between each crack of thunder, a habit that was taught to him as a kit to calm him down and keep fear away.
• Lucian likes to flick his ears a
lot. It's really annoying to the kalons around him, but he can't help himself. He usually does this in uncomfortable situations, as a way to release some nervousness the same way a normal kalon might fidget around.
• Lucian
must chew gum until it loses
all it's flavour. He simply can't spit out fresh gum.
• Lucian has a mild stutter, which can get frustrating to both him and his friends when he gets tongue-tied over a word. Others often demand if he can just talk a little slower and focus on the words so they don't have to hear his stutter, since it's "only mild so it'll be easy to cure". Lucian gets very upset over this because it's not that simple.
• When Lucian listens to music, he must listen to the very end of the song.
