Day: 13
Choice of Ingredients: (ONLY ONE of each) Small Limes/ Cursola Shed/Gold Leaf/Volbeat Shimmer
Bake!:
It was late afternoon.

“Good thing Myth let us use her kitchen.” Fawkes mused. The Sylveon was busy laying on the floor in the other room, exhausted with a lovely case of hand cramps from doodling.

“Yeah… but remember what they said. Don’t burn anything.” Fate reminded the Zorua, throwing down a cookbook.

“No promises. It’s happened before.” Fawkes smiled.

“Well, Myth said to try to not let it happen. Again.” Sakurune threw a croissant from Myth’s counter at Fawkes, who half-consciously lit one of their paws on fire, catching the croissant and reducing it to ash.

“Fawkes!” Sakurune sighed as Arcane used their wings to fan the fire and smoke out.

“Oops… I wasn’t trying! I rarely try to commit fire crimes!” The Zorua laughed sheepishly.

“Sure…” Sakurune sighed, stuffing her mouth with another unburnt croissant.

“Arcane, you have the ingredients?” Fate asked the Aerodactyl. The ground and flying type nodded.

“Right here.” Arcane said, emptying their satchel of the ingredients the four of them had collected over the past week or so: Volbeat Shimmer for charm, Gold Leaf for zesty fun, Cursola Shed for a cool color, and Small Limes for taste.

The Pokemon began making the pie dough, following Auntie’s recipe as best as they could. Luckily, Myth had made them a very basic pie crust dough to add to, given that the recipe called for it to rest for a bit.

“Right. Now we toast this for a bit… hm.” Sakurune frowned, looking at Fawkes, then back to the oven. Trying to decide which one would be the best option.

“Allow me.” Fate said, taking the pie outside, only to come back in immediately, “Uh. Does anyone know Sunny Day? If not, I’ll have to wake Myth up.” Then someone caught her eye, “I’ll be back!”

Minutes later the Vulpix walked back in, carrying a lightly toasted, still uncooked pie crust. “Stella was walking home. So Sunny Day and a light Weather Ball… and yeah.” The Vulpix explained.

Arcane, who was working on the filling, nodded, “Bring it over here!” They said. Together, the four began scooping the filling into the crust. After which, Fate took outside once more to lightly toast it again. Then Sakurune used her psychic powers to lower the top of the pie onto the rest of it. Fawkes and Arcane carefully pressed down the edges with flameproof forks.

“Now… into the oven!” Sakurune cheered, snatching the pie away from an already-partially-on-fire Fawkes.

They group waited, and when the timer dinged, pulled what was supposed to be the pie out.

“Where did it go?” Arcane asked, scratching their head. All that was in the oven was the pie pan.

Sakurune rolled her eyes, “Remember Cursola Shed makes things invisible?”

“Are we sure about that though? Maybe I should light it on fire to make sure…” Fawkes piped up.

“FAWKES. NO!”

Choice of Ingredients: peach/pinkan berry/Curled Bean Pod Paste/Gracidea Flower
    Bake!: [806 words - mentions chester & cheddar ]
    Code: Select all
"Auntie!, I've got all the ingredients!" Diz called out as he entered the house, as soon as he walked in the smell of pies baking hit him. All kinds of scents were coming from the kitchen, which was a bit overwhelming despite how nice it smelt. He walked into the kitchen to see Auntie baking pies with the other ingredients he had brought her.

He gently set his bag full of ingredients down, watching as Auntie moved around the kitchen in a flurry of movements. Although it was quick her movements were careful and precise, with the ease that only comes from having done this hundreds of times. She was in the zone and hadn't heard him come in through the front door.

Diz began to unpack the supplies and spread them out on the counter, being sure to set aside the ones he was keeping for himself. It was a silly idea but he wanted to make one of his own for Chester —and Cheddar by extension he supposed—, he just hoped Auntie would have the time to help him. She was already busy enough baking for the Halloween festival tomorrow, he didn't want to waste her time when she was already so behind by having her previous pies stolen by wild pokemon.

Auntie looked up and finally noticed him, smiling at him. The look radiated an odd motherly feeling and it eased his nerves, the sensation was comforting and it reminded him of his own mum. Perhaps he should go visit her soon, maybe come early to help with the Christmas cooking this year.

"Oh, thank you, dear!" Auntie said beaming, digging through the ingredients he'd brought her for something in particular. "You've been such a great help I don't know what I would've done without you", she pinched his cheek gently before turning back to her baking. He didn't flinch away from the attention, instead basking in the praise.

