"Where are we going?" Secret asked excitedly, bouncing down the front steps.
"You'll have to see when we get there..." Her older brother said with a smile,
pulling the door shut behind him.
---Secret bounded along the sidewalk, every few minutes she would come back
and circle her brother then dart off again. He watched her fondly, every once
in a while he'd have to call her back because they were turning at an
intersection. Finally, they arrived at a wide open field of grass, rimmed with lush trees.
"Whoa....!" Secret's mouth dropped open and she started wide-eyed at the expanse in front of her. She looked up at her brother with big, pleading eyes.
"Well, go on." He said with a chuckle. She let a strange sound, like a mix of a giggle and a happy squeal and bolted. Her brother shook his head at her seemingly boundless energy and walked toward the treeline. Finding a nice spot in the shade, he set down the basket he had been carrying. Pulling the rolled up blanket free, he shook it out and spread it on the grass then sat down and just watched her play.
---About half an hour later, he finally called out to her. "Hey! Aren't you tired yet? Why don't come get something to eat?" She ran over immediately and plopped down, out of breath but unmistakably happy. Secret waited politely while her brother continued to pull treats out of the basket. Her mouth watered at the sight of all her favorite foods - orange soda, pineapple slices, whipped cream, Dove chocolates and humus sandwiches on five-seed bread. When the food stopped appearing, she looked up at her brother, raising an eyebrow expectantly.
"Happy sibling day!" Her brother said, spreading his arms wide. Secret lunged forward, and tackled her brother in a bear hug. He chucked and hugged her back then they both settled down and ate, laughing and reminiscing about all the fun times they had had together.
"You're the best brother ever!" Secret said, her voice muffled by his shirt as she hugged him tight. He hugged her back and both stood quietly for a moment, just relishing their bond. A moment later a butterfly fluttered by and Secret's ears perked up. Her brother loosened his hold and she chased after it, laughing merrily. He chuckled to himself and began packing up.
---Secret jumped and spun, imagining a whole other world unfolding in the butterfly's wake; each beat of it's wings creating something new. Her brother's voice reached pulled her out of the fantasy world she was exploring, "You ready to go?" She left the butterfly and ran to him, stopping at his side, "Yep!" She said happily, bobbing her head. The two headed home, the events of their travels to the park repeating themselves.

"Serenity, go get the mail please!" The young Kalon was laying kind of on the couch, and kind of off the couch upsidedown. She didn't hear her mom, as she was deep into her favorite book, Hairless Planter and the Magical Stone.

Her mom called again. "Serenity! Mail?" Her mother sighed, seeing what was going on. She walked over and stood over her daughter.

"Serenity!!!!!!"

'Wha- Huh?" The young Kalon flew off of the couch, kicking her mom in the process. "Whoops!"

"Just go get the mail, keep this up and you will be grounded from reading!"

Serenity ran out the door, down the street, and to the post office. She went inside and got the mail, but on her way out, she noticed a small flash of movement.

"Huh?" She set the mail down on the sidewalk and crept towards the bush.

"Meow!" A small white kitten jumped out from behind the bush.

"Awwww!" Serenity picked the tiny thing up, cooing at it. The kitten purred. She started to walk home with it, then ran back and grabbed the mail.

"Serenity, where did you get that cat?" Her mother had asked when she got home.

"Oh, it just came in the mail."

fav childhood memory:: wrote: There was nothing on her mind, excitement clouding her
thoughts, and all Birdie could do was walk as fast as her
little legs could carry her. She trailed behind her mother,
sometimes trodding on her poofy tail by accident. The
sun was beginning to set and dusk crept up slowly around
her. The air was buzzing with other eager young voices,
some expressing their desire for the sweet taste of
cotton candy, some for funnel cake, and even a couple
telling their friends their evil plots for the dunk tank.
Birdie only had one goal and she peered over the trees
along the sidewalk trying to get a glimpse of its tall
glory. Soon they reached the entrance, the huge sign
decorated with colored lights shining in her eyes.
It read "CARNIVAL."

Birdie pushed ahead of her parents, her nose in the air
as she smelled all the sweet and salty foods coming from
brightly decorated stalls around her. A stand selling
candy apples caught her eye, but she continued on.
Finally she saw it. It glittered against the nearly dark sky
like a thousand rainbow stars and Birdie's fur stood on end
with glee. "Come on, Mom!" she cried, dragging her
amused mother behind her. Together, they boarded the
enormous Ferris-wheel. Birdie grinned as it began to move
under them. Their car rocked slightly as she leaned over
the edge to get a better look at all the kalons walking about
below her and her hometown stretching out like a dark shadow
beyond that. They went around a couple of times, and
suddenly, as they reached the top once again, the ride slowed
to a stop. Birdie was higher than all the other passengers on
the Ferris-wheel. A few moments passed, and then a bright burst
of blue light exploded across the black sky. Fireworks! Birdie
watched the spectacular light show in awe. It only went on for
a few minutes, but it seemed like she was frozen in time.

When Birdie and her mother finally reached the earth again,
she was ecstatic for hours more, even after they got home,
a red candy apple clutched tightly in her paw.

name:: Snows Blossom
gender:: Female
fav childhood memory::
Snows just couldn't help it. The performance was tomorrow and she couldn't sleep. She was excited for her friend, even though they couldn't even play well, they got the trumpet solo.

