Otaka is a nerd with with a bad habit of watching anime, reading manga and drawing, He normal stays in his room doing this for days at a time, until, someone distracts him, then he realizes he needs to got outside more and maybe not stare at a screen for 4 days straight. Another Thing he often ponders about what he can do Other than being in a closed room, He chooses to go to the store and buy food and other important supply's.

Otaka is actually a orphan from Japan who was adopted by a elderly American couple, soon-ly after Getting their new child they named him Hiro/Hero, like the protagonist from the resent movie Hero 6. Otaka's real parents were killed during a tsunami when they were hanging near the coast of Japan, at the time Otaka was back at their home with a baby-sitter watching some childrens program. He doesn't remember his parents nor the baby-sitter that gave him to the orphanage, but to him, he rather be someone with a story than a boring kid, it makes him think that he is going to be a protagonist of a story soon.

While he was growing up with his new foster parents in his home town, there was another tragic event, His adopted father passed away from a cancer that was growing in his Small intestine. Otaka's adopted mother was grief stricken and emotionally unstable, She called up her friend back in the USA and shortly after Otaka and his Mother went to the airport to go to the land of the free. Otaka was only 7 when His father died and when he moved to a new country.
