Verdigris (Vurr•de•gree) from Greek 'Vert de Grece' — 'green of Greece'
‘The common name for a green pigment traditionally used by painters, or the natural green patina (tarnish) formed when copper, brass or bronze is weathered and exposed to air or seawater over a period of time.’
Verdigris is an amazing natural phenomenon I've always been rather obsessed with. I chose this as her first name because, mainly, of her colours. They reminded me of a famous statue in my country that I visited recently, the controversial Verity (my own photo). She is the tallest statue in Britain, and stands on a quayside looking out to sea with sword raised. Of course, Verity is mainly made of bronze. She was not green when she was installed, it's simply verdigris. But in my opinion, it's strikingly beautiful, and the fact that the forces of nature themselves have turned a colossal work of art such as Verity this gorgeous colour only cemented my love for this process.
This Kiamara herself hates her first name as she believes it gives the impression that she can easily be swayed or manipulated by others to change for their sakes, just as the water and wind can change once bright bronze to tarnished green.

'One of the four cardinal compass points; the polar opposite of North.'
North is the direction navigated by, east the direction the sun rises and west the direction the sun sets. Where does that leave South, but the opposite of North? I chose this because I felt it represented how her colours are all on the cool side, and also because I wanted the second part of her name to be a fixed concept or point, resisting change, but also correspond to nature and tie in with her first. The fact that Verity is in the South of England helped me decide, but I also see South as advocating the idea of taking your own path, not navigating by the usual compass point. As part of various pagan religions, South as a direction was connected with strong will, fitting my idea well.
This name was one she chose herself, showing her as a fixed point, a fundamental concept that cannot be changed, unlike her first. It's also the cardinal direction spiritually associated with fire, the polar opposite of the water connotation of her first name just as South is the polar opposite of North. She thinks it balances her name out well, with the first showing her ability to go with the flow of life as the second shows how she can hold her ground and make her own decisions.

Solomon first and foremost is named after the Solomon Islands; as my first distinct impression was that his palette was like that of the sea, and as such reminded me of the beautiful Solomon Islands I visited last year; its golden palm fringed beaches, blue waters, magnificent coral reefs and an amazing sea life. The Solomon Islands are famous for diving, something I imagined this Kia would enjoy. Beautiful coral reefs and colorful fish passing under the waters of the Solomon Islands. The beauty of this island nautical like buried treasure in the ocean.Solomon also means "peace" in Hebrew, which also seemed to suit the palette; cool and calm- A peace bringer. Solomon is also renowned as extremely wise. His nickname "Solo" is not only a shortening of the name Solomon but a representation of his yearning to make friends and stop being so isolated, or going solo.

This character has nothing to do with why I chose the name, though I could see this gorgeous kia sharing a similar persona. She is extremely intelligent and pretty amazing with computers and hacking and all that. I could see this kia being a cute little IT girl, having all this technological intelligence that surpasses that title. An expert in hacking and finding pretty much anything you want through the use of technology. Though the name is shared by herself and this character and I feel the personalities would be very similar, as I said that's not why I chose this name. Felicity is a name I just love the sound of. I look at this Kiamara and that's the name that comes to mind. It just.. clicks with me. I don't know how to explain it. I personally feel this is just the perfect name for this beautiful Kiamara.