"Hey, Auntie..." Diz began, uncharacteristically nervous. He didn't usually have any problems with talking to people, but something about asking the already busy pokemon for help made him feel bad. He almost regretted saying anything to begin with, but he was already this far in now so he just went for it. "I was wondering if you could helpmebakeapie for my friend?" He mumbled hurriedly, the nerves kicking in again.

"What was that dearie?" Auntie asked looking back at him whilst she kneaded the pie crust dough.

"Can you help me bake a pie for my friend please?" He spoke slower, forcing himself to calm down.

Surprisingly her face lit up and she smiled at Diz, "Of course dear, I'm always happy to teach others how to bake it's such a wonderful skill" She spoke, mumbling to herself as she made room next to her and set some of the dough aside. "And then one day perhaps you'll be able to teach your own children, how wonderful" She mused, oblivious that her choice of words set Dizzy's face on fire. The thought of raising kids with Chester had his mind supplying imaginary scenarios of him and the Girafarig exploring the region with their own child. Showing them the world they live in. It wasn't something he'd ever thought of before but he couldn't deny that it sounded appealing.

He shuffled over to stand beside Auntie, bringing his ingredients along with him. She looked over them and nodded, mumbling to herself again quietly about how to combine them into a pie. With patience and care, she began to instruct Diz on what to do, on where to put his paws to knead the dough and how to correctly prepare the ingredients he'd picked out carefully. She praised him on the combination he had picked out, claiming that it would be delicious. Diz certainly hoped so.

With her expertise and his enthusiasm for learning new things, they made a pie that Diz thought was half decent, by the end of it they were covered with flour after Dizzy had accidentally knocked the bag flying. His paws were a bit sticky and stained pink with the mushed pinkan berries they included in the filling but the smell wafting out of the oven was divine.

He watched the oven diligently, worrying that the pie would burn despite Aunties reassurances that it would be fine. When the pie was finally brought out of the oven he couldn't help his excited tail wagging, he was nervous that Chester wouldn't like it but he also knew the girafarig was too kind to turn something down even if he hated it. So he was probably safe.

He spent a few hours longer helping Auntie around the kitchen before he was sent away with his own pie in tow, excitedly bouncing his way to the girafarig twins who were waiting for him nearby.

Choice of Ingredients: Flavor - Cherry/Color - Roasted Pokebeans/Aroma - Tropic Blooms/Charm - Gracidea Flower
Bake!:
Kara, Mark, and Eric have enjoyed gathering ingredients for Auntie Appletun, but now it is time for them to decide which ingredients to include in their pie. It is a more difficult decision than they expected, especially with regards to the charm. The trio are able to choose the flavor rather easily, actually- from among the ingredients they brought back, all three agree to make a Cherry pie. They also agree quite quickly on the aroma, selecting the Tropic Blooms. A floral aroma is probably the one their trainers would like best, the trio thinks. When it comes to selecting an ingredient for the pie's color, they have a bit more difficulty. Should they use Apicot Berry or Roasted Pokebeans? Eric still thinks it would be fun to have a blue or green pie, while Kara wants to make the pie look chocolatey. Fortunately, neither of the two argue about it, they simply state their thoughts and then the trio falls silent, contemplating the decision. Ultimately, Eric decides that since the pie is meant to be shared with their trainers, they should choose the option their trainers will prefer. Thus, the Roasted Pokebeans are chosen for the pie's color.
However, the decision of which ingredient to use for the pie's charm is much more difficult even than that of which color to use. The main problem is, all three agree either one would be perfect. Gracidea Flower seems like an excellent choice since it is meant to be shared, but chocolate is... Well, chocolate. The three consider the difficult decision carefully for nearly an hour before they are able to choose. Finally, though, the trio agrees to use the Gracidea Flowers, after all they can always share the dark chocolate with their trainers separately. Now satisfied with their plan, the trio eagerly gets to work, helping Auntie Appletun prepare the ingredients for use in the pie. Making the pie crust is a team effort; with Auntie Appletun assisting each of the trio, Mark mixes the dough together excitedly (and slightly recklessly), Eric uses a rolling pin to flatten the resulting dough, and Kara carefully positions it in the pie tin. The three work together to measure the perfect amount of cherries for the pie and fill it, adding the Gracidea Flowers and Tropic Blooms as well. Finally, the Roasted Pokebeans are added, and the pie is ready to be baked! Auntie Appletun places the pie in the oven, and the trio waits eagerly for it to finish baking. Mark is practically bouncing in place while staring at the oven, as though that could somehow make the process faster. Kara is watching the oven curiously, and Eric… Eric is taking a nap. Finally, and in Mark’s opinion not a moment too soon, the pie is finished baking! Eric wakes up due to the scent of the freshly baked pie coming from the oven, and Kara helps Auntie Appletun carefully take the pie out of the oven.
Just as Auntie Appletun had said it would be, the pie is a rich, chocolatey color and smells like flowers. “Thank you so much, Auntie Appletun!” the trio says, all three looking excited about the result of their pie. They cannot wait to share it with their trainers!

