Daron is a name with Gaelic and English origins, the farthese of it's origins is Greek, this name was chosen out for his appearance, before I knew it's meaning. Though the meaning for his name, "Great" or "Gift", makes it so much more appealing, and amusing to his appearance. But it's not just... "Daron".
With more research I found out that Daron... well, not exactly Daron but Darôn. It is the capital city of Muş, a province in Turkey. Daron and Muş hold a lot of tresures themselves; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dar%C3%B4n , things like Madder used for making dye, wheat, and the oddest you mite find salt mines. I know it seams stupid but his appearance reminds me of this city, from the Madder and dye the brightness lines to his otherwise mellow color to the small light flecks on his body, like lights or salt sprinkled around.

the name is pronounced "Do-r-gho-oon", the "g" is a silent and adds to the strength of the "h", the sound coming from the top of your mouth, though farther back, in the upper part of your throat. It is closest to the "gh" nose at the end of "augh" but slightly more announciated. And though it could be said with accents this is the correct pronounciation, my family is of Turkish descent and this is how the word would be pronounced if you were to ask a Turk, as they'd understand the mark over top of the O and the sound the pronounciation would make.

WHY THAT NAME?: West... Despite his bame, has the utter most complicated issues when given directions. He just can NEVER find his way. As far as why he was nicknamed West, he would never remember the four points. So, he took it upon himself to name himself a direction to try and remember. West isn't his real name, but at this point he has forgotten his original name.

WHY THAT NAME?:
The name Araumi literally means riptide in Japanese.
Ara has always had a fascination with the ocean, much like all Makoatls, but his doesn't lie with the beautiful creatures that populate it's depths, but with its deadly risks. Currents can pull anyone deeper into the water and, no matter how hard they fight it, they will always lose. Exhaustion will creep into their limbs as they fight for their life and panic pounds at their brain from all the seawater they swallow when gasping for air, but it only prolongs the inevitable. Of course, Ara himself has nothing to worry about since he was born to live in water, but he has witnessed many non-water beings be pulled under the surface of the water and it sends a cold thrill down his spine every time he witnesses it occur. Ara loves how something no one can see can end so many lives prematurely. It reminds him of himself because, no matter how hard to try to escape, when you're trapped by him, you can't get away.

He was born as the only survivor of triplets, earning him the name Bao, meaning "precious treasure"; this is quite ironic considering his markings look like the map to hidden treasure.
"Longshot" ~

Despite his efforts, he's always been the underdog of not only pillaging, but everything, earning him the nickname "Longshot".
Bellamy ~

This is the surname of Samuel Bellamy, a pirate in the 18th century. I chose the name because 1.) it was the surname of a pirate and 2.) I personally loved how it went with his first name, so it stuck.

Well you know the movies Pirates of the Caribbean and Treasure Planet? I just put two and two together here (from both of my favorite movies!) and called her that because honestly with her markings she reminds me of the map and the main character of Treasure planet, Jim and Jack Sparrow. I felt like it fit and was a combination of them both.
