And what would you like,
Doll's Name; Nero
Name Meaning; A name probably of Sabine origin meaning "strong, vigourous". It was borne most infamously by a tyrannical Roman emperor of the 1st century.
Gender; Nero refers to himself with male pronouns and the like.
Personality; He's a doll who holds himself to what he's worth and no more. Nero is extremely down-to-earth and practical, only really acting when it truly makes sense. This being said, he doesn't speak much, but when he does, Nero speaks in a low voice that contains much meaning. Despite his good qualities, the doll finds it hard to become attached to things, and is prone to abandoning what he doesn't particularly care for.
Shadow's Name; Lucretia
Name Meaning; Feminine form of the Roman family name Lucretius, possibly from the Latin word lucrum meaning "profit, wealth".
Gender; Appears to be biologically female, and appears to use the corresponding pronouns.
Original Item; Lucretia was born from petals shed from a rose which had wilted. The rose was a gift from one lover to another, and coincidentally perished when the relationship ended. The petals that make up her dress are indeed the originals, though have returned to look healthy again - only for the sake of her appearance.
Personality; Bright and bubbly, Lucretia is a constant voice in Nero's ear. Constantly chattering and extremely talkative, she's always eager to offer him a bit of friendly advice, or a little dirt on some other doll that she managed to uncover. This being said, she can be a bit of a brown-nose, using others' strengths to make herself more influential, in a sense. Nonetheless, she bears an extreme loyalty to Nero, him being the one she wouldn't think of betraying - ever.
Relationship; Nero and Lucretia's relationships is a little unorthodox, to be honest. Quite frankly,
Nero could care less if he had Lucretia constantly buzzing about in his ear. Not that he'd ditch her
at the first chance he got, but the option... is still there. However, Lucretia looks to Nero as if he
were a god. She views him as some higher being, constantly praising him and generally displaying
joyous feelings in his direction. After all, he was a big factor in how she came to exist. Some may
even say that she is infatuated with him, to the point where it's out of hand.
Hm... What's that?
You'd like to reminisce on how we met?
A sigh managed to escape the doll's mouth, and heaving himself over the very edge of his home, he
plummeted straight into... snow. Twitching fingers reached upwards to pull the golden scarf over his
face - even as a being made of wood, the chill of winter still ran through him. "Nero," came a voice
from behind him. "Please be careful. It's awfully cold out and your joints can freeze." The voice was
childlike, with a high-pitch, and trailed off as it watched the back of Nero.
"I'm not coming back." Nero's words came out like the icy wind billowing about. He didn't even bother
to turn as he spoke. Before his former companion could come up with a response he traipsed off, back
turned to what he now viewed as 'old news'. In the distance, he could hear them screaming at him.
"Go on, you idiot! It's never like you'll be able to settle anywhere, anyways!"
Nero was unaffected by those words.
Almost a full day had passed, and Nero still journeyed; vaulting himself over fallen tree branches and
clambering over snow-covered rocks. Whenever the air would begin to bite at his joints would he duck
down for cover, huddling for warmth - despite his lack of body heat.
Only after another meager hour of travelling, the doll came upon a small cottage. 'Humans?' He thought
to himself, allowing his jacket to slip off of his shoulders absentmindedly. 'If i can sneak in, there's a good
chance i'll be able to melt this frost and can continue moving.' And so he did just that, crouching down and
prowling towards the doorstep. If anything, he would be able to use his small stature to get it - the packed
mounds of snow enabled him to climb up to where he wouldn't be able to reach under normal circumstances.
Almost coincidentally, the door was open just a crack, no light seeping out from the the inside. This made
Nero wary - if there wasn't even a fire lit inside, there would be no point in going it. But the small bit of
heat the radiated from that crack, taunting the doll, and eventually drawing him in.
But the first thing that greeted Nero was not the warmth that he was seeking. It was a small mass of black
wearing the petals of a wilted flower, crouching down on the tiled floor as if it was sleeping. Yet upon sensing
the presence of another it perked up, eyes gleaming.
"You... You're a doll!" It exclaimed with a weak, crackly voice. Rising to its knees, the small being - what Nero
assumed to be female - began crawling towards him. "Please! Please... help me. I... I need a doll to make a
contract with me if I am to live." Nero's eyebrows knit together, and he took a step back. He had heard of
shadows and took no interest, but with something as pitiful as this kneeling before him - begging - he just
couldn't say no. If he was to save her life...
"Alright. Though, please don't get in my way." Acknowledging her first, Nero nodded his head, soon after
striding around her and towards the fireplace, where the embers of what was once a fire crackled. A
plethora of thanks and grateful phrases could be heard behind him, and with a hearty smile, the little
fairy danced to her feet and chased after him.
"May I call you my lord?"
"No, just Nero is fine."
"Alright, Nero, my Lord. My name is Lucretia!"
Nero sighed. Though the embers of something new burned between them, the doll still wasn't sure what
to think of his newly found shadow. 'Why did it have to be the annoying one?'
What he didn't notice, however, was that Lucreatia's petal dress had grew bright, restored to its former glory.

tests and upcoming exams, but i quite like what i've been able to do. Whoever wins is more than welcome to keep my art! <3
