It was intriguing that after Jim had gone on a little about his hobby during the fall, Adrienne still offered to carve the pumpkin for him rather than he do it himself. While he had come originally to get a pumpkin for himself to carve, something within him was telling him to allow Adrienne to carve the pumpkins. Perhaps it was curiosity pulling at his heartstrings? Or perhaps it was the fact that Jim was starting to quite like Adrienne's company after he was able to open up with her a tad bit.
"Sure-" Jim had said to Adrienne after awhile of deliberating. "I'd love to see your work. Especially since I got to show you mine already. There are plenty of pumpkins to be found. I would quite enjoy seeing someone else's work for a change."
Adrienne went on about how she began with the eyes when it came to the art of carving pumpkins. Furthermore, the eyes were the obvious choice for her due to the fact that whenever Adrienne encountered someone, their eyes were the first feature about them she would notice.
"S-Same here." Jim said in a hushed voice to Adrienne. Jim was always secretly looking at the eyes of others' whenever he went out. It's the one thing about people that he noticed off the bat. To Jim, eyes were a source of judgement. Everyone was staring at him. Judging him. Or at least, that's what he was telling himself in his head. No one was ever truly judging him for anything, though since Jim has always been in his own head, it was hard for him to convince himself otherwise.
"Since you tend to notice eyes first and foremost, I'm sure you noticed that I actively tried to avoid yours until I got more comfortable. I always feel like eyes are judging me..." Jim finally admitted to Adrienne. "But... I think I'm beginning to learn that that's not true." He finished with a small smile.
Growth. These small interactions with Adrienne were allowing Jim to grow.
