The Far Past…
“We should not be here,” the wind whipped and whirled as she spoke; not a hint of it dying down was present. Her companion only nodded as they stood on the sheer cliff face. Above them, a great beast circled, beating its large wings as it soared through the air.
“You know we have no choice,” he spoke in a hushed tone as he eyed the beast in the sky. She shook her head before responding, raising a hand to her temple.
“Your right, and you know your right,” she gazed at the ground before looking back at the monster. “So how are we going to do this? We can’t fight it,”
“No… we can not,”
“We could try talking to it,” he shook his head.
“We don’t even know if it can talk,” she tilted her head. “I’ve heard rumors that there are some pokemon that can not talk at all,”
“Well, how do you know that is one of them? If you have heard only rumors, then the likely hood of that being on is low,” she reasoned. She was strong in all ways, but especially in personality. A humanesqe Mr. Mime, with long navy blue hair that ended mid-thigh. He was a Mewtwo, dark and brooding, with a tail that split into two and skin covered in scars. They had known each other for ages; immortal beings tend to keep track of each other if they do not stay together, that is.
“So what's the call, Gracidea? It is yours to make,” he grumbled; on occasion, he would lovingly call her Gracie, but how was not one of those times?
“Try to talk to it,” She said, looking worried. He only nodded before floating off the ground and into the air, heading straight toward the monster.
It had started to rain; he felt the water pouring over him. At first, it was just little droplets, but then it got harder and faster. Annoying, he thought as he quickened pace towards the beast.
It was large and dark, the hybrid son of Yveltal and Darkrai, the accused beast that rose from the ground every Halloween night, only to be fought off by those brave enough to do so.
Suddenly before he even knew it, he was looking up into the bright glowing blue eyes of the beast, and it looked coldly into his purple ones.
“Hello, I am -” he was cut off as the beast lashed out at him, snapping its wide jaws, but he dodged right in time. “Well, that is not going to work, time to try the other way,” he mumbled quietly. He readied an attack, hitting the creature directly on the shoulder, the beast only flinched. A glowing aura of lightning filled its mouth; the lone Mewtwo could not dodge and was hit directly with the beam of pure blue lighting. He fell and fell and fell, passed out into the cold dark waves below. He would eventually wake on a tropical beach.
She could do nothing but watch as he fell, she was too stunned to do anything, even though it was like everything was in slow motion as he floated down, hitting the water with a large impact. She had seen it all, how the beast attacked him unprovoked. It made her impossibly mad. The beast had attacked and injured, killed, for all she knew, the man she loved. So she did the only thing she could do, attack.
She absorbed the energy around her, glowing, holding the ball of power in the palms of her hands. She unleashed it right at the monster. It hit the beast square in the chest, and it yowled, falling for the sky before catching itself, beating its giant wings. She wiped her brow; the attack had taken much out of her. But it now had Gracidea in its sights, eyeing her up and down, how could such a pokemon create such an attack? With the swiftness of ten thousand horses, it flew towards her, crashing its wing into her as she stood atop the cliff. But she hung on as the beast soared back into the sky. She was hanging from its wing gripping for dear life. The beast glanced at her on its wing flapping and soaring about in an attempt to cast her off. But she hung on with an iron will, pulling herself up ontop of the wing, crawling onto the back of the creature.
Now on its back she readyed another attack as the fusion wriggled about still trying to fling her off. She absorbed power into the palm of her hand, holding the glowing aura. She punched hitting the thing in the back. It could do nothing but plummet down, fainting. Suddenly the monster disappeared into a puff of black smoke. The day had been saved! But Gracidea was falling, thinking quickly she harded the air making an invisible platform for her to land on.
She looked down, only now noticing a town below, on the edge of the water, an expansive ocean. It was a small town, slightly run down, a fishing village. The people had gathered outside there homes now that the beast had been deafed. They looked up at Gracidea pointing and cooing. She thought to herself that every halloween that beast must appear and terroize that town, she knew now that until the beast had been defeated permanently she would be there to protect them. She bounced down landing on harden air like a staircase, until she was on the pathetic shore of the town, slimy with algae. The people looked at her with fear in their eyes, wondering what she was about to do. But she only ran her hands threw her hair, looking about for her one true love, to see if he han washed up on the beach, but he had not. She would stay in this village for a few years to come waiting for her love and protecting the people. She never really became one of them though, even though she protected them they still feared her. A pokemon like that is not something to take lightly.

The bright red flash of the portal opening up temporarily blinded Diz to what was on the other side. He tumbled out of the portal, landing on wet grass with an 'oof'. Behind him Chester, Cheddar and G1zm0 tumbled through the portal too, all of them landing as awkwardly on the ground as he had. They groaned at the clumsy landing and G1zm0 rebooted, performing a diagnostics check before deeming themselves to be fully functioning.
Diz blinked at his surroundings, his glasses were lying somewhere on the ground so his vision wasn't the best. He could really only see his own paws in front of him, the world around them was stormy, heavy rain pelting into them. The sky was dark and three moons hung high in the sky, their bright blue light was being cast along the wet grass. He stumbled up onto his feet, shaking himself to try and rid himself of the disorientating feeling portal travel still left him with.
"Sorry 'bout the rough landing" he apologized, his voice raised so he could be heard over the howling winds and torrential rain. "Still getting this thing figured out" Diz continued, rifling through his bag to make sure the tiny cube was still in there. The button was dim, not glowing as it should be. The portal machine was still charging meaning they'd be stuck here for a little while. He searched for his glasses and ended up stowing them into the bag, realizing that even if he wore them he wouldn't be able to see through them with all of this rain.
