Much prefers to go by his nickname 'Click' - gained in infancy thanks
to the noise his distinctive hooves make on hard floors/ground.

BRIEF HISTORY
____________________________________________________

Abandoned as a pup, he was found by Quincunx and his husband Purada BaAAAAag, who live in the middle of NOWHERE. But freeeeky stuff happens in nowhere, and it's up to Click, to save his new home!

When he was very, very young - the boy must have only been a few days out of the shell - he was surrendered to an orphanage in the city of Preveza. According to the paperwork filled out at the time, the reason for his surrender was purely financial. The family already had several other children to care for at the time of his birth and, with the country being in the midst of a severe economic downturn, simply didn't have the means to feed another hungry beak. But this did not mean the decision was easy. It was only after much deliberation that they decided to do what they felt was best for their son's future. Thus they stepped out of his life forever, leaving him with a sock monkey doll, a name - Kontodimas, for the family he would never know - and a hope for tomorrow.

The available records do not tell us anything further about the boy's family.

His circumstances were by no means unique. His albino coloration and strangely mutated hind legs, on the other hand, were. As such, he immediately caught the eye of the staff. Many of them took one look at him and couldn't help but draw a line between the new arrival and the God Pan, stories of whom had been passed down in Greece from antiquity and whose statues could be found in museums around the world. As such, it wasn't long before some clever someone working on the third floor started calling him 'Aegocerus' - a name that only became more fitting as the boy matured and began to sprout little nubs on his forehead.

.: Urban Pan :.

As his namesake is to the forest, Click is to the city - while he's in an urban environment, he is utterly in his element. The young Parra knows every nook and cranny of every block, dead-end alley, abandoned building and rooftop like the back of his paw, and he knows a million shortcuts to a million places that no one else knows exists. Every habitually unlocked door, window or gate is marked upon his mental map, as is every loose grate and hole in the wall, and he more-or-less has the traffic patterns down to a science. As such, it's quite easy for him to vanish into the cityscape and if he doesn't want to be found, you won't find him. (Think Chris from the episode of 'The Naked City' entitled 'The King of Venus Will Take Care of You', if you've seen it!) Take him out of the urban jungle however, and stick him in a real one, and he'll have absolutely no clue what to do with himself. He has zero wilderness survival skills. He'll most likely just sit and stare around with wide eyes for the next half hour, then whine about being hungry to no one in particular while he jumps at every last rustle in the bushes. His heart definitely beats to the rhythm of the streets. Maybe as he gets older, he'll pay as much attention to the people...

.: Vain :.

Click's vanity, in part, is everyone else's fault. While the young Parra has always known that he's different from the rest of his species, he didn't initially attach any real significance to it. After all, there is quite a bit of natural variation to be found within Parrapup kind. He'd seen hundreds of different beaks adorning faces in his city alone, along with brightly glowing markings, manes, bob tails, fluffy tails and bald tails, not to mention elongated ears and floppy ears, black scleras, slitted eyes and eyes without pupils. He'd even herd rumors of a Parra family with dragon wings living in a distant land. So why care about hooves? About horns? In fact, compared to all that mess, he'd always thought himself comparatively plain. Being more-or-less solid white and all. As he grew older though, he began to take stock of just how many people, upon catching sight of his curving horns and goat-like hind legs, couldn't help but fawn over him (*is whacked*), sometimes even going so far as to compare his caprinae features and alabaster fur to statues of the God Pan which could be found in museums within spitting distance of the orphanage he lived in at the time. So, gradually, Click reappraised himself. With each compliment the young Parra became more and more full of himself. These days he's come to expect the attention, taking great pride in the recognition and appreciation he gets from total strangers. He's even a bit indignant when he doesn't get it. Obviously horns and goat hooves are better than those other mutations. He's unique, he's special, and he knows it. As such, Click takes care to buff his horns, hooves and beak every morning, maintaining their luster, and pays the same special attention to his curly mane and thick fur so as to avoid unsightly dirt and tangles. He has to keep up appearances in front of his people! Hopefully he'll grow out of it a bit...

.: Impulsive :.

