I chose to name him after my neighbors' wonderful german shepherd. I've based Rexel's personality a little off the real Rex, using traits such as his loyalty, love for children, and athletic ability.

Jonathan;

to me, Jonathan is a heroic name. From a favorite cartoon character to my cousin who fights for our country, people with the name Jonathan always stick out as heroes to me, and I wanted to incorporate that into Rex's personality.

Cohen;

I didn't have a specific meaning in mind for his last name, I just thought this one sounded nice and fit him well.

❝Hey, I'm Rexel. Nice to meet you! -shakes hand- I'm a twenty year old jelly bean dragon and apparently I'm supposed to tell you about myself. I guess I'll start with my name. Actually, my entire name is Rexel Jonathan Cohen. Just call me Rex, though, everyone does. -grins-
I grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina and had a pretty normal childhood. I was kind of a mess as a teen, but my grandpa helped straighten me out and set me on the path I'm on now. He'll always have my respect for that.
So what path am I on? Honestly sometimes it feels like I have a foot in each of two lives. To some, I'm Rex. A normal(albeit quirky) guy who still lives with his folks, plays just about every sport, doesn't like chocolate, and is some kind of mad computer genius.
To others, I'm Agent Cohen of V.I.G.I.L. Ethical hacker, rookie field agent, tactical genius, and the guy who drinks too much coffee. Tch, as if.
It's where the two intersect that things get interesting. See, part of the time I live in an apartment in New York, near the V.I.G.I.L. headquarters. When I have time off, I live with my parents in North Carolina. They've been great about all of this, as well as my friends. Thing is, some beans can't see past my job, to who I really am. They act like I'm some supercool secret agent straight from a comic book or something. Honestly I wish they'd just see me for who I am as an individual. But hey, at least I know who my real friends are.
My family and friends mean the world to me. If anything were to happen to them- I honestly can't even bear to think about it. I would go to any lengths to protect them, and I believe if it came to it I would even lay down my life for any one of them.
As for my quirks and anything else you ever wanted to know about me, well, you're not getting them out of me- haha. Keep reading to find out.

Rexel is the most loyal friend you could have. He values respect and trust, and believes that relationships without either are on the road to failure. If you tell him a secret he will keep it. He's a great listener, and kindly offers advice to anyone with a problem. Order and consistency are important to him and he can sometimes be controlling, going to great lenths in an attempt to keep them. He often has a puzzle sitting out at his apartment- putting the pieces into their places gives him great satisfaction and helps him think. He is fiercely protective of his friends and family, sometimes overly so. Rex is usually very confident, although past events have caused him to struggle with the fear of accidentally causing harm to come to those close to him. This why he is so protective of his loved ones. However, he's never told anyone about this phobia that haunts his nightmares. Rexel is athletic and intelligent. He loves a good conversation but is definitely not opposed to simply joking around. Rex usually comes across as competent and friendly. He's definitely a hands on guy and loves fixing things. He spends most of his free time playing sports, repairing just about any broken object he can get his paws on, or sharpening his hacking skills.
Rexel has a sharp sense of style, and as a result of growing up in the south, has very good manners. "Yes sir" or "No 'Ma'am" come out of his mouth automatically. He has an especially high respect for women, and always tries to be very gentlemanly.
He loves kids, especially little girls, and wants to get married and have his own family some day.

Rexel works for V.I.G.I.L.
What does that stand for? Well, the name comes from the word vigilante. You might think something along the lines of Spider-Man. And you'd be just about be right. The dictionary definition of the vigilante is as follows.

•a member of a self-appointed group of citizens who undertake law enforcement in their community without legal authority, typically because the legal agencies are thought to be inadequate.

This agency saw the shortcomings in their government's online security system and instead of complaining, well, they did something about it. That is how V.I.G.I.L. was born. Monitering the extensive cyberwebs for suspicious and illegal activity and communications, they put some of the greatest computer minds of the decade to work neutralizing cyber threats. When the danger is not stoppable online, field agents are sent out to gain control of the situation. V.I.G.I.L. has stopped many attacks on the country and will continue to so long as their agents live and breathe.

it's true. he'll work late into the night on a given puzzle, only to discover one or two pieces are missing. He will literally search for hours until he finds them or just collapses from exhaustion.

yep. mowing the lawn, going on a mission, dressed up in a fancy suit, or just playing basketball.

• he talks to himself
when trying to solve a problem, he often mutters or all out talks to himself as he paces around. usually he doesn't even realize that he's doing it.

• coin collecting
Rexel's missions with V.I.G.I.L. take him all around the world, and whenever he travels somewhere new, he brings back a few coins to add to his collection. It's quite vast, he has several jars filled to the brim with the shiny trinkets.

•basketball
his absolute favorite sport. no matter what the weather, you can bet if he has some spare time he'll be down at the basketball net.

•rock climbing
there's almost nothing that excites Rex more than scaling a steep wall. it's very physically demanding, and that's probably why he likes it so much. he loves to challenge himself on new cliffs.

•swimming
one of Rexel's favorite workouts is swimming. as a younger bean he swam competitively, but now he just uses it as a work out to help him stay in top physical condition

While Rexel does his best to be respectful and kind toward everyone he meets, only certain individuals have what it takes to have a true friendship with him. Once you earn his respect, you have his unending loyalty.

• his parents

Rexel loves his parents. Though his relationship with them has been a little rocky at times, they've always supported him in his pursuits and dreams and he'll always appreciate that. He loves them both with all his heart.
Rex talks to his dad a lot. Whenever he needs advice, his dad is definitely who he would go to.
They both have to have things done 'just so', and sometimes this causes an argument, but within a few hours it's usually like it never happened.
His mom is very special to him. Some of his most precious memories are of her singing him to sleep when he was a young bean. His sweet side definitely comes out around his mom, he often leaves little notes for her and even sends her flowers on special days.

• his (late) grandpa

Rexel's grandpa helped him through a hard time in his life. At that point Rex had felt like no matter what he did, he was a total failure and he finally just gave up even trying to do right. His parents couldn't get through to him, but during a visit with his grandpa, he finally opened up about his problems. His grandpa understood where he was coming but and challenged him to keep on trying. Rex was inspired by tales of his grandpa's adventures as an agent of V.I.G.I.L, and before long his dream was to join V.I.G.I.L himself.
Sadly, his grandpa passed away only a few months after that dream became a reality. Rexel devastated and affected very deeply by this, and sometimes the fear of loosing the rest of his family haunts his nightmares.

• Raina the Kiamara

Friend? More like almost-sister.
Rexel has known his neighbor, Raina for almost as long as he can remember. She's two years younger than him, and despite the fact that they're different species, they've always had kind of a sibling dynamic. They tease each other a lot and sometimes bicker, but Rex would do anything for Raina and knows she would do the same for him. They're both very athletic and enjoy playing sports, especially basketball together. Raina often comes to Rexel for advice, and he's always cheered up by being around her. They've seen each other at their best and worst moments, and Rex considers Raina to be his best friend.

→why I want him and my plans for him ;;

It's hard to explain how much I want this amazing bean. He's already so special to me and I've just connected with him so much. If I win him, I'll be very active in the JBD community. I hope to find some exciting roleplays for him and maybe even start a group roleplay for other beans to join V.I.G.I.L and have adventures together. I would spoil him with art, he's already drawn all over my math and other schoolwork. I know this little blurb probably doesn't matter in the judging, but I just thought I'd tell you a bit about my plans for him.
