story: The woods flashed as she ran, confusion as the woods kept going, and going. There was no end. Fire raced along the ground, then there was nothing but darkness. Arashi woke in the comforts of her home, still confused of this dream.

|| Softea || Nicholas 'The Lost' Davidson ||
Running, faster and faster.
...
Where am I?
...
Remember, in and out, in and out.
...
...
The eyes followed him, waning his balance, his precision and his eyesight. Everything was blurry. Though he continued to walk forward, tripping over his feet several time. The eyes persisted, making him walk deeper and deeper into the lost forest, somewhere, where no Kalon, has ever returned. Nicholas tried to focus, to see where he was going, but his vision continued to falter with each step he took, making him feel weaker, almost like he couldn't walk.
His vision cleared minutes, maybe hours later, he couldn't really tell how long he was walking since he couldn't see, but when his vision did clear, and he got control of his balance, he saw something he didn't want to believe. There were millions of eyes staring at him, blinking in unison, almost seeming to light up the pathway, the one, and only pathway Nicholas had saw. He took a step forward and watched the eyes follow him. He shook his head and ignored it continuing on his path, breathing heavily from the humid air. He must have been near somewhere with the ocean, as he though indicated why the air was humid, but at the same time there was snow falling to the ground just up ahead, seemingly broken off at one point, a straight line through the forest of snow. He kicked the snow when he got close enough and it only fell towards the other side, not the side he was standing on. Nicholas stepped into the snow and instantly felt the humid air disappear, making him shiver. Though he saw a light up ahead and walked towards it, starting to hear voices as well as seeing shapes form. "H-Hello?" Nicholas called, shivering. No response. "Helloooo-?" this time he yelled, still continuing to walk towards the light source. Nicholas then saw the shape of long bat-like ears, hair clean and shiny, golden eyes, seeming to glow in the light, though the Kalon was not smiling, but rather grimacing. "Um- Hi, I'm Nicholas do you know wher-"
"Shush it boy!" the voice called in a menacing voice "Don't let them hear you." Nicholas quirked his head, then looked left, right and behind him. "What are you talking about sir? There's no one there. And, just a quick question. Who are you?" a pause, when the other lean, taller Kalon responded with, "Ares. Ares Achilles. And I'm probably not much older than you, you don't have to address me with sir." Ares huffed out. Nicholas blinked, quirking his head to the side once again, "Didn't you just say to not talk so they don't hear us?" Ares seemed startled "Ah-" *ahem* "Right, eh- shhhhh. I'll tell you why later, follow me." Ares started walking down the pathway towards the unforeseen forest ahead, he didn't make a sound as he walked, which made Nicholas shiver. "Hey- Pssst- Hey." Nicholas whispered to the other Kalon, "Where are we anyway?" he saw Ares look down, then up, and then spin around. "I'm not quite sure. Where do you think we are?" Ares then stopped walking and stared blankly at Nicholas, "Eh- Some forest, somewhere?" Ares nodded slowly with his eyes closed, almost seeming to take notes in his mind. "Whatever you think." Nicholas cocked his head at this and quirked an eyebrow, "What do you mean 'whatever I think'?" Ares continued walking, but answered "Anywhere is home if you think about it, isn't that right Nicholas?" Nicholas paused and stopped walking, "Home is where the heart is? Is that what you mean?" Ares smiled at this "Yes that is correct!" Ares now stopped walking and turned to look at Nicholas, "This is your home Nicholas. Didn't you know? 'Home is where the heart is' your heart belongs to the trees and the forest. This is your home. You'll take my place as keeper of the forest." Nicholas blinked, and then looked around, smiling "How could I forget? I belong to the forest. The eyes are the eyes that follow those who live here to keep them safe.
...
...
Home is where your heart remains, the heart remains in your sanctuary, your quiet place.
Nicholas, now the keeper of the forest, remains there to this very day, making sure people are safe and sound and travel through without getting lost.

kalon name:Retina
story:Once retina was looking for something that he had lost while camping that was very important to him. Retina, unlike usual, on that trip hardly had been paying attention to where they were going. Eventually, after hours of searching, he found the campsite. He grabbed what he had forgotten, a little scarf, put it on and then headed out. Searched and searched but for some reason he couldn't find the campsite or the way out again. He had been seeing the same bramble bush for the past few times. The only way he he hadn't gone was through it. Desperate, he carefully navigated it, ripping his scarf off in the process. That happened to be the way out. He got home without the scarf but quite a few more scratches.

she could hear the sound of music from deep inside the woods. with each step, a memory began to fade away. her mother. her father. her brother, too — vanishing from her mind like the sun underneath the horizon. she drops the basket she'd been carrying, the berries held inside scattering on the forest floor. her eyes are locked on the path ahead, no longer focused nor aware of their surroundings.
the music grows louder. it's like the faint melody of a music box, gears turning against its metal frame. something about it is so familiar it makes her heart ache — but in time, that memory, too, fades.
around her, eyes emerge from the darkness. one pair. two pairs. three. she walks deeper into the forest. four pairs. five. each step summoning more until she's surrounded by myriad eyes, following her automatonic march.
her legs bring her to a meadow bathed in moonlight. flowers glow white around her, breaking into full bloom. from the shadows, one eyed figure breaks forth from the darkness, its ghostly form approaching her in her amnesiac daze. she's under a spell. with her mind blank, her body follows only the command of the melody reverberating through the air.
the ghost takes her hand, its own translucent against her skin.
"i know you don't remember me anymore," comes its voice.
"i know that you can't, even if you wanted to. i know that this is the only way i can give this back to you. so... thank you for the memories. i'll keep them safe for you."
the ghost's hands fall away and the melody stops. the girl collapses among the bed of flowers, fast asleep. when she wakes up in the morning, she's back at her cottage home, in her bed.
clasped in her hands is the key to a music box.