Planning ahead really isn't a thing for Click, nor are long-term commitments, and he mostly makes it up as he goes along. That is to say: if he sees an opportunity, likes the immediate outcome, and is able... he'll go for it to the best of his ability. All he really cares about is short-term gain. The future is, after all, the future, and there's plenty of time between now and then to enjoy the present without having to worry about whatever may be coming down the road; you can deal with it when it gets here. That isn't to say he's a complete idiot. He's not impulsive to the point of jumping off a ten story building (without a parachute) just to feel the wind through his fur. He will, however, probably kick someone in the shin given proper justification - say someone's just insulted him or stolen his sock monkey doll - and he's not afraid to speak his mind whenever and wherever thoughts may occur to him. He won't hesitate to climb up a statue in the town square just because he feels like it, or wear a colander on his head as he walks about. He'll probably ditch his impromptu hat on the hood of someone's car in a minute or two, mind you, deciding instead to wear a flower behind his ear, freshly picked from that same someone's window box. But he's young yet. There's still plenty of time for him to learn a bit of focus and self-control. Maybe.

.: Fair :.

To a point, anyway - he never takes without giving and never gives without taking. It's just against his rules. Click's methods aren't always what you'd consider orthodox though. He'll happily trade his a box of crayons for a scone, or give you directions in exchange for a couple of paperclips. He'll also accept a bit of colored glass for a book, a demonstration of his athletic ability for a spool of thread, or a shell for a complement. Even a couple hairs from your head would be adequate payment for a toy car. For Click, seemingly random and often unrelated items are deemed to have a perfectly equivalent exchange value. This is because whatever either party has to offer is fair game - skills, talents, knowledge, connections, possessions, themselves - especially if Click thinks he can take whatever he's given and flip it for something better somewhere down the line. Monetary value rarely factors into it. It's usually use value, based on the specific moment in time the trade is being made, and/or desirability, I.E. how much does he desire the other person's item/favor and how much does he want to part with what he has? Unless someone is quite obviously trying to cheat him he does his best to be reasonable in his trading. Of course if someone offers him a perfectly ridiculous swap he'll gladly snub them back by offering a booger for their soul, or something equally ridiculous.

.: Intelligent :.

One has to be if one is fond of physics and geometry, even if the only reason you're really into physics and geometry is because you're also into parkour and you like running the numbers before you try a new move to make sure it's even possible to pull off. That way you won't learn the hard way that it's not by faceplanting on concrete half a dozen times. Yes kiddies, science DOES have practical applications! And Click is very fond of using them.

RANDOM FACTS

╬ His native language is Greek (he hails from Preveza, a city in the region of Epirus, northwestern Greece), although he speaks/writes fluent English. It helps to grow up in a tourist trap.

╬ Click leads a vivid internal life and he's been known to sit and stare at a wall for hours when he has nothing else to do, perhaps running through equations in his head or 'replaying' a movie he's seen recently. You practically have to whack him to bring him out of it.

╬ Of all the words in the dictionary, his favorite is 'Onomatopoeia'. He likes the way it sounds when other people say it, and likes writing all the 'O's. He also likes the concept behind it. His nickname's an onomatopoeia, you know!

╬ Having very thick, curly fur, Click sheds. A lot. Seriously. It's ridiculous.

╬ He was born mute. Simple as that. It's not the result of some tragic accident, and has nothing to do with his being an orphan. As long as he keeps track of his notepad and his pencil, it rarely causes him any major problems. Unless the person he's trying to communicate with can't read...

"Hercules. Even though it has nothing to do with the actual myths, I think I'd be perfect for the role. Don't you?"

"4' 3'' right now. But I bet I'll get a bit taller, even if I don't end up a giant."

What size shoe do they wear?
"I don't need shoes - my hooves are more resilient than any work-boot. Better traction too."

What is their favorite potato chip flavor?
"Ketchup."

What does your parra consider to be their greatest achievement?
"Existing. What did you expect me to say? I'm a kid. I haven't had time to achieve a whole lot yet. Come back in a year or so. I'll be famous."

"Perfect."

"Easter! In my homeland it's a pretty big deal and celebrations last several days, so there's a lot to do. Getting to hear all the church bells ring up and down the street on Saturday is really something. So are the decorations people put up, and the wonderful food they cook. What I especially love, though, is dying all the eggs red! Not only is it fun to do, but you can eat them afterwords, and on Sunday all my friends take an egg and we go around cracking them against other people's eggs to see which one lasts the longest. That's the best! I even won one year, and let me tell you - you really do get good luck from it!"