Why they were chosen for the solo, she didn't know. The only sound that came from the trumpet sounded like an elephant farting or her mums singing, both she was sure weren't nice sounds. Perhaps her friend was chosen because they were the only one in the whole primary school who took lessons? Having no competition did help them, she guessed.

Snows was also slightly worried for her friend, since they often got nervous about performing. Whilst they really couldn't play, no-one else in the performance, including her, could sing or play an instrument well anyway, so she finally decided things would be fine.

It was well past midnight and Snows couldn't sleep. She decided a glass of milk would help her finally sleep, so with all good intentions, she nosily walked down the stairs, almost knocking off her parents priceless vase as she went past it. Just when she was at the bottom of the stairs she noticed a gold thing glistening in the light from a streetlamp from outside. Without thinking, she grabbed it and ran upstairs, back to her room. She then looked at the object she had stolen from its hiding place. It was her friends trumpet, they must have left it at Snows house whilst they came round to practice with her.

She stood up, grasping the instrument between her two small paws. With one large puff of air, she breathed in. Snows breathed out slowly. The trumpet decided to make no sound bar a high pitched, yet quiet whistle. With a bigger breath, Snows breathed out with all the force she had.

Forwaaarrrrppppp
The trumpet made a loud fog horn sound. Snows continued to try to play the instrument, blurting out funny sound after funny sound. Before long she was laughing, making so much noise the neighbours dog woke and began barking. Snows giggled as she heard her neighbour waking up to the complete racket, yelling at his dog to shut up.

Even though she was already beginning to wake others up, she continued to (attempt to) play the instrument. It was fun, but a bit tiring. Before long Snows had the whole neighbourhood awake, dogs barking, alarms going off, police sirens in the background. Snows thought it was great fun, but she soon realised someone would catch her. She quickly ran back downstairs, putting the trumpet back where she found it before sprinting back upstairs and into her bedroom. She was in the nick of time, too. Her parents had finally awoken, even though Snows was sure they could sleep through the end of the world. She started to cry, out of fear she'd been caught.

Her parents were actually completely unaware that it was their little angel who had caused all the commotion. They comforted Snows and even gave her a cookie and glass of milk to help her sleep. Snows had a guilty feeling after receiving the cookie, but it made her somewhat proud that she'd completely gotten away with yet another thing. She walked slowly up the stairs and into her room, forgetting to brush her teeth. She couldn't help it but giggle mischievously as the police arrived at her door. She listened to her parents talking about how all the noise had woken them and their precious little daughter up and how they had no idea what all the fuss was about in the first place.

To this very day, Snows is the only one who knows what really happened, as she herself was the cause.

fav childhood memory::

-- am I just not good enough...? --

out of all the houses in the neighborhood, yume ran'nās was the most beautiful. her mother planted a small flower garden when she was very little and it's only grown since, taking over their entire front yard. ivy reached up the sides of their house and rimmed the windows. flowers burst in the spring and always brought a smile to yume's lips when she came home from school.
not today.
her eyes were misty, her cheeks red. yume hurried up the steps and took a deep breath. maybe, just maybe, if she could go quick enough she could make it to her room before her mother saw her tears. and so she pushed open the door and in a flash of pastel pink fur, sped right over to her room and-

-- yunā, dear, are you home? --

her mother's sweet gentle voice stopped her in her tracks. no, no. this wouldn't be good. yume's cheeks instantly flushed red. her mother had never seen her cry.. she was always the sweet, level headed daughter who would comfort her brother when he was frustrated or help her mother plant strawberries in the garden or came home with a new friend. crying was.. it wasn't like her.

-- i.. y-yeah.. --

she gulped and turned around. there was nothing she could do now. her mother's soft features turned to shocked as she ran over to her daughter and buried her in a hug. for a few minutes, thats all they did. when yuma finally released, she couldn't look her mother in the eyes.

-- yunā. what happened? --

yume forced herself to bring her gaze to meet her mother's.

-- at school. I was telling the class about how we had a flower garden. how we always care for them together and water them and read to them so they grow nice and big. --

she sniffed, and tried to resist the urge to run and hide.

-- after school.. the kids just laughed. told me I was childish. and I am. none of those kids plant flowers and hang out with their mom. it's a baby thing.. I'm mature now. but they pointed and made fun and.. I feel bad. --

another hug, longer.

-- oh, dear. you aren't childish for doing something you love. flowers aren't childish, either. they're wonderful. they begin as little brown seeds and bit by bit grow into colorful blooms, that grow when you sing to them and drink the sun's rays, and spend all day outside in the warm air because they love it. those children simply don't understand, yunā. and that is okay. you are okay. --

light sobs came from yume's body as they hugged. when her mother released, yume wandered back outside into the garden. it was true. her flowers were amazing. and if the other children couldn't see.. that was their own problem. she was happy.

why, you might think, would this be a favorite memory? simply because it taught her not to change herself to please others. to this day, she looks back on that time to calm herself and remember to live how she wants to.

today she looks out form the window of her shop, surrounded by flowers and the sweet smell of pollen. kalons come in and out to buy from the small town florist. she invites them in for a cup of tea and to chat. and when they leave, they leave with a smile on their face.
