Hello, my name is Jade, formerly known as *fennekin*. One of my favorite ice-creams is mint, so I just had to try out for this kiamara. ='u'= I've always wanted a kiamara, and its my dream to get a custom one someday (although its very unlikely) but for now, I just try out for kia's I like the look of. I love how this one is very simple, yet still gorgeous.
If I win, this will be my first ever kiamara, and I have tried out for other kia's in the past. I will do lots of art for her, and look after her well <3

M ᴇ ᴇ ᴛ T ʜ ᴇ K ɪ ᴀ ᴍ ᴀ ʀ ᴀ...

"Hello!" the small, somewhat bouncy kia calls over to you, looking up from her drawing. "I wont tell you my name, you can find out yourself!" She grins at you and continues drawing. You take a sneak peek at her drawing. Its a drawing of herself, and written above it is 'Affinity'. "This is a drawing of me, and thats my name! Affinity!" She had noticed you peering over her shoulder and had stopped drawing. "I'm only 1 year old, I bet you thought I was older!" You smile as the green kiamara lifts up a paw to push her long fringe out of her eyes.

G ᴇ ɴ ᴅ ᴇ ʀ...

"Im quite obviously a girl." She exclaims, eating a bit of mint ice-cream before continuing.

H ɪ s ᴛ ᴏ ʀ ʏ...

"Well...." Affinity looked down at the floor. She doesn't like talking about her past, so i guess I have to.

Although Affinity seems like a happy, care-free girl, it wasn't always like this.
When Affinity was just a cub (Is that what you call baby kiamaras, I dont know x3) she was forced to run away after a forest fire ravaged the forest, engulfing anything caught in its wrath. She managed to escape - barely. Her den, her belongings, her... mother. All destroyed by the fire.
She ran for what seemed like days, hid on the streets, on the constant run from any dangers. She had gotten quite skilled at hiding, always sticking to the shadows. But one day her luck ran out.
It was just a regular day at first - waking up, going in search of breakfast. She knew a nearby Italian restaurant that usually served nice food. The owners of the restaurant knew her, and would happily treat her to one of their freshly cooked lasagnas, or anything else she fancied. On the way, she didn't notice the local pound's van pull up around the corner, and drive steadily towards her. Before she knew it, she was dangling in the air, a firm hold on her scruff preventing her from escaping. Immediately, they threw her into the back of the van and headed off to the pound.

When they arrived, Affinity had glared at all the other animals in here. She didn't belong in a pound! But she also knew there was nothing she could do until hopefully, someone comes and picks her up.
For days, she was lying in the back of her cage, only getting up for food or water. She could hear the other dogs, and even a few other kiamaras, barking and howling constantly, and it gave her a headache.
Eventually, some people came and took her out. Some strange people had come to see her, to see if they would take her home with them. The pound owner gave them Affinity, and they left, Affinity starting her new life.

At first she thought it'd be great. Her owners were rich, and their house was massive. The garden was massive, and full of different sights and smells. Unfortunately, her owners were also very snobby. They kept her in a cage, although it was quite large, and when she was allowed out, she had to be kept on a chain connected to a sturdy wooden pole. Affinity hated her new life. She wanted to be with a family that loved her, not one that just wanted her for show.
One day, her owners had left the mansion to go and visit family for a few days. Affinity was left there, still tied to the pole. She began digging at the base, gradually loosening it. Finally, with a big tug at the chain, the pole crashed to the ground and she was free... except that the chain was still tied around her neck, and the chain was still attached to the pole. Affinity dragged the pole behind her as she walked over to a large rock. Finding a sharp corner, she got part of the chain around it and pulled. It took a while, but eventually the chain snapped. She ran to the back of the garden and dug underneath the fence, as that was the only way out.

