Sneak off and explore the carnival!

Feeling a bit lost as far as ride repairing, Korbl decides to sneak off for the day to explore the carnival. He'd been stuck for most of the week helping fix the ride, so he hadn't seen most of what this place had to offer! With the other Chicoons seeming occupied in their own things, he hurries off to explore. Korbl didn't want to bother them...besides, surely a few hours of relaxing would be fine? He thought so!

As he walked through the carnival, the smells of delicious food filled the air making him feel hungry. And no wonder, he realized he was in the middle of a ton of food stands!! There were so many choices, almost too many...but he was quick to find a food stand that looked good and grabbed a snack, he sat down at a picnic table that was setup not too far from the food stand. While snacking on his food, which was a fruit bowl filled with many sweet melons and topped with some berries and seeds, a few pigeons wandered around on the ground. Their coos were too adorable, Korbl tossed them a few seeds from his fruit bowl and watched them as they happily ate them all up! After sharing a yummy snack with the pigeons, Korbl continued his wander around the carnival.

He came across a few game booths, playing a few of them and having a great time! He managed to win one game of ring toss which landed him a prize of a massive whale plushie! He happily hugged the big blue creature as he wandered around some more, watching all the rides move with their bright lights flashing and flickering in pretty patterns. Music and sounds of Chicoons enjoying the carnival filled the air, Korbl couldn't help but smile. This was the first carnival he had ever been to, and the experience was a wonderful one!! As the sky began to darken, the lights became so much brighter and prettier, Korbl watched them in awe.

It made him think of the ride he was tasked to fix, he wondered what it looked like when it was all up and running...oh how pretty it must be! He really hoped he could help get it fixed before the carnival leaves. With that thought, Korbl decides it's time to make his way back to the broken down ride. Although his adventure through the carnival today was amazing, he hoped he'd have another chance to go explore it again!

He passed a cotton candy stand on his path back to the ride, all fresh too! The best kind, so he bought a few bags of cotton candy to give to Submission, Ripsaw, and Sink, he hoped they liked cotton candy! All their hard work on this ride was in need of a reward, so what could be better than cotton candy? With his new whale plushie tucked under an arm, he hurried off to find the Chicoons to give them their treat.

Even though Ripsaw and Sink seemed to be distracted, Haster and Lukta decided to work on the ride a little bit more. They found a set of technical blueprints for the ride, and they tried to compare them to the current state of the ride to see if there were any noticeable differences.

Skipena wonders if he found the extra tools she had placed there and worked more on the ride. No way to really tell. There was no tools laying around on the spot they originally were.
She could only slightly overhear part of their conversation. Something about the golf course being covered in icecream? That’s odd… she remembered that George had been playing golf over there. Maybe she should go check that out and leave these guys to figure out the broken ride.

Ace attempts to listen into their conversation a bit but decides its not worth the fuss listening to gossip. Looking around, they see that the ride is still broken, tools strewn everywhere. Maybe he'll give it another go today.

Another day, another failure trying to get the ride back up and running. Things really felt pointless now. Not even trying to check any paperwork had revealed any new relevations about the ride and its inner workings, so it now really felt like a dead end had been reached. They'd come so far without making an ounce of progress. It was a shame. Though their minds still begged them to keep exploring every possible idea until not a single drop was left, Ichigo and Cashew were really starting to get burnt out from working so much on a ride that wouldn't even budge an inch. Nonetheless they kept being drawn back to it, and they knew they wouldn't stop returning until the job was finished at long last, even if it took 'til the end of the carnival. If something it could be done about the ride, that would be great. If there was nothing more they could do... Well, so be it. It was a bit hard to accept, but if this was how it had to be, then that's just how it was meant to be. Tempting fate comes with an assortment of different outcomes, after all, most of which were unable to be controlled by those who tried in the first place.

At least Ripsaw didn't seem as irritated as he had the past week or so; what a relief! Maybe getting some rest really did make a difference, even if he still managed to sneak into the park overnight. (Remember, folks, rest is important, after all! Make sure to get some, especially after tinkering nonstop with a pendulum ride for a week straight!) Didn't look like he was doing much besides paperwork today. Ichigo, however, was curious about what he and Sink had been chatting about. She couldn't make too much out — something about the people at the carnival, and the carnival itself... Well, if there was one thing Ichi loved, it was getting in on gossip. She kept trying to keep her ears peeled for any extra bit of news she could catch, but Cashew (who wasn't even really paying attention to what Ripsaw and Sink were talking about) ended up dragging her off, saying she probably shouldn't be getting in on any drama. Ichigo groaned. No fun! Oh well, then... Well, she was determined to overhear more gossip next time. The two talked between themselves for a while before deciding on what to do today, and soon came to a decision.

