PERSONALITY
Neptune is a total introvert often times and is generally pretty shy among most, but underneath all the hair is a genuinely funny and caring guy. He tries not to let his anxiety get to him, and attempts to show it. He gets upset easily, mostly when someone films or takes a picture of him. Neptune has a deep love for classic rock and is not afraid to belt out the lyrics to a favorite song, despite his introverted nature. They were finally sending people to space again.
Neptune had been waiting his whole life for this, tirelessly working towards someday going
up to the space station and achieving his dream.
It had started when Comet, one of his dads, gave him a silver saturn necklace.
He hadn't really paid attention to the stars when Comet dragged him along to stargaze,
but the simple necklace had made him curious.
What was really out there?
From that moment on, he dedicated his life to becoming an astronaut,
but once they stopped sending people to space, at least for a bit, Neptune focused
on becoming an astrophysicist, studying the stars.
He had never thought that soon, he too would go to space.
---
Neptune gazed out of the porthole, letting the others on the ship control the ship.
He was just a scientist anyway, and besides, he thought, they know how to pilot it.
Earth was shrinking before his eyes. Where it once used to fill up the porthole, it now neatly
brushed the rim and shrank slowly. Pressing a single paw to the glass, Neptune sighed.
It was beautiful up there.
The time had come. They were halfway to the space station, and mission control
had allowed them to stop for a moment and go outside the ship.
Neptune pulled on his space suit and helmet, following the other astronauts
and scientists to the airlock, pressing the button and watching the hatch close.
One more door and he would be in space.
-click!-
It was open.
Cautiously waving a paw in space, Neptune clenched his eyes closed
automatically. You can do this.
He leaped out the door, curling up instinctively, and pulling his helmet down
even though it was secured. Neptune cautiously opened one eye, refusing
to breath for fear of not having oxygen in the helmet.
The faraway stars comforted him, and he opened the other eye
before taking a cautious breath.
You promised to wave!
Neptune remembered, raising one arm in a sort of salute,
waving towards the part of land he hoped was where Venus was,
turning again and waving towards Comet, before smiling.
Tears slowly crept down his face.
He did it.
He was in space.
