At night she: Night is no time for sleeping. It is a time to be alone with your thoughts, to relinquish the worries and stresses of the day, to wander in peace with nothing but you and your mind. It is simply too precious of a time to waste, and Nettle feels she must take advantage of this time as often as she can. At night she: is rarely sleeping. Lou is plagued by nightmares of her mother's death and father's abandonment. It helps hide the bags under her eyes and the scars on her body.

At night she: Maleficent is found in a cave, all alone, in a darkened forest. The trees are all an ashen color from a recent wild fire, and the bark is cracked and scared. While other equids fear going into the wasteland that was once a forest, Maleficent calls this forest home, it reminds her of her childhood times with her mother in this forest. And while she sleeps the loneliness does get to her, but when she sleeps in the cave it feels like shes a child and curled up next to her mother all over again. She would trade this time for nothing.

At night she: Lahja often likes to curl up under her favorite willow tree, which she suspects to be over one hundred years old, and fall asleep while watching the fireflies. They light up the dark and starry night around her, and the calming way their glow lights up and back down again gives Lahja a sense of security. Lahja has always been fascinated with them, and when she discovered late one night that the fireflies danced around when it got dark, she made it a routine to stay up long enough to watch them. Others are curious as to how she can even get to sleep due to the noise the branches make when the wind makes them sway, but to Lahja, it only adds to the feeling of being safe.

Together they all nest, Starla safe and secure in a nest made of bundled various grasses, twigs, leaves, and cloth she gathered from around the house and land. She takes great comfort from their company, saddened when morning comes and she must soon set off for home once more, though knowing that just as soon she would return to her feathery friends.