What are your parra's pet peeves?
"I don't like people touching my horns. It just feels wierd, for one thing, and it gets them all... smudgie. Also, I don't like people ignoring me. I like being looked at!"

Is your parra a fight or flight type?
"Fight. Running away never solved anything."

What was your parra's childhood dream?
"I am a child. So what you mean is... what's my current dream? I want to be famous! Either because I discover an awesome new parkour move or because I can dance really well or because I'm just handsome. Like Adonis. I don't care. As long as I'm famous!"

What's your parra's favorite pastime?
"Hanging out on the roof of the tallest building I can find, watching the city go by below me. Some would say 'daydreaming'."

╬ Quincunx Thom - 'Uncle' - When Quin initially insisted that Click call him 'uncle' instead of 'dad', the young Parra was relieved. Even though he'd really come to like the big blue fluff-ball in the short time they'd known each-other, he thought it would be strange to go around calling someone 'dad' after all these years. Recently though, Click does sometimes catch himself calling Quin 'mpampas' (dad), an indication of hew their relationship has grown in both depth and complexity. For their relationship IS complex. In general, he greatly appreciates how Quin makes an effort to make him feel at home, even going so far as to learn a few Greek stories to tell him at bedtime when he wants them, and loves the big parra's energy. His new uncle's drive to explore and learn complements his own. He just wishes Quin wouldn't worry so much about him when he leaves the house - he knows he doesn't like parkour, even though he does his best to reassure him that he's being careful - and he'd love not having to wear a hat so much of the time. But Quin is afraid of sharp things - his horns included. Click knows he's trying to get over it for his benefit, and has even made some significant progress, it's just a bit of a blow to his ego considering the fact that he puts so much pride into his horns...

╬ Malachite - Big sister - Malachite was already a grownup living out of the house by the time Click came into the picture. Thus he doesn't know her as well as he could. Still, whenever Quin has something to take care of and can't bring Click along, he's in the habit of dropping him off at Mali's for a while. So he does get to spend some time with her. He just wishes that he could do it without Micky, Rosealyn and Alex constantly getting in the way - Mali's 'mom' mode is much different from her 'free-time' mode after all, and it's difficult to really get to know her when her attention's split four different ways. In his experience though, Mali seems nice enough. She's very easy to talk to and is great at keeping secrets. She's also incredibly smart when it comes to math and science, so whenever he needs help with a physics problem he knows where to go - she can take him through it step by step in no time flat, leaving him with a much better understanding of what he did wrong. Yet the reason he's most grateful to her is because she's really been a great help in helping him figure out how to deal with some of his new uncle's stranger habits/issues - knowledge born of experience!

╬ Trolli - Family pet - Click's never had a pet before now, and is beginning to understand why people like them. Whenever he sits down anywhere in the house for whatever reason, as long as Quin's busy elsewhere, he will inevitably look down to discover Trolli in his lap, fast asleep. He doesn't find it nearly as cute as his uncle does. No one can find it as cute as his uncle does. It's impossible. Nevertheless, he doesn't mind. Petting the silky smooth critter can be relaxing after a long day, and he appreciates the little guy's affection even if he sometimes gets in the way.

╬ Alex Jett - Brother-in-law - Alex is very possibly the only parra in the world around whom Click does his best to reign in his random impulses, mostly because he's set off the older Parra's legendary temper once or twice already and aims to avoid setting it off ever again. He simply doesn't like being yelled at by someone he halfway looks up to - Click quite admires his brother-in-law's sense of style, along with the way he carries himself and seems to care for his family, which Click doesn't see himself as being included in. At least by Alex's definition. At best he feels like a close friend. At worst he feels like a complete outsider. As a result, Click feels somewhat on edge whenever Alex is in the room, no matter how good a mood he's in or how happily they may seem to be chatting away with each other. Click is always partly aware that he's treading on thin ice...

╬ Tarot - Brat niece - Very few Parras get along with Tarot for any length of time. Unsurprisingly, Click isn't one of them. In fact, to be perfectly blunt about it, he openly despises her. Even if she didn't refuse to acknowledge the things he writes in his notepad as being legitimate conversation, even if she didn't insist on calling him goat-boy, he'd still find her complete and utter unwillingness to help anyone other than herself to be disgusting. She treats her dumb plants better than she treats other Parras! Add to that the fact she doesn't eat anything but bugs - which is just creepy - and you have a recipe for conflict. As such, he's gotten into the habit of rearranging her fridge magnets whenever possible, just to tick her off, and he's not above swapping some of her opera records out for those of various pop groups he knows she hates. He'll even leave the greenhouse door open every once and a while to let squirrels and rabbits in. It's petty, but it makes him feel better. If only he had a quarter for every time she threatened to feed him to her pitcher plant...

