(So pretty!)
Your Name: G.L'S
Horse's Name: Madame Butterfly. Nickname: Saigona
Height:14.2hh
Gender: female
Story/Legend/Myth:
I announce to you, Madame Butterfly!
I remeber these words from my youngest years when I was just a young filly. My father was the proudest in the land when I was born and everywhere I went with him, I was met with pomp and fanfare just like him. Everyone adored us and showed us respect, awe and adornment. I was a celebrity and I was loved.
But one day, that changed when a rival stallion intruded on our land and challenged my father for power. Though the young imp lost to my sire, he never forgot the mental and physical scars that was left of the battle. My family was shaken but we knew we were safe once again...or so we thought.
One night as we slept, the rogue returned to avenge the battle he had lost and ransacked us. He snaked myself and some younger mares away knowing we were prized amongst our family but that we wouldn't fight him back. Amongst them, I was his prize; eventually I became his main focus and he abandoned the others to just take me in: the lead and his nemesis' daughter. He cherished me but also took his anger out on me. It still pains me to think of my younger years with him. Thankfully, he was killed in an unsuccessful ambush, setting me free once again. Though now I'm alone and lost without guidance or protection. All I wasnt is to be loved again...

Postby Ralonica » Thu Nov 15, 2012 8:35 am

Your Name: Ralonica
Horse's Name: Sethyr (Seth - eer), called Yalazi (Yall - ah - zee) by men.
Height: 15 hh
Gender: Mare
Story/Legend/Myth:
The children huddled by the campfire, sitting in a squashed group to keep warm, as the embers flickered up into the sky, lighting up the cold, dark night. A cold chill had settled on the small village, but the Shaman's words and stories were worth a little discomfort to hear. The Shaman raised his head, and the low whispering around him died away, as everyone instantly wanted to hear his words. The Shaman smiled, a small, shrivelled smile, and began to speak in a croaky voice, and all ears leant towards him to hear his crackling words.

"Of all the Mustangs." The Shaman began. "Of all the Mustangs and the long-haired rain-bringers, there is one who you should fear. While the others bring rain and good fortune, there is one, who gives greatly, but takes away even greater. And that is Yalazi, the Deciever. A mare, strange, and beautiful, but terrible as well. Short in stature, but do not let that mislead you. For when she comes... she gives great gifts, great fortune. But that only last a time and a half of a time - that will be followed by horrible, horrible misfortune, taking away the gifts she sneeringly gave you, and replacing them with sour things to rot in your hands. For you may find that the great rains Yalazi gives to you will dissapear quickly, leaving the sprouting crops to wither and die just after they have reached their prime. But those rains may also have grown the jackals, growing animals like the crops, so that the many jackals will come, taking child from it's mother, killing man while he sleeps."

A hush went over the campfire. A small child began to weep. But the Shaman held up his hand, and began to speak once more. "Many do not know from which accursed sire or dam that Yalazi was born from. But I have listened, I have heard. The Deciever came, many moons, many seasons ago. A shrivelled, crippled mare, doomed from the day she was born, and a stallion, white, purer than light itself, came together, on the night the moon was at it's fullest. The stallion rose to kill the stunted mare, but she quailed and begged him to spare her. So she made a vow, that if she could bear the stallion a foal, as beautiful - or more beautiful - than himself, she would be allowed to live. So the stallion agreed, and held her to her vow. So it came to be, that many nights later, when the moon was absent from the sky, the foal was born. With a coat blacker than night, but with white on her body - a shining light, purer than light itself. But she was small like her mother, however, she held in herself such magnificence as her father bore. Her father saw her, and despared, for she was beautiful, but terrible. So, on the day that he saw her, her sire rose up, and destroyed her dam. Yalanazi saw her die, and her mother's blood sprayed onto her coat, dark red, and it stained her coat forever. And if it be by some miracle or some dark magic, she survived without a mother, only to torment the deserts with her deceptions." The Shaman looked up, and all was silent. The camp fire flickered, and scared children looked at eachother through the darkness. And far away, a horse neighed. It could only be the terrible winny of Yalazi...

Note: I hope that it's alright that she has 'two names' in a sense. One is her real name, the other is the name men give her. I thought it suited the legend... if you don't like it, I can change it. <3 And I'm sorry that the paragraphs are so long... XD

Saw nothing about form editing, so just so I don't forget later;

Your Name: ~*Oddly Shaded*~
Horse's Name: Regal Brumby
Height: 17.3hh
Gender: Female
Story/Legend/Myth: A magnificent speciemen roming Australia. It's fantastic colouration, wild behaviour and grace as it runs. These are not only horses of the aussie outback, but magical beasts. & now you will be given the insight.

