Dreams? Nothing new-- they fester like open wounds, breed in places where they shouldn't, plant in the heads of children that they can't or cannot. Dreams would be nothing but an ostentatious example of greediness, bursting from the hearts of the young and caving inward the rib-cages of the old; for what would he find in dreams but sorrow soaked simplicity? They are nothing but a blind fool-- too foolish, even, to be categorized under such a title; it would be an insult to the foolish for Valoel to be considered. They would implant themselves into the dreams of others, akin to a leech, but those who learn of Valoel would soon understand that a leech would held a greater capacity of caring thought; Valoel does not care, he craves, he yearns to hold something between his hands, to latch on with teeth and nail until it becomes his, and when he finds he cares not for the goals of another, he'll toss it aside damaged and bleeding, no apology to fall from his lips.

His dreams be not his own, for he thinks that he can not dream; would see it a weakness to have a fraction of falsified hope, would not even attempt to condemn himself to a internalized collapse.

Their Dreams - Seton's dreams start to blur away soon after he wakes,
which is why he paints them. In his sleep, he saw proud lilies standing
tall along a country lane. His feet hovered above the packed dirt as he
moved with the ethereal grace of the dreaming. This road lead somewhere
wondrous, he was convinced, a place of golden sunlight where he would
be surrounded by everything he has ever longed for.

On his simple canvas, he dabs on the last ivory-white petals of the
lilies. Seton's paintbrush hangs still while he struggles to remember
the rest of the scene. What came after the guiding lines of the flowers
and the soft tawny soil? The fuzzy outline of a hill returns to his memory,
the springy green of the grass growing ever brighter in his mind.

His style is soft, cottony, more impressionist than realistic. Seton prefers
ideals to actualities, and so do his dreams, it seems. He's climbed this hill
many times in his sleep, each time to find something different visible
from the peak. Last night it was the sea, extending for cerulean miles
with only the hazy horizon to mark its end.

He does not lift his head to look at his actual surroundings. The small
inland town is as confining as ever, which is why Seton's little home
is filled with the painted landscapes of his dreams. His mind wants to
see lush jungles filled with snapping vines and vibrant tangerine
birds of paradise, crowded cities brimming with busy chattering
citizens running across streets like salmon rushing upstream, wide
striped meadows with rows of budding tulips, or absolutely anything
except the all-too-familiar nooks and crevices of a town he has
memorized.

Sleeping is his favorite pastime, after painting, because they are
the only two ways he can see something new. Seton dreams of leaving
home, in more ways than one.