[Thank you so much for hosting this activity! I had a lot of fun writing about the trio gathering ingredients and moss and baking a pie with Auntie Appletun!]

Choice of Ingredients: Flavor - Pumpkin, Color - Sattreon, Aroma - Sweet Wood, Charm - Volbeat Shimmer
Bake!:

[735 words]

Kougra ran in excitedly, swinging the door open with a full jar of Volbeat Shimmer tucked under her arm. "Auntie, Teddy, we did it! It's bake time it's bake time!!!"

Auntie walked out of the kitchen, a warm smile on her face. Her apron was covered in flour and dough. "Excellent job, dearies! Me and Teddy set up the pie crusts while you were getting that shimmer, so y'all can get right on it!"

The group ran into the kitchen excitedly, all holding some ingredients!

Image

Kougra set down the shimmer on the table carefully. "What do we do first?" She bounced on her toes excitedly, eyeing the crusts sitting on the counter. Her tummy grumbled... waiting for the pie to bake would be a challenge!

"You'll have the very important job of harvesting the pumpkin guts, dear!"

Kougra rolled her eyes. "You don't gotta patronize me, I'm 11 years old! I'm big!" she stated triumphantly. "But... I wiiiill harvest the pumpkins, since it's super important."

Auntie laughed and gestured over to the huge pumpkins on the table. Wielding a knife, Kougra hopped up onto the chair and began carving into the pumpkin excitedly! She pulled out the guts with fervor, plopping them into the big bowl she sat beside.

It was a bit hard to get Hemlock to give up her gift of sweet wood, but when she was promised she'd be able to prepare it she felt less reluctant. She carved the log with her switchblade, shaving off slivers of the log to add to the pie. Some bits were grinded up to top the pie, and some were saved to add an accent on each slice.

"I'm doneee!" squeaked Kougra, who had filled the bowl to the brim with sticky pumpkin. She held it out to Auntie excitedly.

Auntie smiled at her, pushing away the bowl. "Thank you dear, but I just need the emptied pumpkin - that's what's gonna make our filling!" She grabbed the hollow pumpkin, slicing it up into four pieces. "Once these are cooked up, they'll be ready to mash - would you wanna have that job, Kougra?"

Kougra hopped up excitedly, smiling. "Yes yes yes!!"

While they were speaking, Basil walked up, staring up at Auntie. "Could I do the honors of cooking the pumpkin, Auntie? I've got lots of experience!"

"The more hands to help, the better!" Auntie said, nodding. "Now it's time to make the pumpkin pie spice. I'll take care of that -- you little ones can have some more cider while you wait for the pumpkin."

--

Once the pumpkin was cooked and steamy, Kougra went right in with the masher and mashed it all up until it was smooth! "Mmm.. it smells so good..." She had to resist pawing glops of it into her mouth.

"It'll smell ever better once it's mixed up with the other ingredients!" Auntie exclaimed. She had Kougra crack over the eggs, and added the spice, milk and sugar in herself. The filling was thick and delicious smelling, and ready for the crust!

"Don't forget the Sattreon~" murmured Lilac, floating over with the golden powder. Yuki padded up with her to watch it be added in.

Kougra grabbed it and poured a large douse of it in, stirring fast until it dyed the entire orange filling a beautiful shimmery gold! KIt glittered in the light, not looking too gritty or uneven.

Teddy carefully poured the filling into the pie tins, making sure they don't overflow. Once the tins were filled with filling, there was just one ingredient left to add.

He picked up Kougra, who had ran to get the Volbeat Shimmer jar excitedly! He watched as she sprinkled the glowing powder over the pies, making sure she didn't add too much.

In a flash, the pies began to glow with even the lightest sprinkle, mesmerizing all who watched!

