constellation story (1000 word limit);;When the gods created the earth and the inhabitants of it, there were some creatures made who were not so friendly and happy. The monsters of the earth were imprisoned in the sea, far from mortals and unable to hurt them. But eventually the mortals developed, they built ships and traversed the sea, but of course, were attacked by the monsters within the water. So the gods assigned a guard to keep the monsters away from the humans.
There was a young nymph, an elemental of the water, named Chrysia, charged with keeping the magical creatures of the sea away from the surface, away from the humans and mortals so they could not injure or frighten them. Every day as she patrolled the waters of the beautiful sea, not swimming under the water, just hovering over it, she would look down at the beautiful glowing white dots rippling in the water, they were so beautiful but she was not allowed under water, it was not a place for anything but monsters to be in and she would lose her powers and become a monster herself.
So every day she would stop and stare at the beautiful glowing dots in the water. One day in particular, the water surface broke, this had not happened to Chrysia before and she was terrified when a serpent rose it's head from the water. The serpent spoke in a raspy, unpracticed voice and said to the nymph "you, you are one of the star people?"
Chrysia was shocked to hear words exit the serpent's scaly lips and replied in confusion,
"no... I have never heard of the star people?"
Now it was the serpent who was surprised. He craned his neck skyward and a forked tongue slid through his jaws, "but you live in the sky, here, where the stars are." He said and Chrysia looked upwards too, to her surprise she saw the beautiful glowing white dots shining brilliantly in the sky.
"Are those stars?" She asked, the serpent nodded his head,
"The gateway to heaven and eternal happiness and joy." The serpent turned to Chrysia, "only the sky people can enter the gate they say, not us, you are one of the sky people are you not?" He asked, Chrysia frowned, unsure of what he meant, "I am a nymph, but, I live in the sky, so, I must be one of the sky people!" She exclaimed happily, waving goodbye to the serpent, "I will tell you all about eternal happiness! " She said to him and the serpent nodded, "I shall wait here for you." He whispered as she shot into the sky towards the stars.
Chrysia had reached the stars, a large gate loomed above her, slightly ajar. She wandered towards it, slipping through the opening, and was greeted with a beautiful sight. Marble pillars and beautiful golden adornments spread as far as the eye could see, other nymphs from all areas of the world, she smiled with joy and so did her heart as she rushed into the party, nectar poured from fountains and people were laughing, but one man, sitting in the throne with a trident in his hand, was not happy, three men tall with seaweed woven through his beard, he had just been passed a letter. He stood from the beautiful throne and the laughter ended. The room grew silent and everyone listened as the god's voice boomed through the heavens .
"A ship has been sunk, by the great serpent."
Gasps spread through the hall and Chrysia felt a sinking feeling in her stomach, this was her fault. The god took a step closer to the guests and raised his trident, anger sparked in his eyes and the nymphs began to flee, not wanting to be caught up in his wrath. Chrysia dropped to her knees and clasped her hands together, begging to the god, "I did not mean to leave him! I thought he was nice! He said he would wait!" Tears streamed down her face as the god walked closer to her, his trident pointed directly at her.
The gods voice made the hall tremble and statues toppled to the floor and broke into many pieces.
"I can tell you are sorry, and for that I will not kill you, or condemn you to eternal suffering." He said, "instead, you will join the serpent in the sea as the traitor you are." He hissed, and cast her out of the heavens. As the nymph fell she tried desperately to fly but to no avail, she fell faster and faster, plummeting towards the water.
The water opened up and swallowed the nymph into its inky blackness and as she sunk through the water she saw monsters swim past, curious towards the new addition. She tried to scream but all that came from her mouth was beautiful notes of song, a melody that would entice many men to their doom.
For a new creature was born that day, the Siren.

(edit;; I was just reading through the entries and realised the one right above me is also based on the sea and has a glowing/animated constellation! I'm so sorry I didn't mean to copy or anything it was a coincidence)
