DAM's name: Rinaisu (Isu is his nickname) About the name ; Rin is a Japanese name meaning cold, Aisu is the Japanese word for ice. Pronounced Rin - EYE - su. The u is hardly pronounced.
Gender: Male
Height: 14.3 hh
Rarity: Very Rare
Story: It was a quite freezing winter. Most of the population seems to be under the impression that deserts are always scalding, even in winter. Well, the idea is simply not true. Even during summer, the nights become quite chilly. Now, although it becomes cold, snow is quite a rare thing. Even if it does snow it's usually a quite small amount, although once in many years a large blizzard can occur. No one was prepared for what was to happen, except for myself.

I had been born in a light snowstorm. That's how they say I got my splotched coat; the coloured areas being the places where snow did not hit me. I was quite used to cold and not afraid of it at all. In fact; I enjoyed it. My parents told me how much I played in it when I was young, which is how I gained my name. But anyways, I was prepared. I knew what to do in case of snow. Many others did not.

The snowstorm hit the desert quite hard. Two feet of snow caressed the unwilling ground, freezing the irritated plants and making quite a few unhappy animals starve. The entire desert had a sense of dread, sadness, and sorrow. I was overjoyed myself, though. I hadn't paid much attention to those suffering, I was always making a grand time of the situation. That was until I saw the first death. A coyote dropped in front of me, simply giving up. I could tell that death was in his eyes and strangling his soul, so I left him. I did not want death to start chasing me.

I was unsure of what to do next. Animals were unhappy and the snow was lasting. It stopped for two days once, and the desert started to rejoice. The next day it started again. This day was the worst. Snow came in at all angles, the storm was awful and blinding and deafening with its silence. I could hardly see a thing, I simply hoped to put my feet in the correct place. This snow was no longer fun. This snow was death.

I was wandering towards my normal home when I almost stepped on it. It was a hare, and a small one at that. It shivered miserably in the cold. It was solitary, there was no such mother to be found around it. It was an obvious thought that I could not leave the shivering thing exposed and lonely, so I took action. I reached down my mouth to gently lift the creature. The young animal was obviously too cold to move; it gave me no resistance when I picked it up. It was a quite difficult action to keep the thing steady in my mouth without clamping down. Unsure of what to do next, I simply found a place under a cactus to wait, held the creature under my warm mane, and listened as his shivering stopped. The storm ended a couple hours later.

It was not a very difficult task to find the mother of the small hare. I only had to go back to the place I found the shivering sadness, she was already waiting and looking with anxiety. Her face twisted with joy as I returned the baby to her. The little hare gave my muzzle a quick nudge before scampering to its mother, who gave me a grateful look. I felt a strange sort of kind pride as they hopped off to their underground home, happy and together once more. I was a simple hero, and although I had not saved the entire desert, I felt like I was useful in a way.

The snow did not come back.

DAM's name: Cavalia's Pride
Gender: Dam
Height: 14.3 hh
Rarity: Very Rare
Story: Pride is a purebred Arabian owned by Cleopatra Queen of Egypt. It used to be this way though. Her parents had escaped a horse breeder and had run wild for years before giving birth to her. Pride grew up knowing nothing but freedom. A few humans tried to capture her but none were able to keep hold of her very long. One day Cleopatra was out riding without her guards when she was attacked by a pack of wild dogs. Hearing Cleopatra's screams and the barking of the dogs, Pride came running. She chased off the dogs then left Cleopatra. Cleopatra amazed by the braveness and beauty of the wild mare followed her on her own horse. Pride easily escaped them by swimming across the Nile. Cleopatra tried to follow but some crocodiles slipped into the water and scared her horse that threw her. Three crocodiles went after the screaming horse and two went after Cleopatra. Pride once more leapt into the action. She reached the queen first and Cleopatra slipped onto her back. Pride escaped out of the water and they both went looking for Cleopatra's mount. They found it being eaten alive by the crocodiles. Pride seeing Cleopatra had no other way to get home headed for the palace. Once there Pride looked around at all the healthy, well-fed horses and immediately wanted to stay. Cleopatra seeing this put the feisty mare in the stall of her deceased mount which had before been Cleopatra's favorite horse. Now Pride was her favorite and she would forever be so.

cookie had gone off to get some water for the colt she was watching, the colt decided to go have and adventure and wandered off. he didn't know where he was going, so he stumbled upon a scorpion's nest. he had stumbled upon a mother scorpion.

cookie came back to the sink hole where the young ones were put and found the colt missing. she followed the slightly covered horse tracks and found him looking at the mother scorpion. cookie galloped over and nearly hit the scorpion.

the mother was so startled her jumped back into her nest, cowering from the young horse. the colt was shaking so hard cookie just had to nod her head to the colt for him to bolt to his mother.