╬ Micky Jett - Psudobrother - Despite the fact that Micky is in fact Click's nephew, the narrow gap that exists between their ages has drawn them closer together. As such, they act more like brothers than uncle and nephew. It also helps that each finds many of the other's hobbies interesting. Click often tries his hand at fencing, even if he usually only ends up being a target, and Micky has picked up a few simpler Parkour tricks (The only thing Micky can't get his uncle to do is play pirate with him. Click refuses to wear the costume). They both also share a love of food - never mind the fact that most of the 'food' Micky loves is of the 'junk' variety - and have a habit of ganging up on Quin whenever they learn that he's going to visit Cora, a friend of the family, whom they both know to be an excellent cook. They'll only stop when Quin agrees to see what he can do about bringing them back a treat!

╬ Rosealyn Jett - Psudosister - As with her twin brother Micky, Click views his niece Roslyn, whom he calls 'Roz', as more of a sister then anything else. Of course that doesn't mean they always get along, or even that they're best buddies. Her impatience can frustrate Click, who is is often in no rush to do anything, and his impulsiveness can deeply upset her desire to maintain control over the world around her. Sometimes he feels as if she simply doesn't trust him to make his own decisions! Nevertheless, they both very much enjoy exploring and share a similar thirst for discovery. Thus they often challenge each other - Who can find the coolest thing today? Who can discover a new place? Who can break into Tarot's room and steal something without being caught?

Since coming to live with Quin and his extended family, Click has gone to many new places, tried many new things, and has met many new Parras from all walks of life, some of whom he's even turned into friends. Of course one Parra continues to stand out from the crowd. Cherry "Straw" Berry - or 'Cher' as he insists on calling her - is a spoon-billed girl only two years older than Click who sports a dark, curly mane not dissimilar to his much paler one. Yet their matching hairstyles have nothing to do with why they became friends. This is instead due to the fact that, as it turns out, she's also an orphan from Greece. While they hail from different regions, they quickly discovered a common cultural background which has helped both of them to adjust in their new surroundings, and they frequently speak to each other in Greek about anything and everything, from their experiences in the orphanage to their new lives, from homework, to what they had for dinner last night. Click has fast found that having someone around who understands what you've been through is a great relief. Beyond that though, Click appreciates Cher's generosity and willingness to help people, even though he thinks that she can be too generous upon occasion. As such, he does his best to make sure nobody takes advantage of her kindness. The only real point of contention between them is their continuing debate on whether the forest is better than the city or visa-verse. Click continuously tries to get Cher interested in the concrete jungle, taking her around to all his favorite spots in an effort to show her why the city's so great, even while she talks him into going along on her walks in the woods and tries to get him to see the beauty of nature. So far, neither has made any headway.

What creature is he based off of?;;

A faun - Satyrs are most commonly depicted as humans with horse tails, where as this little guy quite clearly has the hindquarters of a goat (and pointy ears to boot!). Furthermore, he has horns, which more closely associates him with the Greek Pan than the Roman Faunus. The former has always been depicted with horns while the latter, at least initially, didn't have them. Faunus only started to appear with horns during the Hellenistic age (beginning roughly in the 4th century BCE) as the upper tiers of Roman society began integrating Greek culture into their own. Thus Faunus merged with Pan and Faunus sprouted horns.

What historical era is said creature from?;;

Fauns are most closely associated with ancient Greece, a rough collection of independent, Bronze-age city-states scattered throughout the Greek mainland - like Athens- and the southern Peloponnese - like Sparta. It was more-or-less self-sufficient from the 8th century BCE to the mid-second century BC, at which point it became a Roman Provence. Of course when most people think of Greece they think of Athens during the Classical Age. That is to say, a small 200 year slice of time lasting from the fifth to the fourth century BCE. In contrast, Fauns have been around much longer. ((Will double-check dates once I find my blasted notebook...))

What statue do you think he represents?;;

Reclining Pan, perhaps? The horns are a bit different, but the Marble seems to have a similar texture. <3