"Well, I'll be," Yuki mumbled, amazed.

"It's glowing just like the Volbeat did!" Lily exclaimed.

Auntie grinned. "That's the magic of their powder!" She grabbed the pie tins, heading over to the preheated oven. "Now all that's left to do is wait for it to bake, hoohoo."

Kougra watched excitedly as she slid the tins in and closed up the oven door. She sat and waited by the oven excitedly, licking her lips and wagging her tail - it was only a matter of time til it was done!

sweetpea and honeyshuckle sauntered into auntie’s quaint cottage with determination. this was it: baking day. their tediously-fetched ingredients would be put to delicious use. sweetpea was silently excited to expand purr baking skills; honeyshuckle was ecstatic to join along the ride.
their chatter is lighthearted and joyful. they greet auntie appletun with smiles and eyes of wonder.
“are you ready, dearies?” a chorus of confirmation erupts from the unlikely duo. “alrighty~ no time to waste!” the motherly appletun passes two small aprons to the pair, who scramble to put them on. auntie quickly gathers their unique, specially-chosen and hand-collected ingredients, setting them on a counter. she swiftly grabs stools for sweetpea and honeyshuckle to stand on, the pink feline and noodley critter too short to reach high enough. they’re officially prepared to bake.
to start, auntie cuts up some peach into thick slices; she doesn’t trust pea or honey (especially honey) enough to successfully use a knife on their own. honey and pea are put on crust duty. the fluffy, pink kitten carefully listens to and measures out auntie’s proper quantities while honey does most of the mixing, mashing, and everything in between.
the welcoming appletun places a strainer over a small jar, resting the pinkan berries in the crook of the strainer. she passes sweetpea a spoon and the conglomeration of items, who then smushes down the berries. pink juice spills into the jar. the similar-colored pokemon pours the contents into the bowl of pie crust, of which is soon-after mixed to obtain the hue of bubblegum pink. auntie momentarily takes over to gently stir in the volbeat shimmer; the crust gains a soft, radiant glow. tropic blooms are delicately torn into smaller pieces and thrown into the concoction.
honeyshuckle rolls out the pie crust and drapes it over a pie mold, carefully easing the dough into the crevices . auntie watches with pride as the two babies have overtaken her kitchen. they grow up so fast, she mentally weeps. sweetpea scrapes the peach slices into the base before mew companion rolls out the top layer of crust (of which has little hearts stamped out of it). at last, the pink feline throws open the preheated oven and honey places the pie inside.
“woooo! huzzah!” the pair cheers. auntie claps for them with warm praise. she settles down on a wooden chair in the kitchen as the youthful duo impatiently wait in the living room, glowing with pride as auntie’s cottage is bathed in the aroma of ataraxic floral notes.
the oven eventually goes off in a cacophony of beeps; the pair scrambles from their seats back to the kitchen, where auntie carefully removes the pie from the oven with gloved hands.
“you’ve done it, lovelies! it smells and looks wonderful.” auntie’s face is glowing with pride, soon creeping into sweetpea and honeyshuckle’s expressions.
“we did it!” the pair chants in blissful union.

Choice of Ingredients: Apple Flavor | Ginger Root Color | Frost Leaf Aroma | Gracidea Flower Charm
[notes for me: apple flavor; well i mean theyre apples [] ginger root; warm yellow/orange color [] frost leaf; gets rid of odors [] gracidea flower; generosity]
Bake!: [526 words]

It was now finally time for Fantasia and Mako to assemble and bake their pie. Fantasia took the reigns first; they started to slice and dice the apples.
"Have you ever even made a pie before?" Mako asked, eyeing Fantasia's unusual slicing techniques. "Oh! well, no.." they replied, "...but it doesn't hurt to start trying! I'm sure Auntie will help us as well."
Auntie Appletun smiled and nodded as she was mentioned. "Don't worry, dearies," she insisted. "Wherever you two need help, I'll be glad to lend a paw!"
"Yeah yeah, alright," Mako shrugged. Had it been an outsider watching, he would sound like he doesn't really care for baking, or pies, or pastries in general. But indeed he was very excited to see the finished pie, he generally has trouble expressing joy, though.