Owner: Running in the Rain
DAM's name: Diabla
Gender: mare
Height: 14.3 hh
Rarity: Very Rare
Story:
"Wisty!" her mother called from the kitchen window. "Come in now, you'll catch a devil of a cold out there!"
Catch the devil, Wisty mused. Why, I wish I could...
She thought of the beautiful white mare with her long, flowing mane and tail and odd spots. All locals called her El Diabla. They told tales of her in town, how she crept into barns and stole all the grain, or flew through the air on moonlight wings, or even bewitched men into following her and leading them to their doom, falling into chasms in their enchanted stupor. Old poor Hank always said she had stolen his whole herd, too, and that's why he's so poor now. Some of them believed she could control the weather. They blamed her when things went wrong- when their crops failed, when rain didn't come, when a horse died mysteriously. They also blamed her for the odd and mysterious disappearance of Elmer Mackdaw several months ago. Wisty thought it all nonsense, but she could see why they came up with such strange stories. Once, a long time ago, she had caught a glimpse of the white mare running afar off in the wild lands where no one ever went. She did seem to fly on lunar wings, so swiftly did she run. She had thought that the mare looked more like an angel then. Since then she had dreamed of riding the mare, over mountain and moor they would fly on the wings of the wind...
"Wisty!"
The call jolted her out of the reverie. She stood, ousting the dog, Dallin, from his place sprawled over her feet and went into the kitchen, letting the old screen door swing shut behind her.

Wisty lay awake that night, listening to the sounds of the range. She couldn't seem to sleep for thinking about Diabla. She tossed and turned, but sleep would not come. After a long while, she slipped out of bed and dressed quickly and quietly. She crept downstairs, careful to avoid the horribly creaky stair, and closed the screen door quietly behind her. She ran to the stables and grabbed a saddle and bridle. She paused a moment and put the saddle back. She walked down the row of stalls until she came to that of Nala, a golden chestnut mare. She was young and rather skittish, but she didn't mind going out at odd hours. Wisty brought the smallish mare out of her stall, slipping her bridle on, and decided to get up without the mounting block. She had been working on this on Nala, who was rather short, but still it took her several attempts to get up on her back. It was harder without a saddle, but she eventually managed. As soon as she was up, Wisty kicked Nala and they cantered off into the night. They rode down to the ravine, where Wisty knew Diabla sometimes went to run on the thin, shelf-like paths at night. She guided Nala onto the trail nearest the top of the ravine and waited. After a while she set Nala to trotting along the cliffside to look for the white mare.
Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, Wisty saw a flash of white and turned to look. At that very moment, a snake burst out of the brush beside the trail straight at Nala. The golden horse reared and bolted.
All Wisty knew was that the wind was in her hair and she wasn't on a horse anymore. She was falling, falling, towards the trail below near the middle of the cliff. She saw another flash of white as she closed her eyes and braced herself.
Then she landed with a force that knocked every bit of air from her lungs. She couldn't breathe, and black spots danced in her eyes. She lay for a moment, and realized she seemed still to be moving. She raised her head and her mind went blank. It was all she could do to twist so she was sitting on the white spotted mare's back.
They were flying, flying on the wings of the wind and the moon and the night, so fast that nothing, creature or machine, could catch them. The mare ran smoothly, like liquid, and Wisty was not jarred even on the rough, uneven rocks. Wisty's heart was pounding and she was filled with adrenaline. She threw back her head and laughed. She laughed at the night and at death, and at everyone who had ever called this incredible creature a devil. The mare whinnied back, a shrill and musical neigh of pure joy. In that moment, Wisty resolved that no one would ever call this horse El Diabla again. From then on, she would be know as La Luna.

