Peach Rune
Owner Name:
Sarill
Name:
Kuo
Gender:
Female
Personality:
Kuo is very inquisitive. She likes exploring, even if it sometimes gets her in trouble. She is shy around strangers however, and is reluctant to come and meet people who she does not know. Once she feels comfortable around you though, watch out! She will climb all over you, tangling herself in your hair and clothing. She has a small peach grove that she tends to, and she will reward you with peaches for what she deems ‘good behaviour’. If you get on her bad side, beware of loud squawking and other unpleasantness. Even if you are a stranger, if you do something wrong she will not hesitate to get in your face and complain. Loudly. Even so, Kuo is a very sweet rune and her friends will have all of the peaches they could want.
Why do you wish to have him/her:
The original thing that drew my eye to this rune was the adorable design. Even with the extra set of legs she still looks distinctly like a rune dragon, in her own unique way. I love the beautiful blinding on the fur, the seamless melding of grey and peach to create one cohesive whole, not simply one color but a mix of both. Her fluffiness is something else that I adore, and the whole package creates one scrumptious looking rune!
Where will you keep him/her:
Everywhere! And hopefully on the new site as well ^^
Would you like to breed him/her in the future:
Umm, is this still relevant? But maybe.
Any Quirks:
Kuo is full of quirks, and is not afraid to show them off. To begin with, she loves teacups. She is fond of curling up inside of them and going to sleep. She likes eta as well, but not as much as the cups themselves. Her favourite is one with a pattern of peaches around the side, and a golden rim. Whenever she has disappeared I look for the teacup, and she is inside of it nine times out of ten. She is fond of holing up in nooks and crannies, spaces where it does not look like she will be able to fit. She also likes falling asleep next to or on top of fuzzy runes. Lila is a frequent recipient of this, and had gotten used to the small rune sprawling on top of her and falling asleep. She is a fan of anything sweet, but is vehemently opposed to anything that is artificially flavoured to taste like fruit. If they do not use the real fruit in the flavouring, she will not eat it. Despite all of these quirks she is a truly lovable rune that any bearer would be proud to own.
Other:
The peaches sat in the center of the table, their subtle fragrance perfuming the air. Lila had managed to procure the sweet treats as a Yuletide present for me, although I didn’t know how. My cottage was too far north for the peaches to have been grown locally, and the ground was hard with frost. She must have traded for them somehow, getting them all the way from the south of Eldemore.
“Thank you, Lila,” I told her, scratching her behind the ears. She crooned and nuzzled my cheek from her perch on my shoulder.
I reached forward and grasped a peach, the velvet fuzz soft beneath my fingers. The fruit was juicy, with the right part firmness that assured me the fruit was perfect to eat, not over-ripe.
As I raised the peach from its brethren, a shrill shriek almost made me drop the fruit. Instead, I clutched tighter, leaving indents in the fruit from my fingers and breaking the delicate skin. Juice, sticky and golden, ran down my fingers and onto the small creature clinging to the underside of the fruit.
The creature squawked at me once more before dropping, tumbling free and landing in my outstretched palm. I set the mangled peach down and carefully righted the small creature.
Well, she appears to be a rune I thought as I set the delicate grey and pink creature on her feet. But why does she have four limbs? No rune that I had ever heard of had four legs, unless they were an ancient. And this tiny rune, small enough to fit into the palm of my hand, wasn’t an ancient. At least, I was pretty sure that she wasn’t.
Still, she is adorable, I decided as I watched her lick the sticky juice out of her fur. A small pink tongue darted out, smoothing back fur and removing peach juice at the same time. I ran a single finger along the top of her head, marvelling at the silky softness of her fur. She looked up at me, as if noticing me for the first time.
“Hello,” I said, gazing at her soft, peach-colored eyes. She stared back at me, planting her forelegs on my wrist. I got a nice look at her markings, beautiful peach-colored spirals that heavily resembled the fruit she was found in.
“You are a peach rune, aren’t you?” I asked, feeling silly. She blinked at me, and I took that for agreement. “What’s your name?” I asked and she tilted her head to the side in confusion.
“You don’t have a name, huh? Well, how about the name Kuo?” She nodded vigorously to that, wings bobbing. “Kuo, this is Deoradhan and Lila,” I told her, introducing the tiny rune to my friends.
The little peach rune bobbed her head, leaning down to lick the sweet juice off of my hand from where the peach had dripped earlier.
“That tickles,” I laughed as her rough tongue rasped at my hand. I gently pried her off and settled her on the table, next to Deo and Lila. “Does everyone want a peach?” I asked. Three heads nodded eagerly, and I divvied out the perfect fruits. The orbs sat gently on the table as each rune claimed their fruit.
I could hear gnawing sounds as I picked up the peach I had mangled earlier. The indents from my fingers were still leaking juice, dribbling down into the table. I took a huge bite, feeling the sweetness burst on my tongue as the juice filled my mouth and ran down my chin. The four of us together made one sticky, happy, juice-covered mess of the peaches, leaving only a smattering of peach pits behind. Kuo carefully gathered up the hard seeds, standing over them possessively.
I began to clean up, making no move to touch the peach pits. “I’m guessing that you want to plant them?” I asked the small rune as she tucked the seeds away. She nodded, looking up at me with wide, hopeful eyes. “I’ll help you out, don’t worry,” I told her, glancing at the rune. “But let’s wait until spring, okay? Spring is a time of new beginnings. Although winter can be too. After all, I met you in winter.”
