Writing: About nine million years ago, Levi was going to get a new hairdo for the first time. Was he nervous? Oh yes, indeed he was. Levi's mom forced him to get a new haircut since his hair was always a disaster.

*Levi walked into the shop.
*Levi started to tremble.

Levi's mother was talking to some punk guy, and Levi was brought over to a chair.

*Levi's teeth started to chatter.
*Levi did not want to go into the chair.

The hairdresser tried and tried to get Levi into the chair. It did not work.

*Levi started to sweat alot.
*Levi forced himself not to get into the chair.

Levi's mother glared at him. Instantly Levi got into the chair.

*Levi clung to the chair.
*Levi saw how messy his hair was.
*Levi looked at the hairdresser. He had a mohawk.
*Levi saw another hairdresser shave someone's hair off.
*Levi started to cry.

Levi's mother said something to the hairdresser. The hairdresser got some scissors.

*Levi closed his eyes tightly.
*Levi was freaking out.

The hairdresser snipped a centimeter of hair off Levi's head.

*Levi screeched.
*Levi cried.
*Levi wanted the horror to stop.
*Levi realized his hair wasn't going to be shaved off.
*Levi ran out of the shop, just to make sure he would not get his hair shaved off.

His mother sighed. Levi was to never get his hair fixed.

Hazy hues make up his once vibrant life, wiping away the memory of colors he so adored. Ashen was blind, and has been for half of his life. His mind clings desperately to the world he once knew, but his sight is gone, and so has his spirit.

His paws thud against the pleasant moist ground of the field, his fur rippling with an invisible wind. Ashen stretched his softly padded body before laying down, ignoring the brush of his silky hair that would always hang in front of his face, hiding his eyes. His jaw widened in a yawn, taking in the morning scent of dew and pollen, musing himself with how vibrant the colors of the flowers would be. But before Ashen could let his sullen mind drift off into a slumber, a silky voice echoed from his left.

"A pretty boy left in a patch of flowers, so similar to a single rose, but wilting like a weed."

Ashen didn't lift his head up, though his ears flickered in confusion and irritation.

"Look at the world around you, so filled with light and warmth."

"I can't... I can't see the world around me." He breathed, letting his face drop to the lush grass.

"That's because you aren't trying."

Ashen's tail whipped around, annoyed.
"Who are you to say?"

Suddenly, his vision brightened, causing the young male plumerian to freeze in uncertainty. This had to be a cruel joke.
"What have you done?" His once calm and smooth voice hitched in uncertainty and hope.

A bright laughter answered him as he felt a warm body settle next to his.

" I've uncovered the veil you so desperately try to hide behind. I've tied back your hair, so you can finally see. You can't see the world, but you can still see light, you can feel it if you try. You can hear the birds singing and join them whenever you want.... Others that are more unfortunate than you cannot do such things. A girl somewhere in this world can't hear a beautiful voice, she can't feel the warmth of the sun shining upon her pelt. Take what you have, and make the most of it. "

This time, Ashen faced the feminine voice, his head tilted in thought.
"And how come you can hear me?"

"Because I try, and when I try, I succeed. I can see your mouth move, I can see the light shinning upon you, making your crystal blue eyes sparkle like a waterfall. I can imagine myself, with your abilities to hear and feel, and when I do, I'm happy, truly happy."

And for the first time since the day he was blind, Ashen smiled a warm smile filled with tenderness, joy, and hope.
Ashen then decided that from that minute, he was never going to let his eyes slow him down.
He would be proud, no matter what.