Once on the other side, she continued her previous life - except she was in a different place, in the rich part of town. People stayed away from her like the plague. She lived with it though. One day, she was at the local park, in a small.. well, you could call it a cave, but it was more like a mud hollow with tree roots half covering the top. Someone found Affinity and gently picked her up. At first she was wondering what was happening, and tried to struggle out of the girl's grip. But when the girl started talking to her, to calm her down, she just lay there, bundled up in the girl's arms. Of course she was a bit big, but the girl could manage. She carried Affinity over to her mom, where she agreed to keep Affinity, on the condition that Affinity wouldn't do anything bad.

Affinity is a very caring kiamara, always looking out for friends, and helping them in whatever way she can. If its not her friends, its family, and also animals. She loves most animals, and spends much of her time with them.

Affinity does have her playful side along with her caring side. Her favorite toy has to be feathers, she loves to chase them and watch them float to the ground. Occasionally, she loves company, particularly playful company.

Meaning of the Name: EmCeecee is the literal spelling of the abreviation MCC, or Mint Chocolate Chip.

Gender: Male

Why do I want this Kia? I cannot think of a better 'first Kia' than this little guy. I love mint chocolate chip ice cream, despite my lactose intolerence, and when I saw this kia, I just fell in love. If I won him, he would definitely be a perminent feature in my signature, and he would always be showered in love and art.

Personality: EmCeecee is a very innocent Kia, with a mind only for mint chocolate chip and having fun in the cold. EmCeecee loves ice, snow, and other cold things, which is why he loves ice cream so much! He is constantly eating ice cream because the feeling of being cold just makes him euphoric. He is supportive of all of his friends and is very optimistic. Althought EmCeecee is usually jumping off walls in excitement, he actually can mellow out for a short time to act as listening ear for a friend in need. EmCeecee is not exactly a social Kia, though he loves to play and have fun, he prefers the company of one or two close friends rather than a mass of just good friends.

My fondest memory of eating Mint Chocolate Chip ice Cream is when I was really young. I hadn't gotten my feathers yet, and my parents gave me an entire tub of mint chocolate chip ice cream one day! I ate the whole thing in an hour! It was all goopy and gross, but I didn't care! Mommy and Daddy were sitting there watching me, and I just had so much fun! That's why I love Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream!"

Like most kids, Chip loves sweets! Ice cream of nearly any flavor is his favorite, followed closely by cake. His favorite type of cake is confetti cake but he'll try any kind you put in front of him! Mom doesn't let him eat sweets very often, so when he's allowed to its a very special and cherished treat.

For my main extra, I chose to make a doll! The colors aren't completely accurate because of the type of clay I was using. I only work with colored clay, absolutely no paint, and used Sculpey Bake & Bend for most of him. Bake & Bend is only available in 8 colors and I used all of my white making him, so not every color is perfect and not every marking could be made. Bake & Bend is prone to cracking, which is why you may be able to spot fixes and cracks. Although it has its problems (and is not bendy, despite the name and stock photos), Bake & Bend has an interesting texture that's different from other polymer clay. For the brown parts (mane, eyes, nose, and spots) I used normal Sculpey, as Bake & Bend does not come is a brown even close to accurate. He took me around eleven hours to complete, including all baking, cooling, freezing, and glazing steps. His arms, legs, and tail are all jointed and he's about 3 inches tall (not counting legs, with tail he's a bit below 5 inches long). Chip is the 14th jointed clay doll I've made and the 2nd I've made with Bake & Bend.


The first progress shots I took! I snapped them real quick with my boyfriend's cellphone so I could show a friend. Before this stage he looked pretty freaky, but once he got his eyes and nose he really started coming together.
What's been finished in these photos: body, head, green back marking, muzzle, eyes, nose, ears.

What new things have been finished: face and ear spots.

New things: arms, legs, green markings on arms & tail, arm & leg spots, back spots, tail spots, tail fur.

And finally, hair!!! I was worried I'd screw up the hair, as he looked so cute without it, but I'm thrilled at how it turned out! All that's left from this point is glazing, which I did not take any progress photos of.




After a night (and morning) full of many coats of Sculpey Satin Glaze, Chip is finished! He wasn't supposed to be this shiny (I'm not entirely sure what happened, if the glaze was wonky or the Bake & Bend reacted oddly), but the extra shine makes his eyes more lifelike so its not that big a deal.

