"Did you just..." Lee trailed off, "High five me?"
"Wasn’t that a high five you were offering?" the colorful kalon asked, completely confused.
Lee smiled and shook his head. "Nope. I was waving."
"Oh!" the colorful kalon blushed a little. "Whoops!"
"No worries!" Lee thought for a moment. "Hey, if you’re... uh... so into high fives, maybe we should come up with a secret handshake. And by the way, I’m Lee. Sometimes I like to be called Lily, though, so I’ll let you know."
The kalon brightened. "That sounds like a great idea! And I’m Indra."
For the next hour, the kalons collaborated, coming up with a routine with fist bumps, spins, and even a couple of explosions.
The two kalons wore permanent grins. "I think that was the most ridiculous thing I’ve let myself do in years!" Lee laughed, out of breath and red in the face.
Suddenly, a bell rang out through the camp.
"Well I guess that’s our cue!" Indra grabbed Lee’s hand, and skipped off to their afternoon activity. Lee looked surprised for a moment, but then shrugged and skipped alongside Indra.
Finally, someone had cracked Lee’s shell. Who knew he had this side to him?

(Note: Lee is genderfluid, though his name is registered at role call as Lily. I decided to go with he/him pronouns for this story, though.)

"Ugh I need a rest" Alyria spoke softly as she rubbed her eyes to soothe them from the blaring sun. She lay on a nearby log close to a pond. Just as her eyes were about to close, a blurry figure aswell as a very faint sound caught her attention.

Her eyes shot open to see a kamper she has never seen before? Still being confused and a little tired, she raised her hand up for an attempt at a wave. Suddenly the other kalon's face brightens up and all Ayria can remember is being tackled into the pond as the other kalon gives her a,,, high five ??

Out of no-where Alyria bursts out in a fit of laughter and the other kalon is left looking confused-as-ever as she stares at the amused girl. "That-- was supposed to be a wave" She giggles out, mid way trying to catch her breath. The brightly colored kalon lowers herself in the water so only her eyes are showing in an attempt to hide her blush.

"Don't be embarrassed, It's totally fine." she says, moving her own wet hair away from her face. "I'm Alyria, by the way!" She says, sticking out a hand, silently hoping the other kalon isn't gonna high-five it this time. "I'm.. Cass.. Short for Cassiopeia" she says, tentatively shaking Aly's paw. Alyria's face noticeably brightens up at her words "Cassiopeia? Like the constellation?". Cass seems surprised, "Yea, you like space too?" Only noticing how happily she said it afterwards, once again trying to hide her blush. "Oh my goodness, you have no idea. Although.. We should probably get out of the water before anything else" She giggles, extending a hand for the other kalon as they both get out of the pond and head back to camp.

as soon as aspen saw that hand coming towards her, she panicked. instead of doing something like high fiving this kalon back, she went into a t-pose. why? of all things that came to her mind, that's what it was. she could've easily just high fived this guy back. but nope! it had to be that.

there was a brief moment of silence before the bright colored kalon said, "did you just t-pose instead of high fiving me?"

aspen nodded sheepishly. the kalon started laughing. once he got control of himself, he said, "you know what? i think we're gonna be friends. i'm quill! and you are?"

"aspen. my name's aspen," aspen said quietly.

"great!" quill exclaimed. he started to ramble about things as aspen stopped paying attention. she let out a loud sigh. this would be a long trip.

Ferris glanced back when he heard the rustling, his usual flat attitude toward the outside world. that is until he saw her. his snout scrunched up like he had tasted something sower, lost in her eyes the minute he saw her. he felt like his head had fallen off, he didn't understand why he felt so weird. who was this kalon, why was she so pretty? oh, my god, she touched me. his mind froze up when she high-fived him, he let out a small eep sound and glanced down at his paw.

this new kalon giggled at him "hi, im magie."
"hai..." the stunned, flustered little ferris spoke, it must have been his first-time sense he got to kamp.
she smiled at him, a pretty little smile "im a bit lost, could I hang out with you?"
"y...yes" he stumbled over his words, clearing his throat before repeating himself in a clearer, deeper voice.
"great! im so glad I met a friend!" she wrapped her arms around his neck for a moment before bouncing back a step "what should we do first?"
he didn't get a word in, though he didn't mind.
"come on we should try the canoe!" she grabbed his paw and pulled him toward the lake.
Ferris smiled, stumbling at first but now finding himself running after her. her energy was positively infectious. he realized happily they even wore the same jersey from the kamp. he was surprised by how delighted he was thinking about seeing her more often around kamp.

the high five experience: She commonly reacts with a cold glare or tight grip of the paw. The high five is not her favorite, nor one she takes kindly to. Scared kalon kits have made a warning about Sin and her antics. If you happen to catch her, all Sin does is a strange stare, as she is in a trance. The simple explanation is how Sin has a lot of issues with trusting others, and likes to be alone. So much as to have an insanely difficult time hanging out with other kalons, or even socializing.

peony took a stop by a nearby river when she spotted something in a bush, and to her surprise, it was another kalon. peony's eyes met with emmet, and there was a long, awkward silence.

peony then decided it was about time to do something, and taking a deep breath, her paws quivering and senses blurred, put up one of her paws for a small awkward wave. however, emmet obviously mistook the situation, and high-fived the obviously much smaller kalon, underestimating how hard they swung, which ended up sending them both tumbling backward into the river behind peony. the two were soaked, and staring at each other. emmet laughed, followed by peony's laughter. they crawled out of the river, and emmet walked her back to camp to dry up again, talking the whole way back. looks like they both made an unexpected friend today!

Dover tensed up as an unfamiliar Kalon bolted toward him at a horrific speed, a broad grin on his face and a hand raising as he drew closer and closer. Dover really couldn't think of a time of any other kalon acting so happy to see him. Did they know each other? Hesitantly, Dover, too, raised his hand, expecting it to turn into some sort of awkward hand wave. Instead, the other kalon lunged, and in an instant, his paw slammed against Dover's. That was this kalon's greeting; the ultimate high five. The leverage of it was perfect, and the contact wasn't too hard, but not too soft, either. Dover could only stand there with his jaw slack in complete awe. The other kalon whipped around to face him, looking satisfied with himself.

"How's it going, pal? The name's Newton, and they call me the High Five God. You, my bro, have been lucky enough to receive the legendary High Five of Friendship!" He declared, placing his paws on his hips and puffing his chest out with pride. Dover couldn't help as a small laugh slipped past his lips, unsure of whether or not this Kalon took his title seriously. Apparently not, because this "Newton" fellow laughed as well. It was clear he was a lighthearted kind of person, and that's precisely the type of person he wants to be friends with. It indeed lived up to its majestic title of "High Five of Friendship."
