If you see a Kalon with tiger stripes and the colors of night, drowsily struggling through the day and wondering "why me", that's Yume. He may seem like an ordinary sleep deprived Kalon, but you'd be wrong. Well, you'd kinda be wrong because he is a sleep deprived kalon, but he's no ordinary sleep deprived kalon, hes Super Sleep Deprived Kalon! No, I'm kidding. Yume's family has a unique history. A unique... power you could say, passed down for generations. In all honesty though, this 'power' is more of a burden than anything. It keeps him "up" all night, although if you watched him you'd think he was sleeping. This power takes him to a different world where everyone is nocturnal, and everyone either treats him like a king, or their worst enemy. It sounds like something in a fairy tale, or a nightmare. Something that's been "made up" before. Well, Yume only wishes it was made up. He only wishes the endless sleepless nights would end and the constant fleeing from danger, wondering when he could be safe.
What do they (day)dream about? ;;
You've probably guessed it by now, Yume has a huge problem. When he "falls asleep" at night, that's when he's transported to another dimension. There are three sentient species in this world, the Gultreg, the Ilnara, and the Veteras. The Gultreg are the most brutish seeming, and have unique customs that are so important to them that they mean life or death. They appear reptilian, and range in appearances from alligator-like to snake-like. They have seperated themselves into clans based on what kind of Gultreg they are, and the clans are always on edge with each other and the other two sentient species. The Gultreg live in a desert, although a few rogues live in the jungle. The Ilnara resemble canines from foxes to wolves, and are adept at using arcane magic. They all live in harmony with each other, and live in a cities of crystals. Lastly, the Veteras are a species like deer and similar creatures, although they are about the height of the other two species. They live in forests, and are adept with nature magic. They try not to interact with other species very often, for fear of conflict. The problem is, there are hints that war will begin and there is a prophecy stating an unlikely stranger will save them all. The problem is, Yume is no hero, he can't fight, and can't use magic. At least he doesn't think he can do any of those things. Plus, all that adventuring and trying to save himself and the lives of others because of some prophecy and powers passed down from generations keeps him from getting any real sleep. He's a friendly and generous Kalon, for sure, but saving the lives of hundreds of strangers on another planet isn't what he signed up for, and all he wants is a good night's sleep! Even when awake Yume finds his mind drifting back to that world, and creating a warped reality of it as he struggles to stay awake.

Why are they tired? ;; see his first fireflies dancing above a lake near his home and since this night he waits every night at the lake to see the dancing insects. so, don't panic, in a few weeks when the spectacle is over, he will be sleep all night again.

Why are they tired? ;; Tora has a bad case of PTSD. Ever since she was little and fell through the ice at her grandparents farm she has not only feared water, but feared for her life. Now when sleeping those memories resurface and cause her to wake up multiple times per night in a cold sweat.
What do they (day)dream about? ;; Tora is a day dreamer though. She dreams about long walks on the beach whedre she isn't afraid and the ocean hits her sandy paws, dolphins jumping in the distance.