Chip has never known his birthmother. When he was just a few days old, his birthmother brought him to an orphanage. He doesn't know the full story behind why she chose to do this, but she left a small box with him and very emphasized instructions with the caretakers: "Make sure he knows I love him." When he was younger he didn't really understand, he assumed that all children lived like he did. As he got older, the caretakers slowly began explaining to him more and more how his life was different. Unlike some of the other kia children, Chip held no resentment towards his mother and didn't ravenously crave being adopted. He liked the caretakers, they were always good to him (and all the other children, of course).

When it was discovered that he suffered from PPS, all hope of being adopted was completely crushed. The caretakers never said it but they expected him to live in the orphanage for the rest of his life. And he knew it. While he hadn't minded being there when there was a chance he'd find a family, he wanted nothing more than to leave the orphanage once that chance was taken from him. The caretakers did everything they could to make sure he was happy, going above and beyond for him, and while he appreciated it quite a lot it wasn't the same as having a real family. After a year of watching his non-PPS friends all be adopted, he started to move on and accept his life. His caretakers loved him and always made sure he had everything he needed. Some children didn't even have that. He was still sad, but tried his very best to be grateful for what he did have.

A few months later, a gray adult kia ended up at the orphanage. She was a nomad, she wandered the world and had no place to call home. Her goal in life was to experience as many different things and learn as much about the world as she could. The caretakers agreed to let her stay for a month or two, to tend to the yards and teach the children some things. Chip liked her from the very first moment that they met. She was so unique and interesting! She taught him, and the other children, all about a variety of things. Her specialties were flowers and gardening but she also told them tales about her adventures with all sorts of lessons tucked into them - everything from which berries are poisonous to how to befriend a frog.

As her time there pressed on, Chip became more and more attached to her. He was deathly afraid of the day she would leave and hoped desperately that somehow she never would. If she was a caretaker he could be content in never finding a family of his own. He did truly love his caretakers, but there was something special about this gray kia.

When the day she was leaving arrived he didn't even want to get out of bed. He pretended to be sick so he wouldn't have to leave the comfort of his warm blankets but the gray kia showed up in the Boys' Room, looking for him. He tried to hide under his pillow but she wasn't fooled. "Why didn't you come downstairs, Chip?" she asked him gently, sitting down next to him.

"I didn't come down because I'm sick," he mumbled meekly and a sly smile spread across her face. She knew better than that. "I. . .I didn't want to say goodbye," he whispered, so quietly she could barely hear him.

"Why would you be saying goodbye? Haven't you packed your bags?"

I own Kuluri and Eleanor, friends own K'okeoi and Nurru. I have their permission to use them and they helped me make sure all personality things are accurate.


Kuluri is the kia that Chip calls "mom". Although she didn't give birth to him and only raised him for a small portion of his life, Kulu means more to him than he can ever describe. While he has a type of love for his birthmother and is thankful for her, he has another type of even stronger love for Kulu. She hadn't even wanted a child, not when she stumbled upon the orphanage or in the future, and yet still she couldn't help but adopt him. They share a very special and close bond, both being very protective over one another. They cannot imagine their lives without each other and although they don't always see eye to eye, Kuluri would do anything for her son. She's found a special joy in being a mother that she didn't know existed and each day she looks forward to spending time with him.


Eleanor is Kuluri's girlfriend who Chip currently calls "Aunt Ella", sometimes just "Ella". It took Chip some time to warm up to her and the idea of sharing Kulu, but they've actually grown quite close. The only thing Chip is really conflicted about these days is what to call her when (hopefully!) she and Kulu become mates. His favorite thing to do with Aunt Ella is to practice making up stories to tell her. She always give him honest, but encouraging, feedback even if she doesn't speak. Chip also really loves when they sit together and read books. They read their own books silently but he finds it very comforting to read in the same room as her.