Story
(not set in current time)
Natasha galloped as fast as she could, the cold wind lashing her in the face. She had to keep going, otherwise she would be whipped or tied up without water for days. Natasha didn't want to let her rider down or all her other friends trying their hardest beside her. She was a horse drawn carriage puller and along with her other fellow horses, she had a job to do. They were going to one of the richest person in the lands home to bring her to a party. A few hours before Natasha and the other horses had to be thoroughly brushed and groomed all to perfection but they were used to the pain of everything so they stopped trying to resist but not Natasha, she was determined to resist. She had already gone without food for a few days and was noticeably thinner than the other horses and had whip marks allover her body. It was a miracle she was allowed to go on the job looking like that. They arrived at the scene a few minutes later and picked up Lady Genevieve du Castel de la Riviére who is french and has billions of dollars. The team of 8 horses and 10 people helped her on board the extremely heavy carriage and they set off again after the Lady was all seated.

They reached their final stop a weary hour later and had a drink while Lady Genevieve stepped gracefully out and paid the horsemen then left, aquatinted with her men. Natasha and the others were soon back home in their stables and were off to sleep. They had a big plan, and it was happening tomorrow. Right before they all slept they held a mini meeting, about something they had been talking about for weeks. About breaking out.

The next morning, when the only human they trusted, the groom, came to let them out to pasture, they all charted out and through the open gate. The groom ran after them but there was no chance that the human could catch them. They had reached the outskirts of town by the time the sun set with Natasha and Adrain leading them. They settled down by a creek and stayed there fore the night. The next day no one had seen or heard of them and that group of carriage drawn horses, started a new herd and forever roam free thanks to Natasha and her great plan. There ancestors are galloping around in some fields not far from fear, forever at peace.

