NA Snake Fact: Hopefully this one hasn't been mentioned. The Midwestern worm snake is a species that can be found in my home state, one I so hope to find in person someday. These little guys as the name implies are almost worm like appearance, they stay small and spend most of their lives burrowing in moist ground and fallen leaves hunting for the very thing they resemble and are named after!

NA Snake Fact: Water moccasins aka the cottonmouth is the only venomous water snake in North America (I hope it’s okay I used this in another fun fact comp but I only just discovered it today and am greatly intrigued by it I guess especially because where I grew up and lived until mid2024 it was THE species to be aware of when in the countryside or even at local lakes and forests which I spent plenty of time among all my life)

NA Snake Fact: The North American Western Hognose Snake (Heterodon nasicus) is famous for its dramatic bluffing behavior, when threatened, it flattens its head like a cobra, hisses loudly, and even plays dead by rolling onto its back with its tongue hanging out! Despite the show, it's completely harmless to humans.
