fact: There's one animal known to be able to survive in space.
In 2007, thousands of tardigrades were attached to a satellite and blasted into space. After the satellite had returned to Earth, scientists examined them and found that many of them had survived. Some of the females had even laid eggs in space, and the newly-hatched young were healthy.

They can withstand huge amounts of radiation, being heated to 150 °C, and being frozen almost to absolute zero.

They're micro-animals, very, very small lil things
They have a nickname, water bears :)

fact: Grizzly bears used to be kept as pets by the vikings! They were taken when they were young and raised by the familys and were called "House Bears" much like we do with dogs and cats now a days!

fact: A bird called the common cuckoo uses a sneaky strategy to raise its babies. First, a female cuckoo finds a nest built by another bird of a different species. Then, she sneaks into the nest, lays an egg and flies away. The warblers often accept the new egg. Indeed, they take care of it along with their own eggs.

The cuckoo chick hatches before the other chicks. And it wants all the food from it's "foster" parents for itself. So the young cuckoo pushes the warbler eggs onto its back, one by one. It braces its feet on the sides of the nest and rolls each egg over the edge. Smash!

fact:

Did you know that the earliest ancestors to whales were deer?
Indohyus was a tiny ungulate, about the size of a large cat. They're our earliest known ancestor to whales as we know them. Indohyus were semi-aquatic and lived during the Eocene era, so about 50 million years ago.

The leading theory is that after a mass extinction event, food on the mainland became scarce, and they began venturing underwater as a means of finding the food that other animals couldn't reach, or using the water as cover to hide from predators. (Like another species of small deer we have alive today, the mouse-deer).
Over time, the little guys were like "Hey actually, going underwater to eat is way easier than competing with everything else, we're staying here!" and began spending more time in water than on land. Their bone structures and bodies began changing to support this new lifestyle choice, and they became more whale-like. They lost their hooves for flippers, and began getting larger to support a more carnivorous diet.

Georgiacetus, one of the last whales to live on land, and the "true" link between land whales and sea whales.

Over time, whether it was because of their massive bodies not being able to survive on land, or their feet becoming too flipper-like and not being able to waddle properly, they lost access to land and became what we know them today.
So yeah, in short, whales are one of the only families of animals that started in the water, adapted to life on land, and then decided "nope" and went back to the water. I love them