DAM's name: Sechura
Gender: Female
Height: 14.3 hh
Rarity: Very Rare
Story:
Sechura’s herd had been experiencing extreme drought. She had been instructed by the lead stallion to scout into the desert in search of water. Most of the younger Mustangs had been sent out, the reason being that that they would deal better with the harsh desert conditions. She was currently tramping slowly through the scorching sand. Even through her tough hooves, she could slightly feel the heat of the sand. She whinnied with desperation, feeling weaker with every step. She saw what she thought was a pool of water and felt an adrenaline rush, beginning to gallop towards it with what last energy she had left. She neared the top of the dune she was climbing and realized it was a mirage. Thoughts of desolation filled her mind. She barely knew where she was anymore. She turned around to search for her hoof prints before realizing that they had been swept away by the ever changing sands. She inhaled deeply, exhaling moments later and snorting. She began to take step back down the dune and that was when her vision began blacking out. She felt her muscles tense up and then relax completely so she had no control over them. The last barely conscious feeling she experienced was the pain of the sand invading her eyes as she tumbled down the sand dune.
When she awakened, she found herself in a lush rainforest. The likes of which she’d never seen. The air was noticeably thicker and more moist, tropical. Her lungs were hungry for such luscious air. She’d only ever sustained herself on the dry, desert air. She stood up shakily and whinnied nervously, as if announcing her presence. She took a few steps forward, noticing a rustle in some bushes ahead of her. She stepped closer to it warily, sniffing it. When she did so, the bush fell silent. A few moments later, a bush about twenty feet up began shaking. She became curious, trotting over near it and flicking her tail. It stopped like it had before, and then reappeared further ahead. This little game continued until she came to a type of clearing. She was looking around, her thoughts going a thousand miles a minute. She was shaken out of her daydream when a rasping voice emanated from a shrine in the hind center of the clearing. She jumped, preparing for flight “Sechura..I’ve been waiting for you.” It told her. Her ears perked at the mention of her name. She came closer enough so that she could see in/on top of the shrine clearly. Perched on it was a small being made completely of liquid. As it shimmered, she could see rainfall. One moment, it was a heavy downpour on a grassy plane. Another moment, it was a cityscape where those human creatures lived, being doused in a light drizzle. It was surely a sight to see, and it daunted her slightly. “Do not be afraid by my appearance...I mean you no harm.” It told her, as if it had read her mind. She was in complete awe, its skin changed every heartbeat and its voice sounded like the clash of thunder “I am the spirit of rain...and I need your help.” It told her. She tilted her head, as if asking ‘How can I help you?’ It gave her a sort of smile. As the light hit its teeth, she saw a maelstrom whipping around. She snorted in disbelief. The spirit chuckled, “My brother, the spirit of drought, has stolen my...power source, lets say.” It explained, pausing a moment and trying to tell her this in a way that she would understand. It put a watery hand to its chin lightly in thought “This is why your Oasis hasn’t been getting any rain..you see, this is a constant game between my brother and I. We always steal each others’ power sources..and when I have mine back, as well as his, the earth gets regular rainfall and will not succumb to drought.” It paused again to cough, the shimmering water dimming momentarily “The longer he has it..the harder it is for me to get it back and the more it taxes my health. Not to mention..the world is going through a drought that could begin to kill millions.” It told her. She snorted once again, stomping her hoof as if to say ‘That is horrible! How can I get it back?’ It nodded solemnly “You must travel through this world..nearly to the end. You must enter his palace and answer a riddle. If you get it correct, he will reward you with the power source. As soon as you touch it, you will be transported back here..it has peculiar powers.” It explained. Sechura nodded slowly ‘How will I get there?’ she thought, sniffing around the shrine. It smelled like fallen rain. She returned her gaze to the spirit’s. It beckoned to something out of sight. Little floating clouds emerged from behind the shrine. Sechura jumped back slightly, surprised. “Do not worry, Sechura. They will guide you to my brother’s palace.” It told her. She looked down at the little storm cloud beings. They made some sort of clicking noise before zooming off into the bush. She sent a glance at the spirit and it waved its little arms at her, as if telling her to follow. She obeyed and listened to the clicking of the clouds, ducking under branches and jumping over some roots.
A lot of thorny bushes were grabbing hold of her long mane, making it difficult to navigate the jungle. They continued like this for at least a few hours. Sechura was getting burned out. She whinnied in exasperation to the clouds. They clicked quickly then circled back to her. They brushed against her face. She felt a coolness spread over her body, a new sense of energy. The creatures seemed urgent so she pushed on. An hour or so later they came to a clearing similar to the rain spirit’s. The dirt became sandy and instead of a simple shrine, a large palace rose from the forest floor. It was nearly taller than the trees. Sechura looked up at it reluctantly, watching the cloud creatures hesitate on the edge of the clearing. A loud thought suddenly entered her head “If we go in there..we’ll evaporate!” It was obviously from the cloud creatures. She nodded, knowing she’d have to go in alone. She went closer slowly, clip-clopping up the steps. When she reached the top, she looked inside to see a large room, only a wall in the back. The rest of the building was held up by gigantic pillars. She continued into the room more, seeing a large throne in the back. A being so much larger than a horse was lounging upon it, rolling some sort of blue orb between its fingers. “Ah!” It boomed. Sechura jumped back, scared. “So you’re the one my brother’s sent!” It laughed, getting up. It walked closer to Sechura and she began to shake “You don’t look like very much!” It exclaimed, fingering some of her mane with its giant fingers “Then again, he chose you for a reason..” It added, looking into her eyes. “Well, are you ready for my riddle?” It asked her in a softer tone. She swallowed nervously, nodding. “What always runs but never walks, often murmurs, never talks, has a bed but never sleeps, has a mouth but never eats?” It rumbled slowly, then repeated for her. She thought for a moment. ‘Always runs..it must be an animal..” She thought, but then thought about the second part ‘It never walks nor eats..’ Sechura was stumped. She then began to think about the rain spirit and if she didn’t get the riddle, it would die. ‘What runs... Water runs as it hits the ground. Gravity..’ She thought, analyzing the next part of the riddle ‘Often murmurs, but never talks.’ She mused, hearing the little cloud beings clicking around outside the palace. It reminded her of a river gurgling. ‘That’s it!’ She thought, bouncing up and down with happiness “I know! I know what it is..” She exclaimed. The first time she had physically talked throughout her whole journey “It’s..it’s a river!” She exclaimed, hope washing through her. The drought spirit began to say “You’re wro-” Sechura’s heart fell to her stomach until the spirit cut itself off. A look of pure amazement washed over its face “You’re..right!” It said, more surprised than Sechura herself. Her eyes grew, gazing at the blue orb in its hands. It looked down longingly at the orb, holding it out to her. She looked down at her hooves, unsure of where to hold it. She finally just reached over and took it gingerly in her teeth. As soon as she came in contact with it, the spirit shrunk to the size of the rain spirit was. The temple shrunk around them and became a small shrine. Sechura nodded a thank you, and then she and the cloud creatures were transported back to the rain spirit’s..shrine..? Now, it was a gigantic castle. Even more large and grandiose than the drought spirit’s. She looked around in awe, the power orb still balanced in her mouth carefully. She proceeded into the palace, seeing a now larger rain spirit lounging on a throne. She bowed in front of it, gently setting the orb in front of it. When the spirit picked it up, it swelled and shimmered. Sechura beamed at the spirit and it smiled back at her “Thank you, Sechura..you’ve saved me, yourself, and your herd. Not to mention countless others that had been suffering around the world.” Sechura was in awe..she didn’t think that her deed would do such good. The spirit and the world around her began to fade away, and she returned to her earthly body. She had been woken up by the feel of rain pounding on her sides. She stood up quickly, blinking sand out of her eyes. One of the herd members was galloping up to her. “Sechura, Sechura!” He whinnied happily “It’s rain! What a miracle!” He said, trotting around her in circles. Sechura smiled, deciding not to tell them of her adventure. “Yes, yes it is.” She replied as they began to walk back to the Oasis, the rain pouring off their manes. Their footprints were washed away in the water almost as quickly as they had been made.