K'okeoi is like a third mother to Chip, and he calls her "Aunty Keoi". K'ok is from the same town as Eleanor, where they grew up together. The two stumbled upon each other later in life and all three adults became friends. K'ok is an adventurer so she doesn't get to spend a ton of time personally with Chip, but she loves him and thinks about him very often. She sends him letters and postcards while she's away and even brings him back interesting trinkets when she returns from an adventure. He has a whole shelf full of the stuff Aunty Keoi has brought him, and its threatening to take over yet another shelf. When she's not adventuring, she loves taking Chip camping and on mini-adventures.


Nurru is K'ok's mate, and Chip calls him "Uncle Nurru". He hasn't actually spent a lot of time with Nurru and they haven't really gotten to know each other, but K'ok has told him many stories about her beloved mate. Nurru is sort of like a mythical legendary figure to Chip, and he looks up to him even though they don't interact directly very much.

When Chip was officially old enough to count as a 'kid', and not as a toddler or baby anymore, he went through the same physical exam all the other Kids at the orphanage did. This exam specifically looks for problems in kia children, such as PPS. This is when Chip's PPS was discovered. The doctor noted that he seemed that he would keep growing until he was old enough to be a Teenager, but he couldn't guarantee when the PPS clock would strike and freeze Chip's growth.

Kulu adopted Chip when he was about halfway between a Kid and a Teenager. This allowed her to watch him grow up for a little while before his development stopped. Chip is of course more mature than a kid, but as he didn't ever have to 'grow up' the way non-PPS teens do he's still very childlike. His family all treat him with respect and love, but they are well aware of his limitations and do their best to be understanding about his condition. While he may have a bit more maturity than a true child does, his mind is still (and will forever be) very young. There are a lot of things he just doesn't, and can't, understand or do.

Although him not being as 'grown up' as one might expect from a teen (even one with PPS) surprises and confuses some kias, Kulu cherishes it. She takes pride in the fact that she does all she can to keep him from being forced to 'grow up' more. Often times she struggles about how much to shield him from certain things, but in the end she always tries to be as honest as possible without scaring him. He knows all about the dangers of the world, about how some kias are homeless or sick, about how crucial money is to surviving, and things of that nature. But beyond such basic things he truly needs to know, Kulu tries her best to give him the longest childhood she possibly can. She feels that it would be incredibly unfair to him to put unnecessary worry and stress on his shoulders and take away from his 'childhood'. While normal kias will grow and mature, learning to accept the bad parts of life, Chip doesn't get to reach the same level of maturity, so bad things will affect him differently and for much longer.

Chip absolutely loves writing stories! Coming up with an interesting new story gives him the biggest thrill. He loves how much a simple story can change someone - make their day better, make them think, make them consider something they never would have otherwise. One perk of his PPS is that he'll forever have a much more childlike imagination, which is quite a blessing in disguise for a writer! His favorite genres include fantasy, action, and adventure but he tries to experiment as much as he can.


A writer who doesn't read isn't a very good writer, so Chip does his best to read everything he can get his paws on. Like with writing his favorite genres to read are fantasy, action and adventure. But he experiments even more with reading than he does with writing. He'll devour anything from an instructional booklet to a book about law. His reading level is quite high, as he does his best to learn as much as he can about words from different time periods and to always keep expanding his vocabulary. However there are some things he just can't quite comprehend, but maybe one day he'll get the hang of them!


Although Chip's "thumb" may be technically green, he's not very good at gardening yet. Mom is still teaching him the finer arts of raising plants but he always tries his best, which usually ends up being pretty decent. He's super awesome at pulling weeds, and even likes doing it! Keeping the plants company is one of his favorite pastimes, he finds it very relaxing. Watering is far from his specialty but he's getting better and better at it the more he tries.


Mom has just let his start helping her with her bees, but so far he really enjoys it. Most of his "keeping" consists of watching mom do the work and saying hi to his favorite bees (but don't let the others know he plays favorites). He really really wants to help out more with the bees, but his mother doesn't think he's ready yet. For now most of his bee-time is spent with the few that are allowed indoors. He even has his own personal bee, named Nancy, who hangs out with him when he talks to the flowers.


