Please enlighten which part of "I'm sorry, but the beach is not my idea of fun" you struggle to understand. Even after me offering to pay for an alternate holiday (or vacation, as you seem to call it) out of my life savings, you insist on dragging me to a beach? Well, to help explain my burning passion against the beach, I have written this letter.
Problem number one : sand. The stuff is everywhere (duh, it's a beach). It remains everywhere months after visiting. The amount of shoes I've ruined... It's like glitter! Appears everywhere after a single encounter! Another point, why is it that nobody can actually put their litter where it belongs (which, to note, is not on the floor)? You complain about how animals are hurt and about global warning, but it's only us to blame! If your so worried about the poor animals, get off your butt and pick up your plastic packets! Gosh.
I apologise for ranting so, but I am still not quite finished. Alongside our animal issues and that reappearing sand magic trick, there's the issue of food. Those bothered enough to pack a picnic leave their rubbish and the food you can buy is so stereotypical. Sorry, but I don't want to be living off of fish and chips for the rest of my life, alongside how candy floss, doughnuts and various other sugar filled delights aren't exactly the best snack either considering some of us are into savoury. Hey ho, we can just have it stolen by the gulls - that's all that happens anyway.
I would like to end on a few positive notes though. Picking up some shells and souvenirs is a fun touch, if a bit pricey (and sandy). The aquatic animals are cute, especially those found in rock pools. I just wish you'd understand that although I'm not an outdoor-sey guy, I will tolerate anywhere but the seaside.
Yours sincerely,
Finn
