Name: Styx
Name meaning: Named after the River Styx, in the Underworld in Greek mythology. Said to hold the hopes and dreams of the dead.
Gender: Female
History: Styx was one of the first Hazard Cats made. Her name then was just 'Project 6, Shadow Cat'. They ran tests on her, and the pressure and pure intensity of the tests cost her her life. As she was made in Greece, she knew a lot about Greek mythology, and after her death, was sent to the Fields of Asphodel, where she was basically trapped in a field forever. So she lived like that for many years, hearing other voices but never seeing anyone, until the fateful 150 drew close.

That was the day she had met another person in the Fields, and the sight scared her. The figure seemed to have no definite shape, as they, she couldn't tell of they were male or female, had mist swirling around them. They offered her a choice. Stay in the Fields, where she would've safe from all harm, or have another shot at life, but she couldn't be sure she'd be safe. Styx was thirsty for other people to talk with, so she took the second option right away.

She woke up in a lab, similar but different to the one she was created in. At first she panicked, but then saw the other Hazard Cats. She had helped make each one better for the world. For the first time in ages, she felt proud.

Then things fell apart.

Her grate and screen kept on acting up, giving her short mood swings as her heartbeat changed, and when her grate activated, instead of steam from long ago, wisps of something came out. Soon she realized they were lost dreams, like the ones in the river she was named after. They became frightened of her, wary of her actions. She wanted to go, but wanted interaction too. Something she was thoroughly deprived of in the Fields.

So, she taped up her grate to stop any more lost dreams coming out. Her screen, which had shattered from her mood swings, was very fragile, so she took care of it. Her extra limbs and eyes became useful, as she became more and more used to having 6 legs rather than 4, which was a mutation from he past life to her current one, and the power of her teal eyes are to see someone's inner dream, what they want to achieve in life more than anything.

it's hard to believe how popular the hazard cats have become since our first specimen got adopted! we've successfully incubated a hundred and forty-nine of them already. i think the next one will be a bit more special, a beta tester if you will. we're giving it a longer tail for proportion purposes, several isolated insect genes that are supposed to eliminate the possibility of circuit rot, miscellaneous anglerfish genes and other minor modifications. i'm excited for this specimen, it's a bit of a risk, our science team says, but i'm sure our work will spawn something amazing. i wonder if i will be able to adopt it, actually. it's strange to admit but i feel connected to it already...maybe i had too much coffee.

i'm afraid the experimential gene combonation has gone terribly wrong. the specimen is currently being contained in quarantine, it may carry novel allergenes or even bacteria, viruses and diseases. it has an additional frontal pair of limbs and several other mutated features. the most disturbing one are its multipule eyes that may hold dangerous amounts of power. we're currently carrying out tests but our results seems a bit off...

the mutated specimen has been classifed as a male. he's perfectly healthy despite his somewhat gnarled appearance. we're investigating his spinal fin, which seems to have undergone a metamorphosis. actually, it keeps morphing! the colours of it, they keep swirling and moving and when i look at it closley it's almost as if those were specific images, little scenes with little figures. i reckon this hazard is a mystery for now. i've began calling him caramel but he needs a more regal name. the teams says all his eyes are null but i didn't believe that for a second. we're beffuddled, the whole team is beffuddled. nothing is certain about him except that he's got a light tail and steam gate. on another, lighter, note, caramel has began walking. his movement is uncoordinated but a feline expert we contacted assures us it's a behavior pattern that will eventually cease.

caramel has been finally moved out of quarantine and brought into contact with other hazards his age. he's very quiet and reserved and may have some attention disorders and such, instead of being playful and frisky like his peers he keeps scrutinizing his surroundings and staring at a blank space for very long. sometimes i wonder if he can see what no other living thing can see, something the other kittens are afraid of. they say animals can sense many things we can't including ghosts...not that i believe in ghosts or zombies or such. but now i'm faltering. there is something unusual and perhaps dark about carmel. i haven't come into close contact with him but the others have described it as 'highly unpleasant' and 'unnerving'. i wonder, is it his deformation or is something following or even haunting caramel? something we can't understand, and that's why we fear it. does caramel understand? is he part of it? is that why others hazards avoid him? my speculation is probably incorrect but it's things like that which keep us awake at night.

Why this name?: Nobody would name me, but I heard humans talk about a show about special/strange ponies. One of which spread love, her name was Mi Amore Cadenza and I liked it so started calling myself that.


I wrote this soon after I saw her and I hope to be the one that supplies the love she wants. I drew/wrote it all myself and then carefully traced it on the computer and colored it in. I may try to add more.this is not how I feel.
