username: Hello! I'm ɾïṿεṉḋεll, but please feel free to abandon those symbols for rivendell or riv c:
kia name: Meet the lovely Aequor.
meaning: To be honest, I've quite forgotten which language Aequor comes from, nor can I remember what it means in English. However, I still find it to be a pleasing jumble of letters with an oceanic meaning. Truthfully, I believe that it does suit this lovely little lady.
gender: Aequor is non other than a female, a girl, a lady.
story: Unfortunate that a creature so akin to the sea was ripped away from it at so early an age. It seems as if they were made for each other, the water and Aequor. Two halves of the same whole, however far away they got. Instead of growing and learning where she was meant to be, the Kiamara child was sent away to a farm far inland. There she learned to find new growth in the earth. After a few years of working the fields and taking care of herself and the farm, Aequor was again ripped away from her life. This time, she was aware of what was happening. Men in suits and sunglasses barged into her room one night, and pulled her up into a car gently but forcefully. Drugged with sleep, Aequor didn't respond to the men, nor the woman who spoke to her in a clipped tone. Within the first ten minutes of the drive, the young Kiamara fell fast asleep, head against the door. When she woke again, something felt very off.
"Eurgh," came the feminine voice. A blue-furred head rose from the sand, bright eyes blinking in the heavy sunlight. The blood rushing in Aequor's ears made her nervous, what was wrong with her? Her head pounded, and she was having trouble finding which way was up when the waves rolled in. They were warm and kind, caressing her tired feet. Rejuvenated by this sudden realization, Aequor realized that it wasn't her blood that was roaring, it was the sea. The sea! Aequor turned around, the sand at her paws shifting without warning. She stumbled, and the sea gurgled up around her feet as if to make sure she was alright. There was only one thing to do. Laughing and smiling, Aequor waded out into the water. It chortled happily and pulled her gently, inviting her to see the wonders of the water. All her life, Aequor had been kept away from it. Just what she needed, after years of separation. Then there was no sand beneath her paws, a drop off! Gasping in surprise, Aequor went under. She sucked in water, and flailed about. By a miracle of buoyancy, she managed to get her head above water for a few seconds to spit out the water and bring air into her tired lungs. How was it that a creature of the sea could not swim? Ashamed, Aequor let the waves push her back to shore, where she sat coughing water out onto the sand. The sea swirled around her, consoling. But Aequor wasn't going to give up that easily. No, she pushed past the resisting waters back again, letting her instincts take over. Paddling furiously, Aequor struggled to keep her head up, but she did it. A group of small goldfish flashed past, scales glittering in the water. Curious, Aequor took a deep breath and stuck her head under.
The sea was a whole other world when your head was under the waves. One of the fish, white with bright orange patches and dots turned around to peer at her with liquidy brown eyes. Aequor peered back, twitching her paws so she wouldn't sink. The rest of the fish continued to swim away, but Aequor and the little orange on swam together. The sea routinely sent Aequor air bubbles so that she could stay longer. The goldfish, who Aequor soon called Nico, went through the shallows, playing with the other fish, eels, crabs and urchins living in the reef. This went on for a good few months, every night Aequor would rest on the beach with the ocean crashing in her ears.
One day, the sea didn't crash, it roared angrily. The wind howled, and the clouds growled. Aequor tried to rush into the water, but the sea hit her square in the chest with a wave, sending her flying back into the beach. Retreating into the forest that sat in the middle of their island, Aequor looked for a way to get to the water. It looked as if the sea and sky were fighting, and the sea was losing. The wind was pushing her other half around as if it was nothing. Frantic, she spotted the cliffs that overhung the water. Although the highest one was easily fifty feet above the water, Aequor knew that it was over the drop off. Although her chest still hurt, she pulled herself together and ran under the shelter of the trees to the cliffs. Using her claws, Aequor clambered up the cold, slippery rock. Once at the top, she took a few minutes to catch her breath.
There was no point in delaying any longer, she had to be with the sea for them to win. Bracing herself, Aequor ran along the length of the cliff, pushing herself off at the very end. Falling was peaceful, her front paws stretched in front of her to split the water. Ten feet before she hit, Aequor took a deep breath and squeezed her eyes shut. All she registered was pain, a splitting pain behind her ears and in her wrists. Caught off-guard, Aequor let a small stream of bubbles out of her mouth. Blackness invaded her vision, and the last that she registered was Nico swimming up to her and tugging on her ear frantically.
The sea felt Aequor crash into it, and it felt her paw break. Fear struck it, and it fought back with the sky with renewed energy. Lightning flashed, and the sea sent Aequor flying onto the shore. If she was still in his clutches, she would die. He could not care for her and fight at the same time. After hours of combat, the sky began to weaken, and the sea took the opportunity to make sure Aequor was alive. She was, but barely. And then, the sea knew no more as the sky struck him down.
And the connection between the two kept them alive. They shared thoughts, their minds were one that worked together. The two halves of the same whole came together. The sky left them to themselves, and they assured that they weren't dead. Aequor was in pain, and the sea was wounded, so they healed together. And they were one, as it was meant to be.
