backstory & why it loves fire [a mixed story] wrote:a small plumie sat against the window, resting it's head on his paw. he let out a sigh of boredom, his gaze staring blankly out of the window. raindrops slid down the glass, more rain pattering down onto the roof as thunder crackled in the sky. the plumie jumped and slipped into the real world as a flash of lighting appeared in the sky nearby. he climbed down from the window, onto his bed then leaped onto the ground. as the plumie made it's way across the floor, he heard a shout from downstairs; "entei! dinner's ready!" entei's eyes flashed with sudden hunger, and he ran over to the stairs, rushing down them quickly and running into the kitchen. he inhaled the air, smiling. "mm, berries." he said as he climbed onto the chair. entei looked at his plate. the wooden dish was smoothly rounded in the middle, filled with all different kinds of berries. "oh, i don't know which one to pick- they all look delicious," after a while of staring at the berries, he picked out a berry at random and popped it in his mouth. "mmm," entei grinned as he ate another pawful of berries. "they don't just look delicious," he said between mouthfuls, "they are delicious." after a while, which seemed like a few seconds, entei found himself scooping his paw into empty air. "finished already?" he sighed, swiping his tongue across his jaws. "thanks, mom." he took his plate up to the sink, sliding it into the warm water. entei then decided to go outside. he walked over to the back door. it was still raining. "but it's only a little bit of water. it won't do any harm," entei told himself, unlocking the door and stepping outside. the rain sounded deafeningly loud. as he looked around the garden, entei noticed a stream of water flowing across the grass. he began to walk over to the water source, but as soon as a single drop of rain hit his fur, after he stepped out from under the shelter, his eyes turned to slits and he backed away. something about the water touching him made him feel uneasy. the way it trickled down his face. how it freezes the spot on his fur it touched. entei shivered. "not letting that happen again." he decided, walking with his back to the wall to avoid getting wet. he quickly leaped into the shelter of the trees, landing right next to the water. entei trotted down the edge of the river, following it. eventually it lead to a fence. a small gap was at the bottom of the word, splinters scattered around the edge. the water flowed through the hole. he attempted to squeeze through, but his body was going to touch the water. entei pulled himself out, not wanting to touch it. he began picking at the fence with his claws, shards of wood began to fall off. suddenly, a large bit of wood fell off and landed beside him. that was enough for him to fit through, so entei crawled underneath with ease. he stood up, looking around. trees surrounded him, occasionally a few drops of water dropped from the branches, then disappearing into the earth once it hit the ground. the storm wasn't as audible here- the trees were packed with birdsong. - wip