Chester and Cheddar finally made their way over, with G1zm0 on their back. The rain was probably going to damage the machine, Diz realized belatedly, he hadn't really thought about how waterproof they were. He cursed under his breath and frantically searched for shelter. Chester caught on and began to do the same.
Diz dug through his bag and pulled out one of the blankets they'd use for camping, he ushered G1zm0 into it before tying it around his own neck like a hood, that way the rotom dex could still sit in their favourite spot on his head. At least partially covered by the rain until it soaked through the slightly-waterproofed fabric. At least the camping shop they'd bought it from said it was waterproofed, he didn't know how much though.
Chester spotted a large den dug into the side of a mountain. It was undoubtedly home to a pokemon of sorts but they weren't in any place to be picky, Diz just hoped they were friendly enough to be bartered with. The group headed off towards the mountain, the rain pelted down on them, icy shards hitting their faces. They were completely soaked and Diz could feel his paws going numb, of all the places they could have travelled to did it really have to be one so miserable?
The closer they walked the bigger the hole in the mountain seemed, Diz couldn't help but feel uneasy as they approached. What kind of pokemon needed a home THIS big, an unpleasant shiver shot down his spine and he couldn't tell if it was from the freezing temperatures or the fear that whatever pokemon lived here wasn't going to be interested in sharing their house for however long his portal device took to recharge enough to (hopefully) send them back home.
They climbed up the mountain, thankfully it wasn't steep and there was even a small path carved into the rockface. The rain made the ground slick though and he found himself slipping on the rocky surface. Cheddar had leaned forwards to grip his tail a few times, his sharp teeth keeping the eevee steady. They were high up now and even looking over the edge filled him with a sense of unease and vertigo.
Eventually, they made their way to the mouth of the cave, deep inside there was a faint blue glow but Diz couldn't make it out. He pulled his glasses back out now that they were undercover and slipped them on, sliding the hood back so G1zm0 could come out if they wanted to. The rotom stayed quiet though, save for the quiet sound of their fans whirring, the only tell that they hadn't been damaged irreparably by the rain.
They stood around in the entrance, shuffling nervously and looking at each other uneasily. Ever the leader, Cheddar took charge and began marching forwards to the blue glowing light at the end of the cave. Chester tried to dig his hooves in to stop his brother but Cheddar was determined and kept going, leaving Diz to hurriedly follow behind. "What are you doing?!" he asked in a hushed yell, he had been perfectly content to just wait out the front until the cube recharged. He'd checked it when he was retrieving his glasses but the light was still out.
As they got deeper into the cave they couldn't help but notice a deep growl, it sounded like something big in there was snoring. As they approached Diz froze and the girafarig twins did too a few steps in front of him. There was a giant pokemon fast asleep in here, one of its eyes cracked open but not seeing, it emitted a blue glow. Diz stared at the twins with wide eyes and they looked just as worried as he was, he could feel G1zm0's wires digging into him, an anxious habit of theirs.
"What's that thing?" Diz whispered quietly, taking careful steps backwards and motioning for the twins to do the same. He heard the telltale sign of G1zm0's scanner buzzing to life and waited with bated breath.
"The pokemon appears to be a fusion between Darkrai and Yveltal," G1zm0's robotic voice said quietly, close to his ears.
Dizzy's blood ran cold and he quickened his steps backwards, that didn't sound good. Neither pokemon had a good reputation from the stories he'd heard as a child, and combined together? He could only imagine the destruction. Unfortunately, he had been walking too fast and without as much care, so it was only a matter of time before he messed up somewhere.
He stepped backwards and tripped over a rock that he'd walked around on the way up, he fell onto the ground with a surprised yelp and G1zm0 tumbled out of their makeshift seat with an equally as loud cry of surprise. Further down they could hear the snoring abruptly stop and Diz stayed on the floor, frozen with fear.
A loud cry from the monster spurred him into action, the growl rattled his bones and sent his adrenaline into overdrive. Chester and Cheddar rushed over to help them both up and soon they were all on their feet, running from the very angry fusion. The pokemon was crashing through the cave now, wings spreading out and hitting the walls. The whole mountain felt like it was shaking and they feared the den would collapse. This thing was PISSED.
It roared and snapped its teeth, just barely missing Dizzy's tail. He yelped and tried to speed up, swishing his tail to send a flurry of stars at the fusion to hopefully stun it for just a moment. As they ran he instructed G1zm0 to get the portal machine out of his bag, their long cord arm pulled it out as they hung onto Diz's head with the other. The machine was beginning to glow, almost there just a few more seconds.
"Hit the button as soon as it's ready, okay?" He yelled back to the rotom and they made a noise of affirmation, holding the machine steady.
They were almost at the mouth of the cave again, Diz just had to hope the machine was ready in time. They burst out into the rain again and wobbled at the edge of the mountain, the fusion was clawing its way out and approaching them, blue eyes glowing with fury from being awoken by its slumber. This thing was going to be haunting Diz's nightmares for SURE tonight.
It was at that moment that G1zm0 made a loud beep of excitement and smashed the button with urgency, the red portal opened up behind them just over the edge of the cliff and they jumped through, blindly trusting the machine to take them home. As it closed behind them thy could still hear the fusion roaring in pure rage.
