Hi guys ~
I've heard of a lot of talk about this contest being biased when judged. I wanted you all to know that I honestly DID receive help while judging this because I KNEW that people I knew personally had entered. I had about two guest judges, I believe, aid me in the decision. Mordacious was one of them and the other was an uninterested third party. I DID consult the staff to help me choose, but got no response. I know you all wanted a decision to be made, so I worked it out with my guest judges.
And I want you all to know that this contest was a matter of personal opinion by the judge. I chose the personalities I thought most FIT the character in MY eyes, as well as the snow sculpture that was most appealing to me. I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that my personal opinion is biased? Regardless of who made the form.
Honestly I don't know what you want me to do about it, I tried my best to avoid this but obviously it didn't work.
On the side of bias though, what true contest isn't judge without one? My opinion is a matter of bias, even. I was "biased" in a sense when looking at the forms because I knew what I wanted the JBD's personality to be. I just believe that claiming the contest was biased is a really unfair statement that I'd be happy to talk to individuals about if they care to PM me.
I also really do think it's a hard contest to be able to pin bias on because it was such a small one that I didn't anticipate to have so many great forms. I heard something about people being upset it was such a short contest, but I want to be able to make quality designs without having to take two weeks to be able to sift through all the forms. Imagine if this would've been, write a story about the JBD? I would've had to read close to 200 stories with 10 entries per page and 20 pages, which I honestly did not expect it to reach.
I'm sorry my views were not the same as people out there regarding a snow sculpture, the contest was meant to be something fun and easy.