Chip isn't allowed to go on really big adventures like Aunty Keoi does but he absolutely loves the small adventures he's allowed to go on. Mostly the adventures include traveling somewhere (which can take a while, the longest traveling they've done so far was three whole weeks!), spending the night somewhere neat (the wilderness, a bandit camp, a ghost town, etc), and doing lots of fun outdoors stuff (hiking, fishing, hunting, diving, etc). Every time they go on an adventure he learns something new and works on older skills, but his favorite things to do are hike and identify plants.


Don't let the adults know about this, but Chip heard Aunty Keoi telling mom and Ella that she and Nurru plan to have kids of their own soon! Aunty Keoi even asked if it would be okay for the kids to stay here when she and Nurru go on adventures! Ever since he heard that he's been secretly making plans about how he'd help his cousins. Aunty said she was worried about the kids not knowing her if she kept going on lots of adventures and it really hurt Chip. He made it his silent duty to learn as much as he can about Aunty so when her kids stay with them he can teach them all about her. He's made a secret promise to her to make sure the little ones know the difference between mommy and aunties and between siblings and cousin, because while he's old enough to know it someone will have to teach the kids and its very very important to him that they understand. He also has a whole notebook full of plans for mini adventures to take the little ones on! They won't be allowed to leave the yard probably, but they'll still have a ton of fun!

When mom explained to Chip that he'd never be allowed to have feathers because he's PPS, he was absolutely devastated. He'd been looking forward to getting his feathers ever since he was very young. No one had ever told him that he couldn't have them until he felt like he was so close to getting them he could taste it. He moped around the house for weeks after he found out and it just broke his mother's heart. After she talked to K'ok about it, his aunt began secretly planning something special for him.

She immediately knew she wanted to make him a necklace, and after a lot of research she decided on kimberlite. K'ok carefully planned a long adventure and spent many weeks searching for just the right chunk of kimberlite - she wanted it to be very unique and interesting, to have a green xenolith as well as a diamond xenocryst. Once she finally found the perfect rock, she took it to a very skilled jeweler and had them make a one of a kind necklace just for Chip. He absolutely loved it and its by far his most prized possession, he could lose everything else he owned and be okay but he'd be broken if he lost his necklace.

At first the way he obsessed over it was endearing, but then became a little weird to the adults. He took it more seriously than K'ok intended or any of them expected. But over the course of a few weeks he calmed down quite a bit and the grown ups began to find his obsession cute, realizing that it was just another side affect of his childlike brain.


When Chip's birthmother surrendered him to the orphanage she left him with a small box. It contained three letters (each with instructions to be read at a different age), a small stuffed bear, and a simple piece of black cord. The first letter was read to him as a very young kia and he knows every word by heart. The second was read to him after Kulu adopted him and the third has yet to be opened. Every night since he arrived at the orphanage he's slept with his bear. Scruffles is very special to him even though he's falling apart. His mother has tried many times to fix Scruffles, but Chip won't allow it. When he was younger Chip didn't know what to do with the cord, but now he wears it as a bracelet. He knows it was very special to his birthmother, he can just feel it, so he likes to keep it close. Soon Chip will be allowed to read the last letter, which will finally answer all of the questions he has about his past.

Solstice may appear reserved or shy, but really
she just gets easily absorbed with what she's doing. She's a lover
of puzzles and mysteries,and always seeks out people to ask

and often becomes reclusive if working on a big puzzle.

Sol has a very sweet tooth. She loves sugar, and claims it 'helps
her think'. She often has ice-cream or chocolate in hand, but
somehow manages to keep healthy, though she might be a few
kilos overweight. When she pays attention to her surroundings,
Sol can be very empathetic towards others, and is a good
problem solver.

Solstice also gets edgy and moody a lot, which might be due to her
permanent teenage hormones. Her worst fear is getting terminally sick,
and she's an awful hypochondriac.
