Eliora, despite the fact that her name means "light, " has a morbid fascination for dark subjects, particularly those revolving around death. She loves spending her free time in cemeteries and photographing gravestones and miscellaneous grave markers around her hometown.But most of all, she loves studying the epitaphs on gravestones. Eliora will spend hours walking through cemeteries, stopping to read each one, from the names to the dates. When she finds one that is particularly fascinating, she will make sure to get a good photograph to take home with her. If the gravestone is sturdy and solid enough, she will take out a sheet of tracing paper and place it over the text and decorative designs of the tombstone, and with a piece of soft charcoal, she will rub the paper to create an imprint of the tombstone on her paper. These gravestone rubbings are her absolute favorite, and she loves to take them home to study and compare. Everything from the fonts, to the date of death, the frills and flowers adorning them, and the epitaphs, Eliora loves studying them and coming to her own conclusions as to how their lives may have been when they were alive. She keeps her rubbings in order by the date of death as best as she can, so that she may see the progression of gravestones over the centuries. Her favorite tombstone rubbing, however, is simply a solid grey piece of tracing paper. She keeps this one on her desk with the corresponding photograph of the blank gravestone that created this impression. There is so much mystery in this gravestone that she has yet to uncover, with no sign of worn out names or dates, she must infer based on the gravestones surrounding it as to the identity of the grave it marks. The mystery of this gravestone both stumps and fascinates Eliora. She studies it day in and day out in hopes of uncovering its secrets.
