Piece from Movement: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:The_Course_of_Empire_The_Savage_State_Thomas_Cole_1836.jpeg
What do you like about the piece?:I like the fact that it "captures" the beauty and elegance in the mountian and in nature itself. I also love how much it shows a green forest on one side and then in the distance it shows a desert cliff. It is just beautiful!

Equid Name: Macchiaioli {i regret nothing}

Art Movement Name: Macchiaioli
Something about your chosen Art Movement: From Musée d'Orsay-
"The Macchiaioli were a group of rebellious artists working in Florence in the mid 1855s, mainly from Tuscany but also from other parts of the country from Venice to Naples.
Who were these Macchiaioli with their untranslatable nickname? “Tachistes”, from the French term for "stain" or "blot", was a pejorative label that appeared in the press in 1862 and which they then adopted. They brought a breath of fresh air into Italian painting, breaking with the prevailing Neoclassicism and Romanticism, and reviving Italy's pictorial culture. They were regarded as the initiators of modern Italian painting."
Piece from Movement: leedle lee
What do you like about the piece?: I love how it shows the realism of the Macchiaioli movement, yet shows so much humor. The art is truly Italian and very well painted, and {//bigjokeroverhere} I really appreciate the good nature of these Italian artists. {//alsoItalian}

Art Movement Name: Post-impressionism
Something about your chosen Art Movement: A 20th-century European art movement that stresses the expression of emotion and the inner vision of the artist rather than the exact representation of nature. Distorted lines and shapes and exaggerated colors are used for emotional impact. Vincent Van Gogh is regarded as the precursor of this movement.
{Glossary of Art Movements}
Piece from Movement: http://totallyhistory.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/The_Scream.jpg I went for the more popular or more well known piece. The Scream
What do you like about the piece?: Personally, I like the idea behind the entire movement itself. It was a time when the painter didn't feel the need to follow strict boundaries regarding their artwork. It was a time where they felt the freedom of expression, being able to truly pour their heart and soul into a piece and the only person they had to satisfy was themselves. I enjoy this particular piece because of the way 'the scream' stands out against his background. The world around him is bright and vivid, almost dream like with its contrasting colors and its swirls and waves. And then there he is, so dark and out of place. It's almost as though he doesn't fit yet without him, the piece wouldn't be complete.

Art Movement Name: Romanticism

Something about your chosen Art Movement:
The german Romanticism started approximately 1790 and finished near 1850. The main Focus of this art movement had been every mystical and supernatural thing, Feelings and instinct. Devotee of the romanticism arn`t interested into science and Facts, they belive into god, devil, demon, angel and much more things. Their thinking and acting had been leaded by there fealings and instinct. This kind of Expression can also be found in romantic art. They are paying Tribute to the nature, the night and to the Fantasy.

Piece from Movement: "Mondlicht - Pod Budjan"

What do you like about the piece?: I just love this art movement, because of their Intention. Particularly every Kind of moonlight Pictures. I adore the night and the soft silver light of the Moon. The night is silent and dark, not loud and dazzling like the day. This pices got something like a reassuring effact at me. Aslo the night got something mystical. You can`t see that much and you have to trust each of your senses except your eyesight. You kann coole down from a hard and stressful day.

(so sorry for orthography, i used Google translater, cause i think you wouldn`t understand german x.x )

Art Movement Name: Pointillism.
Something about your chosen Art Movement: Pointillism is where the artist uses tiny dots in order to create a picture. It is also used by some printers.
Piece from Movement: Here.
What do you like about the piece?: I love all of the details, and how complete the picture looks. It's just amazing to look at that and think, "Wow, somebody had the patience to form thousands of tiny dots into that?!"

Equid Name: Braque. Yes, I dare. c;

Art Movement Name: Violin and Candlestick , by George Braque.
Something about your chosen Art Movement: Painted with oil around 1910.
Piece from Movement: link
What do you like about the piece?: He uses Earthly calm colors so the painting is not stressed out as much. The colors we see are of different shades, some get darker while others get lighter. For example the blue in the center is darker than the blue used for the left top corner. This has an effect on the painting so it bases the focal point on the center of the painting. Yet we can still see a violin on the left corner and a candle stick in the middle. This is the purpose of his cubism era where him and Pablo Picasso transformed their art work from prospective and having objects stand out into flat, overlapped objects drawn in different places for a different effect. The lines in the piece are rather sharp. They give an effect that is also mainly concentrated in the middle so it catches the viewer’s eye, allowing them to recognize the focal point of the piece and see the different parts, in this case the violin and candlestick. This piece is different than what people were used to seeing during the 1900's therefore it might have not been appreciated as much because people may not understand the purpose of it. Some still don't. I love this piece, personally. We studied it in my art clase. <3

Art Movement Name: Baroque
Something about your chosen Art Movement: is a period of artistic style that used exaggerated motion and clear, easily interpreted detail to produce drama, tension, exuberance, and grandeur in sculpture, painting, architecture, literature, dance, and music. The style began around 1600 in Rome, Italy and spread to most of Europe.The popularity and success of the Baroque style was encouraged by the Roman Catholic Church, which had decided at the time of the Council of Trent, in response to the Protestant Reformation, that the arts should communicate religious themes in direct and emotional involvement. The aristocracy also saw the dramatic style of Baroque architecture and art as a means of impressing visitors and expressing triumph, power and control. Baroque palaces are built around an entrance of courts, grand staircases and reception rooms of sequentially increasing opulence.

Piece from Movement: Trevi Fountain

What do you like about the piece?: I've always had a thing for this fountain and it matched up with my love for the greek gods so when I found this fountain I always wanted to go there. I love this piece because of the detail it holds, every time I look at it I find something new and I fall in love with it even more. I also love it for the meaning it holds, and finally the greek gods that sit above the fountain for lifetimes to come. I know this may suck as a explanation but the fountain is so breathtaking that you can't really describe it in words because the words just are too dull for its beauty. I just can't pick anything I don't like about this piece, I just love it all.

Height: 12.3 hh
Gender: Stallion

Art Movement Name: Steampunk
Something about your chosen Art Movement: Steampunk emphasizes a balance between form and function. It distorts the line between tool and decoration. Polished brass, iron, and copper were popular materials used in the steampunk era, and the colors of this equid represent all three materials! The different shades of grey portray the iron, while the warm colors represent the brass and copper!
Piece from Movement: Backdrop for Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
What do you like about the piece?: This piece is a painted backdrop from Disney's film of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was a prominent part of the steampunk era, some even say it created the steampunk era! This painting depicts The Nautilus, which is the ship piloted by Captain Nemo in the novel and film. The Nautilus, in this piece, displays the different types of features that are seen throughout the steampunk era. Science fiction was also a large part of the steampunk era, and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is a perfect example of science fiction with highlights of steam-powered machinery. The colors in this piece are eye catching, and who doesn't love a good piece of Disney artwork!
