--- curled against her father's plush fur, her eyes gazing down at the stack of books the two had checked out together at the library. She smiled sweetly at her dad and nudged his paw. "What do you want to read first, dad?" she inquired with a soft smile. Rosario's face lit up with approval and gently stroked his daughter's sleek pelt, his eyes scanning over the carefully-made tower of books. He lifted his girl into his arms and swirled her around, the scent of strawberry shampoo filling his nose as he held his beloved child. "How about... a novel?" he asked her, gazing at a thick book in particular. --- enthusiastically nodded her head, knowing fully well that her father knew all of the best books. "Oh yes, daddy!" she cried, her excited voice so light and youthful, like the baying of a newborn lamb. Rosario snuggled her closer before picking out the chapter book he had in mind.
--- flicked her glittering eyes at the hardcover he'd chosen. She squealed with delight at the sight of a dragon swooping from the heavens, it's scales bursting with hues. "Wings of Fire, volume three!" she whispered, hesitantly touching the mythical creature on the front. "I've been waiting forever to read the 3rd one, daddy, how did you know?"
Rosario laughed breezily and set his daughter down on the nest of blankets the two had made. "Father's instinct," he replied with a wink.
---'s small paw clutched at the hem of her mother's skirt, her gaze eager as anything. She trailed after her mother no matter how fast or slow she walked, a constant shadow by her mom's side. Alga giggled, her voice sparkling with amusement, and bent down to envelop her baby girl in an affectionate hug. "Oh darling," she exclaimed with an enchanting smile. "You are so adorable." Joy flashed across ---'s face at Alga's praise. She stood up on her tippy-toes to brush her paw against the bundle of daises tucked behind her mother's ear. "So pretty," she said quietly. "Could I have some flowers, too?" Alga laughed once more and lifted her child into the shopping cart seat. "Of course, baby," she replied with a grin. "Maybe we can grab some more flower seeds for our garden? Now that you mention it, I'd love another row of tulips..."
--- beamed at her mom and nodded. "Could we get some popsicles too, mommy?" she pleaded. "The mixed-berry flavor? They're really, really yummy, and super chilly too." She pointed to the freezer isle and pretended to fan herself with a paw, suggesting that a popsicle would be the perfect way to cool off during the hottest days of summer. It was indeed hot outside, a burning 105 degrees. Alga contemplated this for a moment and finally shrugged, casting a playful glance over her shoulder. "I don't see why not!"