Driving along the highway, Dad has his windows wide open and the music softly paying as he and mum spoke about the trip. The baren road, hot as it may seem, but winding forever through the bushland. I was only young. A little dumpling as my mum told me. Young, and hopeful, waiting to see what lay ahead of me. Dad & mum decided it was time to swap driving shifts and me and my brother poked our heads to the glass and watched desperatly out the window, peering into the bush and scrub. We'd heard there were many kangeroo's and emu's out this way. But even though none were there, we continued to search through the broken trees and barbed fences. Mum jumped into the drivers seat and buckled up, moving the seat from dads far back position to a closer one. She noticed something rustling infront of the car, quite a far way away. Pulling off the hand break she slowly rolled the car forward, quitely and slowly sneaking up on the movement ahead. Me and my brother swung around from the tree line beside us to the road ahead to see hundreds of wild horses. Hundreds of Brumbies galivanting across the dry road ahead. Bay ones, grey ones, black ones too! And a few gorgeous foals rearing, bucking and playing as they moved. My eyes must have lite up with a glowing heart as I watched them. Mum looked back and gave me that 'Oh your so precious' look, while dad sat and watched with me and my brother. They were amazing, and beautiful and spectacular. So free and wild, but so fasinating and graceful. So dirty and muddy, but strong. They were simply beautiful and my heart dropped as the last of them trotted across the road and a foal looking lost stumbled out. She was so cute. A real rarity. Her coat a mixture of sorrel and black and her mane as silver it could be. It tripped over its heels before rolling and bounding to it's feet and lankily galloping off after the herd. Thought it was only a few seconds, it felt like I knew that foal. It felt like years we'd been together. But I knew that wasn't the last time i'd see her. It was only the beginning.

Your Name: Chasing Dreams
Horse's Name: Rhea
Height: 15 hands
Gender: Female

In the darkest part of the desert you see a quick flash. Sand stirring up around your feet, they turn into hissing rattle snakes. It's believed that Rhea is the reincarnation of the Serpent Goddess worshiped by the Hebrews. Rhea's coat color's reflect how the snake sheds it's skin and it's renewed to a "new body." Rhea is believed to protect the southern oasis filled with snakes, it's called Serpents Pride.

Some think that she can control the souls and minds of snakes, willing them to do as she pleases. Rhea uses her godly powers for evil. She destroys any trespassers by forcing her snake minions to bite them to death, injecting the victim with their syrupy venom. Some even believe that she has her own venom that causes the skin to boil and melt.

Your Name: wildhorse027
Horse's Name: Arien
Height: 17hh
Gender: Stallion
Story/Legend/Myth:

They say this young Stallion was born in a life of fear. Fear of being taken, taken by the humans. There were stories many years ago of a group of foolish people who had seen magnificent creatures who were rare and just about known of.These foolish people tried capturing these horses and ended up killing some in the process, one of these horses, were Arien's mother. They said that from that day Arien was seeking revenge. Reports of a strangely coloured horse were travelling about the villages of a horse that was a carnivore and one that demolished all in it's way, a horse that could just touch you and bring you to your death.

Later a group of strong men captured the horse known as Arien. They chained him up and kept him un-mobile. It was a lonely and sorrowful life for the horse, who was sweet by day and a monster by night. After many weeks of little food and water this horse became angered and this stiffened his heart. The next morning a man came to give Arien his little ration of food to find that Arien was gone, he had broken the chains...
This made fear grow in the village and nearby villages. But soon, they heard chains dragging across the concrete and soon heard a scream. They went to find that a woman was missing... never to return..

So from that day the villagers fear the name 'Arien' whom they also called 'Voo Doo'. If chains were ever heard these people would fear that death would shortly follow, but they all sincerely hoped that he had returned to his rightful place in the desert...

Postby Scarlip » Thu Nov 15, 2012 10:53 am

Your Name: BlackJack
Horse's Name: Bashkim (see legend below for meaning ^^)
Height: 17 hh
Gender: Stallion
Story/Legend/Myth:

Sometimes, the Bedouins, at least those who believe in the existence of DAMs, tell an old legend. It is about a young DAM stallion that has never been proven to exist, but some of the presbyters say that they have seen him with their own eyes. The legend says that said young stallion, who is called "Bashkim", an albanian name meaning "union" or "alliance", has talked himself to the mighty ancestors. He was born as a silver sorrel with only a few minimal appaloosa spots, while his older brother Kismet was a black blanket. As a foal, he would love to accompany his brother travelling the dunes, frolicking and playing around with him. One time, the legend says, his brother wanted him to stay with the herd because he was going to travel far, for days. Too far for a young foal like Bashkim. However, Bashkim wanted to go with him badly so he followed him secretly. When he caught up to Kismet he couldn't be mad at him for long, and they started to tussle a bit, playfully of course. And suddenly, as they gallopped across a high dune, the worst thing happened: When Kismet reared up in joy, he lost balance and fell backwards, and slid down the backside of the dune. Fate had placed a single rock near the dune's foot, and as Kismet fell, his head hit it. Even though Bashkim dashed down the dune, through the hot desert sand, so fast that he nearly fell himself, there was nothing he could do for his brother. Kismet had left him, forever.

