why do they cry? Mylo has never let anyone see him cry. He's strong, in the eyes of others. But is Mylo truly happy? The daily routine getting up, getting stationed, maybe not sleep for a few days, and suffering. No. He can't stand it, hates war. Wants it to end.
But after the war, is he finally happy? No. And he doesn't know why.
Mylo tried to distract himself with anything he could but nothing worked. Eventually he had to face his fears. Which then, made him cry. Standing in the face of evil, who will win? Mylo or darkness?
The truth is, we'll never know. As Mylo woke up the next morning, just 9 years old, shaking from this nightmare.

why do they cry? he thinks it's stupid that he cries over this, but he has a balloon. the balloon's name is gerald. the balloon's like his pet, since his parents won't let him get a dog. over time, it's been shrinking, and a few minutes ago, he found it popped. he really does think he's stupid now. crying over a balloon. it's been sitting on his bedroom dresser for a year, it was bound to happen. "you're okay," he tells himself, his breathing shallow as he gasps for air. "'s just a balloon. you're fine," he mutters, nuzzling the remains of 'gerald'.

why do they cry? [197/200]
From the day Bakari's father was diagnosed, he never cried once. The good news was they caught
the lung cancer early. Throughout his struggle, Bakari did his best to care for his father, whom he
rarely got along with at the best of times. Due to an absence of living family, he was left virtually
on his own. Even though he and his father were estranged, he was truly the only family Bakari had
left. The sheer mortality of the situation shocked that realization into being as time dragged on.
But through it all, he will never forget the day the doctor finally announced, after over a year of
fighting, the cancer was in remission.
First, Bakari felt weak, as if he would fall if he did not sit down. He forced himself to walk to his
car and sit alone to process the sea of emotions that now crashed over him in waves. It was like
the world was lifted from his shoulders as hot tears began to slide down his cheeks. A years worth
of turmoil concentrated into the droplets he finally allowed to flow freely. He couldn't remember
a time he felt so overjoyed.

why do they cry? There's an unspeakable amount of misfortune that plagues the world, be it tragedy, betrayal, or death; for every downfall there's grief. Grief over what could have been, what's been lost, what's been done wrong. Most times it's subtle, a brief crestfallen atmosphere that's swept away as quickly at it set in. But, these feelings are the result of a mistake, and mistakes, they won't do.
Katsumi strives for perfection— It's been hammered into his mind since birth that he must excel, that every failure is proof he's broken and terrible and flawed beyond repair. Every slip up seen makes the boy hitch his breath, his eyes sting, and he has to choke down the urge to yell at himself for crying in front of others because that just compounds onto the other inadequacies. Most times, bottling these feelings defuses the impending disaster. But without treatment, wounds fester, as do those sickened humors, grievances and guilts, and inevitably they broil up and hot tears run down his face. Katsumi hates these emotions, for they deny him from the idealized existence pressed upon him by his family and peers; to live is to be flawed, but that's a truth he cannot accept.

why do they cry? It was nice to have people who cared about her, Rowena supposed. But not to crowd around her, overwhelm her, ask her so many questions that she just couldn't see straight. She flinched as more and more unfamiliar people touched her, stared at her, pitied her. At this point, it was unclear why she had been crying in the first place. She just wanted them to stop, but each time she choked out a word, the people would hush her and murmur what were supposed to be comforting words. Squirming made them gather closer, and closing her eyes didn't make them go away. It seemed they were here forever, and here they were to stay.

why do they cry? florence cries most often over her dreams that she can never seem to remember. not once has she had recollection of any unconscious brain activity - or even anything like deja vu. she can always see them so vividly when asleep and always desperately tries to grasp at anything to remember from the wonderland that is a temporary escape from reality, but never to any avail. she has amassed a collection of dreamcatchers and even wears a few feathers from her few favorite ones tucked behind her ears - although it's more wishful thinking than fact that this could ever work for her problem. florence even tries small, daily activities that are said to increase spirituality and the more imaginative side of the mind, but even those never seem to work. the poor girl just wants something she can lose herself in when life gets to be a bit too much. why do they cry?
sorrow is a curious thing.
it is an emotion born from the most terrible of misfortunes, experiences and pains. it is something we are taught to avoid, never to dwell on, and are always eager to escape.
however, when it becomes inevitable and inescapable, and we allow ourselves to stop running and experience the full crushing weight of sorrow, the effects are varied.
of course we are sad, but with the sadness comes a strange sense of closure, catharsis. a 'cry because it's over, smile because it happened' sort of feeling.
(cliches are 'corny' because they are true, and it is far better to make fun of them than acknowledge the deep truths about us they reveal.)
and while this catharsis is helpful in most cases in letting us move past our sorrow, for some it is dangerous.
addictive.
the sadness becomes their only source of solace, and isn't it better then to maintain it?
so why does this galvani cry?
she has forgotten how to stop.