Story:
The leaves swirled up, then danced back down to the ground as the wind blew strands of the boy's sandy blonde hair across his face. The trees were huge, with trunks as big around as small cars. This forest was beautiful, with the autumn colors still lingering before the cold set in and stripped the branches bare. Small critters scampered around, collecting last morsels of food. The boy wandered about, lost in his thoughts. Being only at the age of 6, he didn't realize he strayed so far away from his mother. The path he walked was dangerous, however, despite its beautiful surface. He looked up in amazement, not realizing he was being followed. The boy suddenly stopped, as a rustling in the trees startled him. An owl hooted before flying off, while squirrels scampered up to their homes. He became overwhelmed with fear. He cried out for his mother. The boy spun around and came to face a pair of amber eyes. The creature growled, and the boy ran. He would not be fast enough, as the beast was already on his heels. The boy suddenly stumbled upon a rock, and tumbled down. Down... down... he kept falling. The boy had gone right over a steep drop-off. The creature stopped at the top, looking for a way down. Soon, a whole pack of the creatures gathered. They began following a path that led down to the boy. They reached the bottom, and began circling their dinner. Suddenly, a white mare with a flowing mane erupted from the trees, reared up, and brought her hooves thundering down in front of the unconscious boy. The beasts were frightened for a moment, but hunger overcame fear and they lunged forward. The horse bucked, reared, and snapped at each one. The creatures realized, although in greater numbers, they could not win. The beasts retreated to the trees. The horse snorted and shook her head in triumph. She then turned to the boy. She nudged him, but he didn't stir. She lay down beside him, keeping an eye out for predators. All through the night, she lay there, never leaving his side. At some point in the night, voices from above were heard, running feet, barking dogs. The mare looked at the boy, then slowly stood. She gently nuzzled her nose against his face, then galloped into the trees. As the last flick of her tail disappeared, a bright light shone on the boy. A woman burst into tears and hugged him. The boy was now awake, but dazed.
"Ma-mama?" he whispered.
The humans took the boy to safety, but a few stayed behind. They searched the scene for answers as to how the boy survived. All they found was a single strand of horse hair.

Owner: TheHorseWhisperer
DAM's Full Name: Athanatos (Greek for "Immortal")
Barn Name: Athan
Gender: Stallion
Height: 14.3 hh
Rarity: Very Rare
Story: How I Met Athanatos
It was a cold, dark night, and I was very lonely. It had been two days since my house had been robbed. The burglars had woken us all up on accident. I was the only one, other than the theives, that escaped alive. I had run into a nearby forest. From there I tried to make my way to the town sixteen miles away, but I didn't know which way was which and I soon became hopelessly lost. I sat beside a big boulder, wrapped in my mom's shawl. It was very chilly and windy, and despite all attempts to stay warm I was still rather cold. Wind whistled among the trees and whipped at me gently with its long, icy fingers. A red and orange maple leaf floated down slowly to land softly on the many other autumn leaves that blanketed the dark ground. An owl hooted up above on a bare branch of a forbidding, dead tree. I pulled the shawl closer to me, trying to stay warm. I heard a twig snap nearby. I stood and whirled around to see a wolf. It was snarling and growling, its teeth bared. Beneath the rough, matted fur I could see its ribs. It was obviously a starving, malnourished creature, and so desparate for food that it would attack me. And I would lose any fight that ensued. Suddenly galloping hoofbeats sounded nearby. A beautiful creature burst through the trees, sand flinging up from its hooves, charging straight at the wolf. The magnificent equine chased after the wolf, which had immediatly turned and fled. I knew the equine creature wouldn't return. Why would it? But then I heard more hoofbeats, surprising me once more, growing louder. The gorgeous stallion stopped before me, his warm breath sending clouds of white into the chilly air.
"You saved me..." I murmured.
