A young woman carefully tread through the store of her flower
shop, observing each and every plant that she cared for. They
were all as lovely as she was. Alice believed that beauty was
a currency and she had plenty to spare. Her eyes drifted up
from their task, a small smile on her face as she realized you
were watching.
xxxx"Welcome to Mum's Garden!" She bowed deeply to you. Her
eyes glimmered with something, call it interest. She returned
to her plants and smiled even more, brushing her fingers over
the petals of the plant. "There must be something I can help
you find, what are you looking for today?" She asked, looking
to you. You were about to open your mouth to speak before
she raised a hand and silenced you. "An anniversary." She
looked down at the plants in front of her once again, Sighing
contently. "Leave it to me." She looked at all the plants, her
hands carefully moving to pluck some daisies, carefully
gathering them in her left hand while the right worked silently,
collecting all types of flowers.
xxxx"Daises, for innocence and purity. Amaryllis for worth beyond
beauty. White Lilac for humility and finally a white Carnation
for pure love." She looked to you, a magnificent bouquet in her
hands. Her hands words quickly to tie them together around the
stems to hold them together.
xxxxShe carefully handed over the bouquet a slight smile on her face
as she did so. It was a beautiful thing to see two people in love.
As they left her eyes lowered and she finally closed the shop for
the night. She returned to the back room, a second home, she
got down on her knees and began to weep.
xxxxShe was uncertain if she would ever see her love again. Did love
exist for someone like her? She leaned her head back and wailed yet
again, tears streaming down her face. Her heart ached with
every fiber of it's being, trying to rip itself from her chest. She
was envious of the love they showed in their eyes when ordering
the flowers. As if love had no price; love had no end. Her heart
ached and screamed otherwise, knowing she was left behind.
xxxxShe looked to the picture frame that sat on her desk, instinctively
grabbing it to hold it to her chest and sob. The only person who loved
her had left her all alone. "Dad!!" She let loose a cry from her heart,
weeping against the photo frame. Scrawled in messy handwriting on
the back was 12 words, that seemed to soothe the hurt every time it
returned.
xxxx"I love you too Dad."
