Other kalons are fine...if he wants to die of boredom. Let's just say Percy isn't the most patient kalon...or maybe even patient at all. Others are fine and all, but he prefers to live in his own head, instead, chasing visions of himself around, and playing hide and seek with himself. Adventurous, yet egotistical, Percy isn't too great with others, for obvious reasons. Mostly because he can't hold a conversation because his mind is elsewhere.

the meaning of eden's name is the opposite of how she acts. eden's a loner at heart, portrayed as anything but delightful. being introverted and withdraw, most are wary of the dark-pelted kalon, always wearing the same stone-faced expression, and often avoid her. she's secretly sensitive and takes this as dislike towards her and passive-aggressive eden's only way to deal with this is copying them. them being the others, those who stare, those who whisper petty insults as quiet eden passes. if they choose to judge her on first impressions, then she'll do the same to them. her's is probably not the best philosophy to have, but, again, she has grown numb to unrealistic standards and expectations created by them. she has physically, emotionally and mentally distanced herself from them.

you could say that eden has grown tired other kalons, tired of being judged for trying to be herself. she decided to do away with trying to meet the standards of others and instead focused on who she wanted herself to become. eden truly doesn't want to be the version of herself that's considered normal to them and, truthfully, she isn't sure if that version exists anymore.

"Well, we can't generalize here!" He huffed. The thought let him hold it in the air for a moment. "It truly depends, but I guess I'm fond of my own species!" Another pause. "From a survival standpoint, we're well rounded. Though, our shines are a bit of a disadvantage. Some shimmer so bright they can be seen a mile away. We've spread out quite far, which isn't good at all. I'm sure we classify as an invasive species, like humans." He considered wheather continuing his answer would have a positive outcome.
"Overall, I'd say Kalons are ok. We're sociable mammals, sometimes with governments and religions. We're organized as a whole, we have family structures, the arts, mathematics, general sciences, and I'd even say more equality than your average human city! It's a bold statement, but a good one. I'm happy with who I am and what I am, as everyone should be. We strive to be who we are, and the amount of work people put into being themselves is enough as is." He opened his mouth, as if there was more to add, but he stopped himself. Looking down at his feet, he smiled, relieved from the loaded question.

"They're all the same.

At least, at first. Each being is like a story, a novel. At the beginning, they all seem the same. There's a problem, a character, a solution; but when you look further, there's more. There's always more. Details, details, that's what makes a story unique. That's what makes each being unique.

I don't understand why people ask about politics, religion, or such. That's not what matters to me. What matters to me is how they prefer their sandwiches, what they see when they look at the stars, what they first think of when they hear the word "aspiration."

Each Kalon to me is different, in the smallest of ways that make the biggest of differences.

what do they think about other kalons? Ward enjoys the company of a few select kalons, but prefers to keep his distance. He is always extremely happy when a new kalon approaches him and makes an effort to talk to him. He thinks very highly of his friends and acquaintances.


Ward made his first friend a couple of years ago. The other kalon had accidentally knocked into Ward and stopped to help him up. Ward was touched by the stranger's kind action and offered to buy him a coffee one day. The kalon took him up on the offer the next day and the coffee quickly became a regular occurrence.

what do they think about other kalons?
Essentially, Japari could make things easy and say that he hates other Kalons - except that'd be too edgy, too predictable, too much of early 2015 Tumblr culture. He could hide under a hoodie and growl at others, he could keep his earbuds in all day. All of these were entirely possible outcomes for Japari. But in all honesty, he wants to learn about Kalons. He wants to see why Kalons laugh, why they cry, why they sing, smile, dance - and why they learn to be close to one another. The concept of a Kalon was enough already - he was one, Japari the Kalon - but to be Japari the Kalon, plus one more Kalon - dare he say a "friend"? - that was wild even to imagine.

For now, he'd be content with the sound of the kettle whistling in the morning - maybe one day it would be replaced with someone whistling. He'd trudge outside to fetch the news, but perhaps he'd hear stories from a voice instead of ink on paper sooner or later.

"...They're certainly very fascinating. Not even I can figure out myself - but I want to be able to figure out you, my friend."

Theo blinks, seeming to take in the question. He rolls the words over his tongue, thinking about each one, formulating his answer.
He couldn't mess up.

"I find them... enthralling in many senses. The majority are rather fascinating in character, with their little quirks and such, with the personality traits that set them apart. Physically they're interesting, as well, with the way they dress and present themselves, but that isn't nearly as fun to study." He pauses, fiddling with his fingers, his hair. He seems calm, perhaps with a touch of underlying nervousness, maybe with what he's about to say.

"Mostly, though, other Kalons confuse me. I can relate to others on some things but," Theo released a small breath of air, a sigh. His brow furrows. "Sometimes I don't know why they do certain things to others. Be mean, in particular, and for such petty reasons!"

He looked up, eyes wide with a rush of emotion, of empathy, of understanding. "I don't get it."

“What do I think of other kalons…? Heh, well…” Viel let out an awkward chuckle, rubbing the back of their head shyly. “I think other kalons are pretty great. Really, I do! I’m just a bit shy, that’s all. I guess it comes off a bit standoffish, but… I don’t quite think I’m as great as everyone else. That’s kinda why I stay away, you know? I don’t want to bother them with my inadequacy. I mean, just look at what others can do! There’s so many great artists and singers and scientists and… and, well, you get the point.” They sigh a bit, looking down at their paws. “I’m just me. I haven’t figured out my calling yet. So I guess I just feel like everyone else is a step ahead. I mean, wouldn’t you feel the same?” They take a deep breath, looking up again. “Anyways. Not to give you a sob story or whatever. I just think sometimes my shyness comes off as snobbiness. And that’s not true at all! I think, if I were to have anything I wanted… I’d just like to fit in. I just want to have my life together like everyone else.” (200/200)
