Prompt: first snow

I checked my phone for the exact time that the snow would descend upon my little town.
7:00 am. I set an alarm for 6:35 and told Ma I was going up to bed. I needed to get a good nights sleep if I wanted to be up and at 'em before the first snow fell!

My alarm twinkled at me and I slammed the off button. Scratching at an itch on my snout, only half awake, I pulled the covers back up over my head. It was so cold! Why had I set an alarm
so early? And on a weekend, no less? Aargh. Maybe if I checked my phone I'd remember?
Pushing the covers to the bottom of my bed, I shivered and shoved on my dressing gown as I sat upright on the side of the bed. I picked up my phone, accidentally pulling the charging plug from its socket as I did, and checked the time. 6:40? Why 6:40? Opening the weather app, I saw the forecast for snow and everything came flooding back. I leapt out of bed and rushed to my wardrobe, pulling it open and slamming the door against the wall with a crash. I froze, and listened for any sound coming from my parents bedroom, just across the hallway. After about a minute with nothing, I sprang back into action, more carefully this time though.

Bustling into the living room, I checked the time.
6:57. Perfect! I opened the door slowly, making sure not to trigger its creak, and slipped outside into the cold front yard. I looked to the sky, but could only see grey cloudy skies tinged with blue and orange from the sun on the horizon. No white flurries just yet, it seemed. I waited for ten minutes with no snow. Another ten and I was almost ready to go back inside. Five minutes later, I was shivering and decided that the snow wasn't going to be coming today. Disappointed, I turned around and dragged my feet as I walked back to my house. Pulling the door open, I felt something cold on my nose. I shook my head, and walked back into the house. I plonked down on the couch and stared wistfully out the window...
The gray, snow-less sky stared back at me. I continued looking out the window, unfocused into the distance. White dots floated past my eyes, and I shook my head again and decided I better go back to bed. Refocusing my eyes, I shook my head another time, because the white dots were still there. It couldn't be.. had the snow decided to come, finally? I leapt off the couch and flung the door open, racing outside before skidding to a halt at the road. I tipped my head up at the sky, because yes, the snow had arrived!!

I stifled a screech of joy, before rushing back inside and stomping down the corridor. Bursting into my parents bedroom, I yelled, "WAKE UP! THE SNOW IS HERE!" then jumped on their bed, and bounced up and down. They woke up with a start. Ma, alarmed, sat up and looked around frantically before looking at me and falling back on her pillow. "Really, Ari? Could you not have let us sleep in?" Stifling a yawn, I pawed at the blanket covering them, trying to convince them to get up. "But the snow is here! You need to come outside now!" I couldn't hold myself back from playing any longer. Spinning around and jumping off the bed, I ran out the door. "See you outside!"