Today, Ichigo and Cashew were just going to do something else, running off to participate in different carnival activities. They had time to do so anyways.

They started off by getting some lunch! What's better than carnival food? Cashew, of course, got their classic Dill Pickle on a Hot Dog Bun, with extra relish and mayo. Ichigo still didn't understand how Cashew thought that could even be remotely appetizing, but hey, as long as it made them happy, right? Ichi, on the other hand, went with her personal favorites... Strawberry boba and a mixed berry bowl, topped with some whipped cream and a drizzle of strawberry sauce. It was delicious! Cashew tried to ask for a bite. Sadly, there was no way Ichi would even consider giving a pickle-breathed buffoon a bite of her snack. No way. Even when Cashew offered her a bite of their own lunch, she had not even the slightest bit of interest. There was no way she was willing to try something so... Pickle-y and mustard-y. Not even a chance! At least both chicoons enjoyed their respective lunches, though.

Afterwards, they headed to a booth where you had to throw a ball at some bottles to knock them down. Finally, that's what Ichigo considered a game! Throwing things to knock other things to the floor! It was perfect. Cashew, on the other hand, couldn't seem to do as good as a job as Ichi did. Their first ball flew right over the bottle stack, and their second one flew too low and just hit the platform the bottles were set upon. The third time, it smacked the host of the booth right in the middle of the face! Cashew apologized profusely, while Ichigo just laughed. What a spectacle! ...Ichi was then shoo'd from the booth for giggling at the incident, and Cashew quickly followed behind her as to not leave her alone.

Sugar was glad to see Ripsaw in an, albeit slight, better mood today. She hoped he appreciated the blanket and the plushie company. She smiled at him and Sink, but didn't want to bother them, so Sugar decided to focus in on the ride today since she hadn't for the past few. She took another peek into the maintenance panel to see if maybe something's changed today, and to her surprise something had! It seemed all the mess of wired had been hiding a few switches that had fallen off one of the mechanisms inside.
"Now these seem pretty important..." She thought, and picked up the half-dozen switches that had fallen and rolled around the area. Dusting off the panel she found where they seemed to fit, it was a panel with a bunch of light bulbs and about 12 different switches at the bottom, half of them were missing and the ones she'd found on the ground matched the empty slots. But which switch were supposed to go where? Looking back through the manual she had found a few days ago, it showed which lights should be on, but all the switches looked identical and it still wasn't clear which went where and which were supposed to be switched 'on' or 'off.' The switches seemed to turn on random lights from the 6 by 6 panel of bulbs.
"Well, I guess it'll have to be some trial and error again today!" She said to her companion, who just held a small flashlight to help. "The manual shows what the end result should look like, and the different switches turn on different patterns depending on which slot they're in... so I guess we just start trying them out?" Sugar spent the whole morning on it, flipping switches, moving slots, turning the lights on and off. She actually found it to be an interesting puzzle! "Aha! This should be it! Just one last *CLICK* yes!" The final light turned green and the panel matched the diagram in the manual! She excitedly ran back out to see if the ride had started up, but found it just as still and quiet as when she got there. "Well, the ride still isn't on, but I'm sure this had to be important some how!" So despite it not seeming to have an effect today Sugar and Mulberry left the ride feeling like they truly accomplished something! (402)

Alocos decided he would Rather investigate the rats nest alone than bother ripsaw, and slipped back into the rat room. He grabbed the flashlight from his bag and crouched down in front of the hole, he was nervous but was determined to find the source of the problem. the hole was a tight fit, but he was able to squeeze through, he got up and shined the light around the room, and nearly died of heart failure. There were rats everywhere, and some were as big as him! He froze, they were all staring at him, one took a step forward, and that was all it took. Alo turned around and scrambled through back through the hole, and then bolted. He stopped near where Ripsaw and Sink were still talking, despite the incredible terror he had just felt, he still to scared of Ripsaw to aproach him. He dicided to leave early and comeback more prepared tomorrow.
