What is her favourite ice hockey team?: "My favorite ice hockey team? Hmm. I guess I'll tell yah, but please promise you wont laugh about why. My favorite would have to be the Los Angeles Kings.
They were the first team I'd ever seen slide across the ice, their skates making those little noise as they moved like a pack o' wolves across the sleek stadium. That day was a rainy one with deep grey clouds that refused to blow away no matter how hard you tried. Papa and I were supposed to see an outdoor play, it would've been my first trip to the theater and I had been so rilled up about it all week, making plans about where to sit, who was going to playing who, which actor I guessed would call in sick that day.
But then there came the rain and Papa called it off. I could feel my face crinkling up and my head felt so heavy. I'd never wanted to cry so bad. And then, there was the look on Papa's face, he must've felt the tension, the disappointment.
Papa's don't like to see their babies' cry, especially their little beans. He thought a moment, eyes furrowed in concentration.
Then, he nipped my nose playfully, and suggested the game.
I'd never heard of hockey. I really wasn't one of those sporty girls, I preferred rest, relaxation, oh and plenty of tea {which over the years has turned into a sad flavored coffee addiction. But that's another story for another time.}
He took my paw in his, and asked if I'd like to go later that night. To this day I still get a chill when I enter the stadium. I remember the ceiling, how I had to tilt my neck back to see it. And the cool wind that sweeped in from the open doors.

They were playing against some other team. I hadn't heard of either. But then again, I didn't even know what hockey was until about ten minutes before. Papa pointed out a long piece of poster that held their logos.
"Pick one," he smiled, his voice low and warm beside my ear. It was the only way to talk in such a place. People pushed this way and that, moving our bodies places didn't want to go. but it was strange, I loved the atmosphere. Usually crowds were a bother to me, but those crowds I realized, were of people I had known and who grown with me -people I had to impress, these were different. They didn't care what I did, if I hollered or ran through the sleek hallways of the stadium. They just wanted to watch the game and be loud too.
"Of those?" I asked, my voice raising an octave, my head swiveling to see if anyone would mind. No one did.
There were two. A large crown decked in purple and grey.
And then another, an animal with bared teeth surrounded by a bright, bright red.
I was still young, I must say. But I laugh anyway, at my nervousness.
"This one, please Papa." I replied, poking the crown repeatedly, as he pulled me along to place a bet with a few stray coins.

The animals beat my crowns that day, but I didn't mind. I came back again and again. And again. I've seen only two other games without my crowns as either side, and no, it's never the same. I don't get that feeling of butterflies as we block a goal, or head for the other end of the arena. I don't whoop and holler when we score.
No, I only do that for my crowns."


Favourite ice cream flavour?: "Rum Raisin, but please don't tell Papa, he probably wouldn't approve of his little girl licking a flavor with a dash of liquor. I just can't help it, it's really calming after a hard day of studying. You just take one lick, and mmm, okay now I can handle the biology books. You just can't seem to get that with Double Bubble Trouble for me. With that one, I was popping bubbles all night. The librarians still have forgiven me for what I did to Romeo and Juliet."

Pittsburgh Penguins
{I chose them because my ex boyfriend who I dated for a year introduced me to them and I've been a huge fan ever since. I remember being at his house every game night, wearing a Penguins jersey and hat while screaming at the tv and cheering when we scored and when we fought the other team but didn't get sent to the box. Those are good memories you can't take away}