~

The legend says that he begged the gods, the allmighty ancestors, for help, crying, knowing that he was the one responsible for his brother's doom as he had not obeyed him. He spent days next to his dead brother, crying day and night, and when he was close to dying himself from thirst, hunger and the hot burning desert sun, the ancestors showed mercy. When he was in the state between life and death, he suddenly felt like he was standing on his legs, he heard a voice talking to him, even though he only saw light and nothing else. The voice asked him why he was here, that he was too young to stand on the path of light that leads to heaven, it told him to go back and live. But Bashkim answered that he is not worthy of living, that he deserves death because he brought death to his own brother. The voice told him to turn back and live in rememberance of his brother. But Bashkim begged the voice to let him go to heaven and let his brother go back and live in return. The voice responded that nobody can return from heaven, and the foal started to cry and beg in such a pitiful way that the voice agreed to a compromise: Kismet would live on, but without Bashkim being taken in return for him, and not within his own body. Instead he would live on within Bashkim, as a part of him, and Bashkim, being desperate for a way to make his brother live again, agreed. The next moment he felt like falling, the light that had been surrounding him was fading as he heard a thousand voices talking in strange languages.

~

As Bashkim woke up, he didn't feel hungry or thirsty anymore, and looking around, he noticed that his brother's body was gone. The only thing surrounding him was the endless amount of sand and the hot sunlight. Feeling confused and weird but not as empty as before, thinking that it had all been a dream, an illusion, he started to travel back towards his herd. On his way back, he wished so badly for his brother being there, and suddenly he heard the voice of Kismet inside his head, telling him to go to a nearby oasis. He thought that the desert sun was making him go insane but still, after a while, he went. And when he reached the oasis and walked towards the water pond to drink, stepping into the water, he couldn't believe his eyes when he saw his reflection: His coat was a mixture of his own physical appearance and his brother's coat. The ancestor he had talked to had spoken quite literally. The legend says that from that day on, Kismet didn't only live on in Bashkim's appearance, but also in his mind. Whenever Bashkim needed help, advice, shelter, or just wished for his beloved brother being there, he was able to talk to him in his thoughts. And that is how the meaning of Bashkim's name was fulfilled.

~

Whether the legend is true or not, nobody knows it really - but what do you think?

Postby Bast-et » Thu Nov 15, 2012 12:03 pm

Your Name: ~Bast~
Horse's Name: Typhon, the Father of all Monsters, including his daughter the chimera in Greek mythology
Height: 17 hh (I wanted him to be big, kinda like Frankenstein's monster was huge)
Gender: Stallion
Story/Legend/Myth:

You are pushing your way through the crowded market streets of the small outlander village where your caravan has stopped to trade. The pulsing mood brightens your eyes and dances in the eager people around you; a patch of stillness and shadow catch your attention. And old woman, her skin leathered like hide from life in the desert crooks one wizened finger and pulls you closer as if on a string.
"Come closer and I'll tell you a tale of the two-toned chimera mustang..." Her mouth spread in a gap toothed smile, and the promise of a story held you enthralled as she began.

"As dark as night and as red as blood, the chimera horse has two warring sides battling within him for dominance. Two souls counsel his wild mind, and two loves calm his angry heart; Power and Strife. His every action has two reactions, and every thought has two causes. He is a duel creature with both of his selves balanced equally within him. It makes the stallion unpredictable and a creature to be wary of. But dangerous, beautiful creatures have an allure and a power over men. Typhon, for that is the stallion's name is no different. His red soul is fierce and possessive; it rules those in it's grasp with a tyrant's fist and calls it love. The love of the red burns hotter than true love and carries none of it's joy. His black soul is pitiless and cruel. It covets beauty to taunt and torture. The pleasure of the black is the atrophy of potential. These twinned souls control the mustang's mind. Two thought's; one red, one black, will battle and one will result in the stallion's action... will it be overbearing love, or smothering hatred?" The old woman's voice is haunting, and the lively scene behind you dims as she drops her voice to a whisper and continues.

And since the dawn when men first saw the duel stallion race across the desert sands they have ached to make the creature theirs. For men don't know the secrets told by the stallion's contrasting coat. But any village he might chance to pass is inflicted with his curse. The villagers will fight and two sides will form, fighting until none remain; for both are balanced and none may win. The Chimera's task is strife where there is happiness, chaos where there is order, feuds where there is peace. With the grace of his long mane and tail, he promises gifts that never appear. Take warning from an old woman glad to have escaped his glance" the woman's gaze bored into yours. "You don't want to meet the dark stallion that races to outpace his splintered mind."

Image
(Fan art for the winner. It illustrates the duel personality though, so I wanted it here too ^^)
