When Blackbird was in his prime, back many moons ago, before he had aged out of troublesome habits of youthful rebellion, he had met a cat that lit up his world. Moments snuck and memories cradled in the depths of his mind, protected from tarnish of breaking back to reality once the inevitable end of each meeting rung out, beckoning the cats back to the mundane life outside their moments together. Blackbird looks back and reminisces, a bittersweet ache in the gaping maw of his heart. The time spent crouched in the cover of darkness, the only thing louder than their whispers was the beating of their hearts, slowing in synch as they shed the worries of their lives under the sun. He thinks fondly of the cat he met with all those moons ago and wonders what Maple became.
