Rex flipped through the magazine, determined to help somebody for Christmas. He always loved helping others through the Heifer organization, and this year he had saved up a lot in order to help as many as he could. But, would a dozen chickens and rabbits be better than a lone cow? He looked out the window from inside his tiny cottage, gazing at the flock of chickens pecking at the soft grass.
Cows would be good, but they certainly didn't reproduce as fast, nor was milk everyday instead of meat good. Chickens it would be, he decided, after thinking it over. Getting out his checkbook, Rex went over to the mahogany desk, and began to fill out as many orders as he could.

"Hey Rex! How are you?" Maris smiled at him, throwing one of the heavy sacks of flour over her shoulder. "Just fine! Here, let me help you." He took the flour from her after some pestering (she didn't want to force him), and went into the back of the shop with her.
"Anything new Mar?" She smiled tiredly at him, turning on the oven while showing him where to put the flour down.
"No, no. Same old, same old."
"Well, do you want to go on a date with me?"