Next, it was time for the ginger root. "What exactly am I supposed to do with this," Mako yawned. "I ... I can't just cut it up like an apple, right?"
"You do, actually, dearie! Here, let me help." Auntie Appletun took one of the roots from the table with her maw, and grabbed the knife in one paw. She shifted the root into her other free paw and started slicing away at the root. "Like that. Now you try with the other ginger roots."
Mako attempted with the other roots. The first two were some shaky slices at first, but after a bit, he got the hang of it. Fantasia nodded excitedly in approval.

Now was time for the frost leaves. There was very little to do here with this ingredient. Fantasia shredded a few leaves with his paws and dumped them into a bowl for later use. The leaves smelled quite minty when ripping them apart from the stems. The smell would make one's nose tingle, but the scent overall was quite refreshing.

Lastly, it was time to prepare the Gracidea Flower ... well, Fantasia didn't want to, anyway.
"Do you really think we should shred up this nice flower??" they bellowed, marveling in its sparkling prettiness.
"Well, if that's what the pie recipe requires you to do, then..." Mako began to reach for the flower's petal, but Appletun stopped him.

"No, no," she said. "We don't have to pull apart the flower, dearies. The flower will go on the pie after it's finished! Usually we spread the petals around on the pie crust like parsley on pizza, but," she turned to Fantasia, "I'm sure a full flower will still do nicely."

The apples were coated in cinnamon and inserted neatly into the unbaked pie innards, the ginger roots were placed around the top of the apple slices, and the frost leaves were sprinkled around everything else. The crust of the pie was placed comfortably on top, with a crisscross designed by Fantasia's steady paws.

"It's ready to be baked now," cheered Auntie Appletun. She gently held up the pie in her hands and inserted it into oven that was preheating. Now it was a waiting game for the three, and Fantasia especially was eager to finally have a taste of the pie once it was finished. Hopefully it finishes soon ... !

Bake!:
Shifara and Neko both bounce happily up and down after having gathered all the ingredients needed for their pie. Their eyes both shine with excitement for what is to come. Even all the prep that is needed in order to start the pie is exciting. Both Pokemon sit at the counter before Auntie Appletun tells them to clean their paws. Shifara moves towards the water, but Neko begins trying to clean them with his paws. Shifara gives him a small, "Ahem." Neko looks around in confusion before it sinks in. He hops off the chair and washes his paws. Both Pokemon shudder slightly at having to get wet, but they don't want to drop anything that shouldn't be there into the pie. It might make it stranger. Once finished, they rejoin Auntie Appletun at the table.

With Auntie Appletun guiding them, the two Pokemon get to work making their pie. First, they take the pie crust Auntie Appletun has pre-prepared for them. It seems she was busy working on that task while they were each working on gathering the ingredients to fill it. Next, they prep all the ingredients. The Peaches need to be washed before hand. Then both Pokemon use their claws to quickly dice it up into smaller chunks. That's just one of the perks of having claws. The two reminisce over having their fun rap battle with the Toxicitry. They placed the peaches all along the bottom to make a nice base.

"It was so much fun!" Neko chimes in, his tail wagging back and forth in excitement. It accidentally hits Shifara in the face.
"Neko!" She exclaims in annoyance at the young Pokemon.
"Oh, Oh no! I'm sorry, Shifara," Neko replies sadly.
Shifara nuzzles his head with her own, "Just please try to contain your excitement a bit more," she said softly, keeping any scolding from her tone.

Next, the two added the Sweet Wood tucked delicately in between the peaches. It would make for a wonderful aroma when baked. Even the pre-baked aroma was enjoyable for the nose. Neko retells the tale of gathering the berries for the Spritzee in return for a bit of the wood.

"The one was sooooo high up on the cliff. But we managed to climb up and back down without falling!" Neko exclaimed happily.
"Yes, and thankfully that Beware did not notice us for that one berry either," Shifara added.

They topped the filling with the Inkay ink to make it a beautiful black color. The two looked at the Apricot berry they had also gathered for either the blue or green coloring, but decided against it.

"We played a game with the Inkay! I didn't know how to play, but Shifara told me the rules. It was fun!" Neko wagged his tail happily, but this time not as wildly as the last.

Finally, the two topped the pie with the Shimmer. Neko let Shifara retell the story of the Volbeat and their dance, only chiming in at the end with "It was so pretty!"

Their strange and beautiful creation was all put together and ready to be put into the oven! The two Pokemon were very excited to see how it would turn out! But it would take a bit of time for it to bake in the over. Shifara wished she could aid the process by adding some of her own fire, however, she knew that it could actually end up burning their pie instead. This was one of the times that you did not want to rush perfection.
