Chicoon of Choice:
arsenicLocation of Choice: thrillers
Prompt: Arsenic gathered the library staff in a huddle, passing around a piece of paper that she had worked on the night before. “What do we know about the car burglar?” She asked the small group. However, her question was met with a bunch of blank stares. “Come on guys! I am going to need everyone to really pitch in!” She shook her head and mumbled something inaudible. Arsenic snatched the paper from somebody’s hands. “We all know that the cat burglar is swift and cunning. If we have any chance of catching them, we have to be quick on our toes. We also have to be willing to make a new plan on the fly. But, my thoughts are that we have to slow down the cat burglar’s speed.” She began to lay out directions, pointing at members of the staff. “You are going to be positioned near the first flight of stairs. You are going to be positioned near the romance novels.” She continued to go down her list until every staff member had a location. Then, she began to pass out items. She gave one Chicoon a bag of marbles, and another Chicoon some clear heavy duty tape. “If the cat burglar is coming you toward you, throw the marbles on the ground. Some of you are going to help put tape around certain spots of the library. Hopefully, the cat burglar will not be able to see the tape, and the tape will successfully slow them down. I laid out areas where I think the tape should go, so I will try to steer the burglar toward the tape traps.” She continued dishing out clear and concise instructions. “If all else fails…” She fumbled around in her backpack, which was now nearly empty. Arsenic pulled out a laser pointer, which glistened in the light. “This is only in case of an emergency. I will use the laser if I feel like all of my other plans are not working.” She watched as the Chicoons began to disperse into the library. “Wait, Francis and Poe.” She called out, holding a feather teaser. “I want one of you to use this at your discretion. I trust that you will only use it if you feel like the moment is right.” She nodded her head briefly and proceeded to tighten her knee pads and shoulder pads. Arsenic then pulled on a pair of gloves. “May the odds be ever in our favor.” She headed inside the library, determined to put an end to the chaos. [425 words]
